Amalric moves closer, into the greenish light proper. He attempts to re-appraise from his now nearer position. Appraise check result of 17 total -- though he's still not sure of the object's exact nature, the stone itself doesn't look particularly valuable to him. It's almost definitely not emerald, nor even adventurite, topaz, or peridot, for that matter. However, given the stone's likely magical nature, he still estimates its value at somewhere between 60 and 150 sp.
New Knowledge (arcana) check: 21 total, which means Amalric is fairly certain the stone might be either a Radium Gem, or ancient lore, or Green Radiance Stone of far Punt. In fact, the two might even refer to the same phenomenon, but of that, Garek is not certain. However, if it is either one of them, legends state that such stones are of a very mystical nature and often serve as source of non-flammable lighting to those few Puntian miners who dare to use its "sorcerous" light. In fact, something Amalric has once heard or read claims that Radium Gems, if that's what the thing in the ceiling truly is, can either cause long-term corruption, as if trafficking with demons, or else merely makes an already corrupted person feel "at ease", as if the voices from beyond the Outer Dark were whispering mad, sweet nothings to him.

Yip, have no skills I think to get any knowledge from Statue, unless Arcana +3 helps, he will probably continue in his ignorance.

Knowledge (arcana) tells Amalric nothing in this case, Nialldubh, although a good try. Knowledge (religion) is the way to go at least in this instance.
Amalric's Search check, to notice the trap-door in the floor just beyond the "intersection", was a total result of 10. A failure, and the weight of his body easily opens said doors and sends him plummeting, off-balance.
Reflex saving throw for Amalric to grab hold of a ledge: result of 12, a failure. So Garek's plummeting is almost assured.
However, if Kintire wishes for Zenobia to make a quick grab for Amalric, she can do so. A Reflex save at DC 20. If she succeeds, she would then have to succeed in a DC 15 Strength check; if she fails this by 5 or more, she is also pulled down into whatever hell awaits down there (or, there could be nice things down there ). If she fails by 4 or less, she begins to lose the grip on Garek's wrist or ankle, but allows him a second or two to succeed in a Climb check to grab something, and hopefully, pull himself back up.
I shall await your statements of intent.

Nialldubh,
Even though Amalric is somewhat panicked as the earth suddenly opens beneath his feet, he does catch a flash of what might lie below: the bottom of the pit is barely discernible, in shadowy illumination, some 15-20 feet below. There was also a quick flash of some lighter colored objects at the bottom -- possibly bones.
It'd be easier for the Reflex save (DC 15) than the Search check (DC 20), if you'd like to spend a Fate Point on a re-roll.

Heh, awesome. Base d20 roll of 8 modified by +7, for a total result of 15. Amalric succeeds in keeping his balance! Down a Fate Point, but quite possibly worth it!
Normally, since he failed to notice the tell-tale lines of the trap-door in the floor, he'd been way too off-balance to manage nothing more than a grabbing of the ledge on his way down. However, Zenobia succeeded with a total result of 21 on her Reflex save, and so manages to help Garek keep his balance on his feet.
So, opened double-trapdoor now yawns open before you two; it's about nine or ten feet across to the other side. And well done.

Hmmm, was slightly holding my breath there, good stuff and very close roll, but a success is a success
Thank to Kintire for aid, a goodly act!
Long sigh of breath!
1st thing, I removed 1FP
2nd: Well we need a plan, we must get across pit, we have 50ft of rope, a small hammer to beat in the 5 iron spikes also carried by Amalric.
So do we make a run and jump, not good for Amalric, with Armour he got +1 to Jump!
Or climb down pit and climb out other side, can only imagine wall surface very smooth but with an Iron spike every 5ft, we could thread the rope through them and climb up other side!
So if acceptable:
a ) 1 spike in floor on our side of pit, tie rope and climb down, well at least Amalric for start, Zenobia can keep guard at top with Bow, we should light lantern and lower it down 1st.
b ) Think he can 'Take 10' with climb, so easy stuff, so down he goes, with gear also!
c ) Rope secured on one side Amalric will climb, filtering rope through spikes and rope wrapped around waist (through belt and any other way to secure himself) he will slowly pull himself up otherside! Obviously with rope through spike (not sure how good these spikes are ) he will not fall far if he falls.
Can I 'Take 10' with 2nd wall Climb roll or is it dangerous and need to be rolled.
If Zenobia has a better Climb Modifier, it might be best if she goes, I think Amalric would think not, but not truly know.
If Zenobia not any better, on way out and he cannot 'Take 10,' or climb DC higher than a DC 11, he will remove Leather Jerkin.
Also is hammer, spikes and rope allow anther +2 modifier to Climb roll ?
It neverending
Love the adventure, but only after I know Amalric is safe .

Probably a good call, Nialldubh (see IC post)!
To clarify, the left-hand trapdoor returned to its starting location, fairly slowly (taking about 12-15 seconds to close completely). The right-hand, probably meant to close also, failed to do so.
The pit starts about 5 or 6 feet down from the "T-intersection"; that is, the alcoves with the cat-headed statue and unidentifiable other statue. To far side of the pit (or half-sealed pit, as it is at present) is about 9 or 10 feet across.
The ceiling is still at a height of just nine feet or so. As far as Zenobia or Amalric can tell, the main corridor heads off, still relatively level, beyond the pit-trap into seeming inky darkness.

Hmmmm, nice1, next plan
1: Could attempt to wedge it shut! (1st option). Then run across!
2: as above, but tie rope around statue or use iron spike in floor. Attach rope to 1st going across, so if spike fails, the drop would be minimum.
3: RUN now and sprint with great speed, so if trap door starts opening, it be to late, we be across before it could open properly?
I personally think option 2 as it cautious and careful as any novice Hunter or Thief should be, if they not in a rush!

Amalric manages to wedge an iron spike into the small space betwixt the stone door and where it would flush itself against the wall. Disable Device check total of 12. No other methods appear available in keeping the door jammed, although it does appear that a simple iron spike -- even better, perhaps two of them -- will likely do the trick.
As for any usage of rope, is Option #2 your choice?. Let me know and I'll progress onward from there!

I try and wedge another spike in, to secure it and think rope will be also a good also.
I will use another spike to hammer into wall, this of course is loud, but Amalric does not care, as he think undead have not very good hearing , lol
Okay no more jokes
This third spike is about 5ft from the floor, attach end of rope and slowly ease himself over. If trapdoor does not open. He will hammer a 4th spike into wall at other side at same level, tie rope to this side, this will use 15ft of rope. Amalric will cut rope leaving them the remaining 35ft and a rope-handhold across the pit-trap-door!!!
Easy does it!!!

It is obvious to me Amalric might be caught Flat-Footed, bit if so I will change my statement in-game!
Using his trusting falchion again he will grip it in two hands and prepare to hack the Ghoul of the underworld in two!
FP if he needs to stand and fight. Amalric has not the best Will ST, but normal for Fighter-Rogues!
As Zenobia thought, if something is willing to quietly move to close to us it probably a Spawn of HELL !!!
Oh yeah, not sure what I did with torch, but think Amalric would have left it with Zenobia, using two hands to grip his rope in case trap opened again.
When thing gets close, he will take a step to the side, so Zenobia can get her arrows into the thing without it benefiting from cover from Amalric!

[size=2]Kintire, Essentially, I gave Zenobia a free action (as a surprise action) against the figure, even though she/it/he was actually looking her way. In other words, not really surprised/flat-footed. As Rapid Shot is a full attack action, I let the figure move right after Zenobia's first shot. Was just trying to avoid Initiative in a semi-cinematic moment. [size=2]

My apologies for another hiatus here -- things have gotten ridiculously busy again! I've been cast in a Harrison Ford (yes, Harrison Freaking Ford) movie, called 42, about Jackie Robinson, the first black major league baseball player.
I'll be a player on an opposing team, or possibly a base coach with a line or two. Very cool, although I just missed a larger role which would have featured many scenes with Mr. Ford, not to mention even better (SAG) pay.
In addition, I'll be on set for another feature film a couple of days this week (Necessary Roughness 2), and am currently in rehearsals and performances for three stage productions. And a couple of web-series coming up as well.
"Busy" doesn't really do it justice, but there it is. Apologies again, but the game might have to stay on hiatus for a while whilst I catch my breath, rest my limbs, and focus on my career.
Lastly, though, and to get back to gaming, I've found a few glimpses of spare time here and there for my original RPG, Savage Kingdoms, which should be up Kickstarter very soon. Just a few playtest sessions away, really.
Take care and talk again soon...
-CB/MY.
