Halloween at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, My department's booth| BMF |

Halloween is a really special time at St. Jude and the most celebrated holiday at the hospital. The departments within the hospital always set up little booths or tables for the kids, usually each with their own themes. This year my department (Chemical Biology & Therapeutics) chose the theme "Willy Wonka and the Candy Factory!" ...we aren't allowed to pass out candy that has been manufactured in the same environment as peanuts so that pretty much eliminates chocolate hence the name change. Anyways, here's pictures from the event! I painted the backdrop and came up with the overall design but it was really a group effort when it came to putting it all together :)

I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this but I think that it is sad that Halloween is one of the most celebrated holidays. In fact, I am sad that it is celebrated at all. Think what it is about. Death, satanic stuff, and others. I don't get why at any other time of the year death is tragic but when it comes to Halloween it is laughed about. Death is not something that we should joke about.
