Al'sio, once everyone had been dismissed from the hatching grounds, had proceeded straight to the weyrling weyrs where he knew he could find a good room before any of the other lads even got the idea to come. Grinning, he turned down the hallway towards the boy's rooms and began to scan through the many doors into the separate rooms. He ended up picking the first door on the left. It had a fabulous window that he could easily see the lake in the day, and yet didn't shine directly into the room to wake him up at ungodly hours in the morning. Within it, a bed with a chest at the end of it, in which he deposited his things, and a small desk and chair that he could use for a myriad of activities, and a special spot for his dragon to sleep.
With a lazy look towards his Mine, Tiaeth rambled over to the spot and promptly lay in it's cozy comfort. Oh.. it's so nice here. It will be cool in the summer and warm in the winter.. I like it Mine! he proclaimed before settling himself into a light doze.
Al'sio watched his new dragon sleep peacefully for a moment before deciding to change out of his white robes. Carefully placing them towards the bottom, he wouldn't really need them again, he pulled out his normal clothes and slipped them on and returning his boots to his feet. The task done, he sighed and looked about the room.
Well.. there wasn't much he could do, now that Tiaeth was asleep. The weyrwoman had instructed the new weyrlings to discover more about their dragons before the feast later. Scratching his head, he sat down on the chair and leaned back ever so slightly, watching his brown carefully. It was only a moment before he noticed the steady rhythm of Tiaeth's breathing. And for some reason, Al'sio felt himself relax as he concentrated on the sound; deep and rich as the earth around him. It was intristically slow and unhurried, as it it had all time to beat. A slow smile spread across his face as Al began to drum out a matching rhythm to his dragon.
((Don't really know where I'm going with this, but feel free to join in!!))

((*throws J'kel in*))
J’kel would have been happy to remain on the Sands for several candlemarks, watching all the new Weyrlings interact with their dragons. For the moment, only a few of the now-Impressed Candidates knew each other. That would probably change very quickly, since they were all going to be training together for quite some time. However, as the Weyrwoman dismissed them, Aikoth promptly announced that he was tired, and J’kel knew that it was a cue to move into their new Barracks. One hand on the Tragvac’s shoulder, J’kel lead the dragon off the Sands. He once again was proud of himself for having taken the time to learn the layout of the Weyr.
Walking into the Barracks after J’kel retrieved his belongings from the Candidate rooms, the pair noticed that the door to the first room on the left was cracked open, and Aikoth informed his rider that it was occupied already. J’kel grinned; they had not been the first to move, then. After glancing into the next three rooms down the hallway, J’kel pushed open the third door on the male’s side. The desk in the room was right in front of the window, which would give him a perfect view for drawing anything he could see. After putting his drawing materials on the desk and everything else on the bed to organize later, the Weyrling turned to find Aikoth already curled up in the spot specifically for dragons.
I wouldn’t expect you to move with all you ate. J’kel teased, sitting on the floor beside the Tragvac. Aikoth opened one eye and moved to use his rider’s knee as a pillow. You can sit there the whole time while I sleep, then. J'kel smirked, and for a minute admired his dragon, scratching above Aikoth's eye, who in turn started to fall asleep.
“I don’t think so.” J’kel retaliated, smiling as Aikoth curled up once more. The young dragon was asleep in no time, and J’kel quietly got up and went back into the hall. Well, he was curious to learn about his fellow Weyrlings now. The hallway was quiet as he walked back to the first room. “Anyone there that’s not asleep?” He asked.

Al'sio had been consumed in his drumming, it was quite entertaining to listen to at this point, he didn't notice until he paused to rest his hands that someone else was checking out the male rooms, apparently settling for one two doors away from him. The one with the desk in front of the window.. an artist of some type perhaps..? he thought absently, before resuming his drumming once more. So lost in the project was he, that when the lad that had just moved in said something at his partially cracked door, he yelped, to his shame loud enough for whoever it was to hear it, and quickly ran over to the door.
He opened it and nearly barrelled into the young fellow, before he caught himself on the door frame and gave an uneasy grin. "Sorry," he said absently, "I was making drumming patterns with my dragon. Hope I didn't disturb anyone.." he explained, meanwhile looking over the new weyrling. His features were pretty unfamiliar beyond the fact that Al'sio remembered seeing the lad Impress to a blue.
"You decide to seek out a good room too then, eh? If you don't mind my asking, what's your name? I know you Impressed a blue, but other than that.. I've been cleaning out the old weyrs since I got here, and little else, so I haven't really met anyone except Yelissy, have you met her? Really shy that one.. Anyway.. I'm Al'sio, newly Impressed to the brown Tiaeth. Nice to meet you," he said, offering his hand for a shake.

J’kel smirked slightly at the shout that occurred in response from his question, and he took a small step back when the door was flung open. As he expected he did not recognize the other young man now speaking to him, he just remembered that he had Impressed a Brown. For now, that was all he knew the other Weyrlings by. As the other Weyrling present spoke, he titled his head to the side. Drumming? Aloud he said; “You may have disturbed the dragons, if yours is sleeping as my Aikoth is.”
He took a moment to glance around, just to see if anyone else had entered the Barracks while he had been in his new room. All of the other doors down the hall were still closed, though, save for his and the one they stood in now. Later he had a feeling it would be quite interesting, with all the new riders and their dragons moving in. Even though they would probably all me exhausted, J’kel at least would find energy to talk with the others.
Yelissy? He didn’t recognize that name either, so he shook his head in response as he shook Al’sio’s hand. “No, I haven’t. I did meet another shy-seeming Candidate when we were allowed to touch the eggs though. You’ve seen the old weyrs? That’s just about the only part I haven’t seen I think. Me name’s J’kel, Impressed to Aikoth.” He let go of the other Weryling’s hand, an idea coming to mind. He needed to find out what color Aikoth actually was. “I wouldn’t call him a Blue.” He voiced aloud. “You’ve put the idea into my head now, I’ll have to find somebody that knows at the feast later.”

Al'sio nodded, and glanced down the hallway as well, sighing, he too resigned to the fact that the sooner he got to know all of the candidates the better it would be in the long-run. Indicating that J'kel could step inside his room if he wanted, Al moved over and sat in his chair, allotting room for the fellow weyrling to sit on his bed if he wanted to. "Nah, if yours is sleeping like mine is, there's not much except us to wake them until it's time for the feast."
"It seems like all of these people showed up overnight! I had the run of the place until word got around that the weyr had been ressurected. I probably know the place better than you, no offense. You just learn a lot while digging and meandering when no one will reprimand you for it," he explained, grinning boyishly at his misadventures, "I could show them to you, if you'd like. They're much more exciting without dirt and volcanic rock in them. Most of them are habitable now."
Stretching slightly, he thought back to the strange coloring of J'kel's dragon. "No.. I suppose not. I think he might be one of the rare breeds from before, when this place was called Midnight Weyr. There was a certain breed.. can't remember what it was called.. but it seemed to have an affinity for water, if I recall correctly. Think it was something that started with a 't,' but I suppose you could ask that scholar-boy who Impressed one of the blues if you wanted a for sure answer.." At this, Al'sio glanced outside the window, "Wonder how the rest of Pern will take to the return of true dragons and dragonriders. Will we be so easily accepted back into Pernese life?" he mused.

J’kel followed the other Weyrling into the room, looking around briefly just to see what small difference there was between it and his own. He quietly sat at the end of the bed, watching the sleeping Brown for a few moments as Al’sio also sat down. “I somehow managed to avoid almost everyone until a few days ago, including the Weyrleaders.” He mentioned with a smirk. “If so many people arrived within the past few days I imagine you had a lot of free time to explore.”
The young man conjured his view of what he thought the rider’s weyrs looked like, and had to admit he would like to see the real thing. Of course, the Gold and Bronze weyrs would probably be slightly different from the others, and they probably could not just walk into the Weyrleader’s. “I’d like to see them.” Was his reply. “It must have taken a while to clean them out, so hopefully they’ll get full use someday…” He trailed off, imagining what the Weyr could be like in ten Turns or so.
“An affinity for water?” J’kel repeated after Al’sio spoke. “Well, we can test that out in a few days I imagine. They’re all going to need a bath and an oiling.” He couldn’t help but chuckle lightly at the thought of all the new Weyrlings making a trip to the lake. If he didn’t meet the other Weyrling Al’sio described before then, he’d have to catch him after their first lesson.
He fell silent at the last question. He had thought about it before; what would happen when the Weyr officially revealed itself. There would be many who would not believe the rumors that were no doubt circulating until there was some proof. “Some may be glad to have the dragons back. Others will need proof of their…allegiance I suppose, and some won’t ever accept it probably.” The Weyrling took a breath, running a hand through his red hair as he too gazed out the window. “The Feral born in the clutch would be their reason not to.”

Al'sio grinned as he remembered thinking about how he must've been the first person to go into all of those weyrs for the first time in many Turns. "Yeah, they're really cool and quite nice. So I'm really hoping that this weyr will grow and prosper because I put a lot of hard work into making them good for the new dragonriders!" He didn't mention the fact that he had closed off a weyr so that he could use it in case he Impressed a dragon, which, to his immense pleasure, happened. "We'll go see them sometime. But, we should figure out when our lessons are so that we know when it would be okay for us to go elsewhere about the weyr. They'll probably tell us at the Feast though, so lets not worry about that 'til then."
He nodded slightly, "Yeah. Supposedly your dragon is a better swimmer than any other kind my friend! Dunno why, but there was also that other dragoness that had the could of fog following her around. I think she was from Midnight times too, which gives me hope that maybe the old dragons from before, maybe even some new breeds, will come back to this weyr."
Al'sio sighed, managing a smile, "That's true. Some people would be relieved that they've returned while others will never accept them again, then there are the people that won't care. We can only hope that we'll be trained well enough that we'll be able to fight the Thread half as well as the old dragonriders did.."
When the weyrling mentioned the Feral, Al'sio's eyes lit up with excitement, "I actually think that that could turn out in our favor," he explained, "If Kalev, I think that was the lads name, can gain the Ferals trust and have her agree to train with him, then maybe they could become as close to a bonded pair as they could ever hope to get. Then we can prove to the rest of Pern that with proper training, the Ferals could be made to be just as useful as any other dragon. Maybe more so if they don't disappear into between if their rider dies and they'd be willing to take on someone new. There are so many possibilities with Ferals that we haven't even begun to explore," he said, "I hope that that pair turns out like I want it to because that would be very welcome news to the weyrleaders."

J’kel laughed quietly again, this time gesturing to the sleeping Brown dragon. “We are the new dragonriders.” He said, emphasizing the first two words. It was an odd thought, and he couldn’t help feeling excited about Impressing once again as the day’s events flitted through his mind’s eye. “I imagine you’ve already staked out the best-looking weyrs, too.” He added with a mischievous look in his gray eyes as he watched Al’sio. It appeared that they had some things in common, seeing as Al’sio seemed to be quite the explorer. If he had arrived sooner, J’kel probably would have been right there with him. Or at least pestering the Weyrleaders with questions often enough to get him in trouble.
At the mention of the other unique dragon, J’kel decided to just ask someone about all of the colors that had been residents of Midnight Weyr. He wondered how many mutant colors there had been. At least two, which probably meant a few more. If there were records available, he’d have to ask Lylian if he could see them someday when the Weyrlings had some free time from lessons. “It’s kind of interesting that the first two eggs to Hatch were not of the original five colors.” He thought aloud. “It’s also interesting that Lylian’s Queen produced them.”
“I’m curious as to how that’ll all work out.” Was J’kel’s reply to the topic of the Feral. “Although personally, I would hope that they wouldn’t except another partner in the situation you describe.” He added with a sigh. Perhaps it was because he had read so much about the past dragonrides and the bonds with their dragons, but he didn’t like the idea of a dragon choosing another rider if the first were to perish. “They’d still have to go through training all over again, and I doubt most dragons would appreciate that.” He frowned a little, trying to think of an alternative. There was no way anyone would approve of a dragon flying rider-less. “If they were to become very close, I don’t think the dragon would exactly accept another rider.”

Al'sio grinned mischeviously, "Well, I do know of a couple nice weyrs here and there. At some point, when we know when our weyrling lessons are, we could go explore them when we know we won't really be needed. I could show you some of the more.. interesting parts of the weyr," he said, an adventurous challenge in his eyes, "That is, if you think you could keep up."
He nodded at the mention of the surprise hatching of the two dragonets, "That bodes well for us though, I suppose. It means that we're more likely to bring back the forgotten dragons from the previous weyr and even breed our own kinds of dragons; that's always a welcome treat for those who Impress such beasts," he said, sighing as he looked to his own beautiful brown dragon.
"True, I suppose your right. If it's anything like a true bond, no dragon would want to take on another dragon. I don't think I'd be able to have any other dragon other than my Tiaeth. If anything happened to him, I'd probably drown in my misery and find some other hobby to do until I die that has nothing to do with dragons."
Looking about for a moment, he stood up with a sudden vigor he wasn't quite expecting, "We should do something. With our dragons. Maybe see if your dragon is a good swimmer? That would point us in the right direction in finding out what kind of dragon he is."
