Title: HL Tri Gene?

bedard'sbunnybungalow - January 2, 2009 02:42 AM (GMT)
How do you get the tri gene? does it just have to be in the pedigree or can you breed it in? If you breed it in what can you breed to get it?

I don't know much about the tri gene. A friend was messing with it after he got a harlequin surprise in the nestbox. He brought in a tri holland to work with. Haven't heard from him in a while so don't know how that went.

What breed are you talking here? If a color gene is non-existent in a breed, the only way to bring it in is via another breed that has it.

specifically holland lop in this case. I really want to start getting tri-s. thought maybe we have 2 in the nestbox but they may just be oranges. bred a lynx to a broken tort.
BTW awesome banner again!! I want a Dennie Banner!!!!

Amy's Rabbit Ranch can answer your question when she checks in. Tri HL is one of her specialties.

On that note, I'll move this thread to the other breeds section since it doesn't apply to NDs. Newbies might get confused.

Tanx! :D I made that one a while ago. I have seasonal sigs that I rotate.

I'm actually goofing around with tri nethies. Maybe this time next year or so I'll have something to show you.

Yep amy is our Tri-specialist here. Where are you located again? you may be closer to Saynoras who also raise Tri's....

As for Tri Nethies.. there were a few people helping with them from what I understood and Amy was also a part of that. But again...one of the party is MIA so I don't know if they are continuing or not.

What Sam said about tri nethies is all I really know...

And also yes, Amy will be the one to ask on this forum :)

Well I really meant it when I said just goofing around. I've got one tri and I'm sure most of her offspring will end up as pets. I just didn't have anything better to do with her, and have to keep her around because she's not mine, she's Robert's.

Show us your tri ND. I didn't know you had one.

RaineTreeHollow - January 4, 2009 05:20 PM (GMT)
Oh, sorry for the confusion. I don't have a full ND yet. Still working the other out of the ped. It looks more like a mini rex, I've got the get a few more generations in.

I know it's better to start with a tri holland but I couldn't get my hands on one.

Woot! I am here! I missed this thread!

Tris - best bred to tris, harlequins, bkn/solid oranges and fawns.

Hmmm...not to sound self-promoting but...

TRI NETHIES:

As soon as I get a touch of space, I'm bringing in some nethies. Steve has been MIA for a year now, and has not gotten the COD. So...I'm going to get working and perhaps nab the COD for them, unless someone beats me to them.
