Ancient Hybrid Physiology: David is a hybrid of an Ancient and a meta-human. As such he inherited both strengths and weaknesses of both parents’ species and gives him a wide range of superhuman abilities. Though they gave him a significant advantage, they can also give him a bit of problems. As always there is no rose without a thorn.

• Ancient Blood : David possesses super durability, resilience and stamina, regeneration process and strength (25 tons). He also possesses enhanced coordination and reflexes.
  
• Immortality: He is immortal due to his hybrid nature (Ancient and Human) and as such he cannot die of old age, diseases or any other usual lethal damage. He doesn't age anymore as well, after reaching her thirties.
  
• Flight: David possesses the ability to fly by unknown means, utilizing her superhuman speed to fly far above supersonic speeds (above mach 4).

Umbrakinesis: David has the ability to create and manipulate darkness or shadows that cannot be penetrated by light, and sometimes not other energies either. David is also able to exhibit the ability to give his darkness tangibility, so he can create solid black constructs spawned directly from his imaginations out of nothingness by using their power.

• Umbrageous Teleportation: David can even deactivate and repulse light energy in order to travel through shadows, by converting deactivated photons into a dark version of a portal.
• Energy Blasts: Umbrino can generate darkness, cold, force, and other forms of energy as powerful blasts and explosions of a black color. These blasts are usually generated from the hands and eyes. The maximum power of these blasts is unknown.

Twin Telepathic Bond: David and André share a telepathic bond that keeps them psychically linked no matter the distance. He can always know where his brother are and feel their emotions. When the twins become fully in-tuned with each other, their power’s grow and can even share each other’s powers.

Genius Level Intelligence : David possesses a genius-level IQ. His mind works sharply and with extreme speed.

Beauty: His physical beauty has been compared to "super-model" status.

Skilled Combatant: David has been trained in advanced martial arts by Batman and Wonder Woman.

Multi-lingual: He speaks a multitude of languages fluently. Among them are Human and Alien languages.

Diplomatic Immunity: David is the son of the Portuguese Ambassador and as such he enjoys the political immunity status that goes with this title.

Ancient Hybrid Physiology: Only an injury that disperses a significant portion of his body molecules, or a force that overwhelms and breaks his mental held over his body, could cause David to die.

David is considered extremely young to Ancient cultural and biological patterns and as such he still needs to develop more of his known special superhuman abilities to the same degree that his mother and others of the most powerful Ancients have.

Umbrakinesis: The obvious weakness of this power are Light and Electricity. Though David’s shadows are impenetrable by ambient light, like a sunny day light, they are susceptible against PURE light energy, like laser or light blasts and lightning bolts. André is immune to Susana light blasts and to David electric bolts.

Energy Depletion: At an average rate of expenditure of energy, David can maintain his performance for about 8 hours. The expenditure of energy in this way will temporarily deplete David's physical strength, but it will quickly rebuild itself after such exertion is over.

Twin Telepathic Bond:David feels what his twin brother feels and can be knocked out through this link. A telepathic attack on André may also stun David, depending on the power of the attack and if he is caught by surprise.

• Overall Appearance | David is André’s identical twin. As such their appearance is very similar, though both have different clothing tastes. David is something of a cross between a surfer boy and a business man, which means he wears a lot of suits as a part of being a detective, but he always looks like he just rolled out of bed.

He often wears suits, or when he’s going for a casual look he wears jeans and a button down shirt, though he never seems to be able to break out of his scruffy looking exterior. He is very athletic, and sometimes his hair is a bit green because he swims at least once a day.

• Overall Personality | David is often considered the quiet member of the Sottomayor siblings, often being peacekeeper and voice of reason through their youth. He’s always had more trouble with strangers and meeting people than his siblings, often stumbling over words in his nerves, or not speaking at all. Though he’s grown out of it, mostly, he still gets that kind of reaction around women he’s attracted to.

He has a deep love for his family, and he would do anything he could to protect them. He especially loves his niece, and spoils her as much as he possibly can when he’s around her. But he’s also highly suspicious of those that get close to his family, particularly those that date his siblings. He understands that it happens, and his siblings are usually smart enough, but he does worry due to his brother’s promiscuous nature.

David is fairly straight laced and responsible, he never puts a toe out of line except where his family is concerned, though in his childhood he was often dragged on ‘adventures’ with Andre that he protested about. A lot. He’s very much a morning person, up at the crack of dawn or earlier no matter how late he was up the night before. He loves swimming, surfing and water in general since he doesn’t surf so much now that he’s one the east coast, and always puts 110% into his job as a profiler and psychologist for the NYPD, despite his age.

• Overall History | David is the middle child of the Sottomayor triplets, born to the Ancient Lady Catarina and the mega-human ambassador Bruno Sottomayor. They were born in Sintra, Portugal, which is the mountain that the Ancient race keeps has their last stronghold on Earth. Ancients are said to be the successes of the Old Gods' experiments, though other lore says that they are human’s beings who have reached evolution and ascended.

David’s mother, Catarina is a member of the youngest generation of Ancients and feel deeply in love for the mega-human, Bruno Sottomayor, when they were both students and colleagues at the Lisbon University. They almost broke up, until one of the scientists of the Ancient, tested both Catarina and Bruno and learned that due to Bruno mega-human abilities, they were genetically compatible and thus could form a family. With her mother, Filomena, leader of the Ancients, blessing, Catarina and Bruno married and two years after their weeding, the happy couple gave birth to Tanner the eldest son, followed two years later by the triplets, Susana, André and David.

The children were raised in comfort and luxury, but with strict rules upon them. The Sottomayor children all showed strong personalities. Tanner was the good boy, David, the peacemaker and André was the adventurous one, Susana being the only girl, was the wild child. David is particularly close to his sister and twin, though he does respect his older brother, due to the time he was missing they aren’t all that close.

When he was six, David’s unique powers manifested at the same time his siblings. David was actually running and hiding during a game when a leap over a trash can landed him in a shadow and suddenly he was falling out of another shadow across the property on the edge of the garden. David and his siblings were then taught to control their powers and abilities, due to rigorous discipline and training, by their vast family. David was never much trouble in training, taking to it with a vigor that he usually had only for his books, and no one ever really had trouble getting him to follow orders or getting respect from him.

At same time and due to their genius intelligence, the Sottomayor triplets, where able to graduate and to pursuit their academics preferred expertise’s. At the age of 23, the triplets were already doctors in their fields of expertise. David was a highly sought after psychologist, with doctorates in both Psychology and Medicine. His particular branch of study was criminal and clinical psychology, and he was shortlisted for the FBI shortly after graduation.

Being an ambassador and a mega-human, Bruno was a good friend of Princess Diana of Themyscira and such was able to recommend His children to become a member of the Justice League as he and his siblings wanted to be heroes. Since he was 24, David has been a steady and trustful member of the team, often running interference with the FBI when needed.

David likes his work, and all the travel he gets out of it, especially since his powers to jump through shadows give him the ability to be where he needs to be, when it happens.

The Merge

The Merge changed David’s life a little bit; he’s now nineteen and only a detective for the NYPD for the past year, since they made an exception due to his particular expertise in criminal psychology. His sister is now older than he is, but he’s still Andre’s older twin brother, and he still has a niece, but since his family is prone to time travel he seems to have a nephew too. David is currently single, and a member of the X-Men when he can get away, but he is also being scouted out by the FBI for possible recruitment.
