Investigation Report #1
Date: August 26th 2012 Location: Sunderland, On Time spent in field: Approx. 3 hours Investigating: Strange foot tracks in marsh Topography: Tall weeds and mud before entering the forest. Countless fallen trees spotted and hopped over. Forest was difficult to maneuver through due to thick cover and uneven ground. Lots of leaves on trees, but also a good amount on the ground. Soil: Damp and spotted throughout forest floor. When there wasn’t soil there was green moss or heavy ground cover. Food Source: I found red berries and also wild raspberries as a possible food source. A lot of raccoon tracks and a few deer tracks spotted so it has a lot of animal traffic. Also saw still streams and puddles as well as a moving stream, both good sources of drinking water. The forest borders a farmer’s field with dozens of grazing cattle and feed. Wildlife: Raccoon and deer tracks identified in the soil. Two doves spotted and other birds heard in the tress. Lots of spider webs below the tree cover. Easy place animals to hide and camouflage. Smells: No unusual smells detected Vocalizations: I heard a crisp tongue clicking sound that resembled a kind of “horse click”. It was so sharp that I decided only an animal could make that noise. (More info below) Tracks: A single human-like track located in the wet soil, but was unable to follow the trail because the direction of travel headed toward a mossy area. The track was 9 and ½inches long and faded due to age. I noticed 5 toes so it was definitely a bare foot. The track was not deep enough to cast. There were a lot of other grounddisturbances but nothing with enough detail to measure or identify. Evidence collected: Photos taken of a single faded human-like foot track in the soil. Also took photos of surrounding area. Report: Investigating a report of strange tracks left in a marsh, submitted to OWFROB and labeled as report OB1212. I followed GPS coordinates and located the areawhere the tracks were left, but they were no longer identifiable. I continued searching the area, walking deep into the woods and also in circles. I looked for snapped trees, foot tracks, scat, hair, berry bushes and other disturbances along the way. I located a single foot track in the soil so I measured it and took pictures. The track was too shallow to cast and there was no hair or other evidence left behind. I whistled as I walked through the woods, trying many different combinations but I never once heard a whistle back. Not even from a bird. I did a few howls, but had no response. At 2:00pm, I leaned down to investigate a possible track, when over my shoulder I heard an odd sound. It sounded like tongue clicking or the clapping of hands very rapidly. Something I could not recreate. It lasted for 15-20 seconds, which seemed like a long time. It came from the NNW about 25-30 feet from me. Frightfully close. While listening to this I had the feeling that someone/something was watching me from a distance. It was an eerie feeling. Suddenly, I felt any power I had slip away. I felt like whatever made this noise was watching me and knew I wasn’t a threat. It was so loud and felt like it was aimed directly at me. My camera was in my bag at the time so I was unable to record the sound. I knew if I tried to reach for it the sound would probably stop. The sound was very alarming. I have never heard anything like that in my life. I don’t think any human could make that noise, in fact I could be sure I was alone out there because the bush was so thick I could have easily heard a human bumble through it. Humans are not graceful like animals. I tried to locate a bird or other animal online that would make a similar noise, but I have been unable to find any. After that, I sat down on a log to take a break and eat a meager lunch. I then proceeded to do more howls and wood knocks, then waited, but received no response. I then headed out of the forest and came across a moving stream where I checked for more prints. I found none and proceeded to exit the forest. Conclusion: The size and depth of the track leads me to believe that there was ajuvenile Sasquatch in the area. The sound I heard gave me the feeling that a creature was toying with me. Also, there is an abundance of food and water for a large creature and plenty of cover for it to hide in plain view. Lastly, the proximity of the grazing cattle leaves me with the opinion that it would be hard to resist for any curious creature –whatever the reason. The picture of the footprint is not as clear as it was in person, which is a shame. I can see how it would be difficult to identify a foot impression in the image, but rest assured that there was a footprint there with 5 toes. It is possible that it could be a bare human foot print, but that would mean this person would have to take off their shoes and socks and step in the mud. I also didn’t find any other human-like tracks. Due to a police investigation into a grown-op carrying on in that area, I will not be able to return to the location and therefore cannot follow up.
