Ok. So i just found a pair of Indian Blue peacocks! They are $150. She can lay around 30 eggs in the breeding season, and the chicks sell for $35 is the cheapest i have seen. they eat turkey pellets so the feed is realativly cheap! but they need a huge (tall) coop...at leat 5' high. The male has a 4' tail too!! so please tell me what you guys think i should do?

Pricey....They go all day long up here for $50-$85. less at the auctions. Remember this...they can be pretty mean (like an ostrich/emu) and they make a LOT of LOUD noises. Your dad just might kill you :P

About all I know about them is they are big and very loud. And they need room for that tail. Have you looked into exotic pheasants? Just as beautiful and a bit smaller and maybe be easier to have around. If I would have an exotic, it would be pheasants and I might someday. I plan to have some chickens, and would work in housing for something like that at the same time. I like birds.
I saw a white peacock at a zoo years ago. Still have a wing feather I picked up. I think I'd rather have the colorful birds. |

my grama had a pair of those. they are quite noisy and disliked people and other animals. but they sure were purty!
and, to be perfectly honest, my grama isn't the best at "socializing" her animals so that might not be an accurate representation of what they're like. :lol |

I'll keep that in mind. I can get bantams and almost anything else pretty cheap at the big Sunday flea market, too. In any case. Will be a while before I think about bringing in more birds. I've got a few other projects before I start on a chicken coop. |

My husband wants peacocks. He has a customer who has a free range peacock in his yard. Everytime he does work for him, he comes home talking about the peacock. They are gorgeous.

There are loads of free range peacocks at the zoo near here. kids are always trying to get close to them. Not sure if that is why they are skittish or if that's just their nature.

from my understanding you have to work with them quite a but jsut to get them somewhat use to people. Im still debating on it. She wont negotiate on her price so i think im going to hold off till after tripple crown.
