Description: Aussie Family coping with Narcolepsy

Aussie_narc - March 15, 2009 11:35 AM (GMT)
Hi, we are an Australian family, our daughter, was diagnosed with Narcolepsy w Cataplexy in June 2008. She will be 8 this July. We are still very much on a learning curve but apparently very fortunate that she has been diagnosed early. Are there any parents out there with young children diagnosed with narcolepsy? Through this forum it is good to know she is not alone and although every narcoleptics symptoms and med's are different it helps us to realise what she is or might be experiencing. There are times I don't even know what I should be asking or researching about narcolepsy. Our daughter takes Concerta ER 54mg (Methylphenidate) daily and an amitriptyline tablet (Endep 10) of an evening. I am sure the more confident I get in using this forum the more questions I will have! Anyway thanks.

Glad you have found the forum. We are all here to educate and inform one another of the varied experiences that may or are having in our lives. I was fourteen and the only one in my family to every come across such a disorder. You will live and learn and have learned as we have lived so once again ask, ask, ask all that you can in order to be able to nuture your daughtgers experience with narcolepsy.
