In my opinion it looks more Cat. Lynx or Bobcat. It would seem small for Cougar.

They say whichever direction the tapered end of the scat is pointing is the direction in which the animal was traveling.

It won't be Lynx, Lynx scat is never solid, they have more of a tooth paste consistency, seems pretty big for bobcat.
We once raised a Lynx as a house cat Tim, sometime we will have to have a coffee,and I will tell you the story and show you some pictures.
