Denerim
Denerim is the seat of the royal family and the capital of Ferelden. Denerim is also considered a holy city to worshippers of Andraste, as it is the place of her birth. Home of both nobility and the common people, this sprawling city has much to offer the adventurer, with its market place, magic shops, armorers and bordellos.

Redcliffe
Sitting on the western shore of Lake Calenhad, the village of Redcliffe is so named for the reddish hues of the cliffs that tower above it. Located in the western hills of Ferelden, it serves as a trading post for merchants who ship dwarven goods through the pass from Orlais and Denerim.

Lothering
Lothering is a village north of Ostagar, located on The West Road. Historically, Lothering was little more than a trading post serving the fortress of Ostagar to the south. In present times, however, it supplies goods to Redcliffe Village and the community of merchants and surface dwarves outside of Orzammar.

Orzammar
One of the last two dwarven strongholds in Thedas, Orzammar lies beneath the inhospitable Frostback Mountains. Once home only to the Miner and Smith castes before the coming of the Tevinter Imperium, the devastation caused by the darkspawn left Orzammar as the last bastion of an ancient empire that once sprawled all over the deep of Thedas.

Lake Calenhad
The Tevinters believed that the waters of Lake Calenhad were blessed by Razikale, god of mysteries, and that those who drank from them were granted special insights. This was why they built the great tower that now holds Ferelden's mages on an island in the middle of the lake.

Brecilian Outskirts
People have always spoken of dark and mysterous woods, haunted by unseen beings. The Brecilian Forest is one such forest. The deaths caused by the wars between the elves and Tevinter mages supposedly tore the Veil. This sinister air and the possessed flora have led to many rumors and stories behind these ancient woods.

Korcari Wilds
The Korcari Wilds are a cold southern expanse of forests whose extent is not truly known. The Chasind Wilders, who live within, say that a wasteland of snow and ice waits further to the south, filled only with desolate tundra and nomadic barbarians.

The Coastlands
The home of one of the only two teyrnins, the other being Gwaren, the northern Coastlands of Ferelden thrive on trade with the Free Marches and the rest of Thedas. During the Black Age, Highever became a teyrnir almost by default after the ruling Cousland battled, and defeated, the werewolf threat encroaching upon the land.

Amaranthine
The arling of Amaranthine winds along the sinuous northeastern coast of Ferelden. Hardship and adversity, like the storm-tossed waves of the Waking Sea, have assailed Amaranthine time and time again, only to crash and break upon her walls.

Hightown
Towering over the rest of the city, the nobles and merchants of Hightown feel save, not because the city's walls are impregnable, but because an invader would need to scale the stairs from Lowtown in order to reach them. Today, Hightown's prominent buildings are the Keep, home to the ruling viscount, and the chantry, home to the grand cleric and the city's religious center.

Gallows
The Gallows is an area of Kirkwall where the Tevinters once housed their slaves. Statues of tortured slaves still fill the Gallows courtyard, a ghastly memento of Kirkwall's history. It is now home of the Circle of Magi and an army of templars.

Lowtown
Most of Kirkwall's citizenry resides among the vast maze of shantytowns and labyrinthine streets of Lowtown, which is literally a pit where the slaves were once quartered in dwarven-engineered courtyards called ‘hexes’. One may find the Kirkwall's alienage here, with a great iron gate that the City Guard closes at night.

Docks
The Docks are outside of the soaring city walls that border Lowtown to the north and to the south the Gallows can be seen across the harbor. Warehouses comprise the majority of the area and trading ships frequent the seaport.

Darktown
An area of Kirkwall that is derelict and destitute, Darktown is a den of inequity, where only the most pitiable souls dwell. They say it is only a step up from the Elven Alienage, but at least the Alienage isn't polluted with chokedamp that covers the streets in a toxic fog.

Sundermount
Kirkwall is guarded by mountains to it north, the tallest of which is Sundermount. The mountain has a fearsome reputation. Legend says it was the site of a vicious battle where both sides unleashed horrors into the waking world, and unholy creatures prowl the heights to this very day, unaware that the war for which they were summoned is long since over.

The Fade
The Fade is a metaphysical realm that is part of Thedas yet separated by the Veil. The Fade is split up into fiefs belonging to the spirits that live there, and they change the landscape of the Fade to emulate what they see in the minds of mortal dreamers. According to the Chantry, the Fade is the first realm created by the Maker, which he populated with the spirits, the first of his creations.

The Anderfels
The Anderfels are a land of shocking extremes. It is the most desolate place in all the world, for two Blights have left great expanses of the steppes completely devoid of life. The Anderfels is best known for being the birthplace of the Grey Wardens and the site of their headquarters, the Weisshaupt Fortress.

Antiva
Although there is an Antivan monarchy in place, the nation is ruled by a collection of merchant princes such as heads of banks, trading companies and vineyards. As Antiva is well-known to be good at everything but fighting, it is ironic that the world's deadliest assassins, the Crows of Antiva, originate here.

The Free Marches
The "Marchers" are independent descendants from tough barbarians, their cities standing in a loose confederation that rarely unites on any matter unless one of their larger neighbors becomes aggressive. The Free Marches is best known as the breadbasket of Thedas.

Nevarra
The whole country is filled with artistry, from the statues of heroes that litter the streets in even the meanest villages to the glittering golden College of Magi in Cumberland. Unlike most other followers of Andraste, the Nevarrans do not burn their dead. Instead, they carefully preserve the bodies and seal them in elaborate tombs.

Rivain
Unlike the majority of peoples in Thedas, the Rivaini are not Andrastians and don't believe in the Maker. They are pantheists who believe in the Natural Order. They also have a peaceful relationship with the elves. Social standing in Rivain is often marked by tattoos and body piercings.

Seheron
While the Qunari have a firm grip on Par Vollen, their control of Seheron has been in dispute since they claimed Seheron from the Tevinter Imperium sixty years ago. Many elven slaves in Seheron have willingly converted to the Qun and anti-Tevinter sentiment even among the humans runs high.

The Tevinter Imperium
The Tevinter Imperium is a nation in Thedas ruled by a powerful magocracy. This empire suffered the brunt of the First Blight and was subsequently topped in an invasion by southern barbarians led by Andraste; it is now only a shadow of its former self in both size and power.

The High Seas
Here the ships of countries and merchants can be found, as well as terrifying pirate vessels. Similarly to the rest of Thedas, adventure and wealth can be found here in abundance if one knows where to look.
