basically, i need to write a scene where i have angels and demons running round a city in heaven with guns, in groups of between 4 and 10, several hundred from each side, and i don't have much of an idea how to go about it. the city is built predominately of stone, and civilians have been ordered to stay indoors. it needs to be a middlish kind of scene - it's important in that Michael orders the MCs team of five to attack about fifty demons and reveals he's not the real Michael, but i don't want it to be the main scene, and i can't destroy the city. that happens on four occaisions in other books in the series (there are currently only six books in the series, so i really don't want to do too much damage to the city).
what i need is advice/scenes from stuff you've written with stuff like this in (gun battles, not angels and demons!)/books that have stuff like this in.
other stuff you should know: the demons guns fire real bullets. angels guns use a kind of laser thing that won't hurt humans but will hurt other angels and has different strength settings. if a demon is seriously injured or gets scared, they'll disappear from the fight. if an angel is seriously injured, they'll disappear, if they're severely scared... well, none of my angels would be, but if they were their only option would be to run. that's all i can think of. if you need any more info, i can probably provide it, assuming the characters will tell me (one has just revealed, two years after the book was first written, after telling me consistently that she's always been a loner, that actually she has a boyfriend who works for the newspaper).

Haha, don't you just love when characters do that? biggrin.gif

On a more serious note, I'm not sure how much help I can give you, but to keep city destruction to a minimum, perhaps the city is vital to something or other and both sides have orders to damage it as little as possible?
