History/Background:Earned in blood. That is how the Canmores became nobility or 'new nobility'. Centuries ago when the kingdom was young three younger brothers, the Canmores, signed up to fight for the king against a foreign enemy. In a battle outnumbered and surrounded the three Canmore brothers fought with their brethren and held their ground. Their commander had been killed and King's host decided that it was not strategic to aid the remaining troops in battle, and would not engage. However the youngest Canmore, Ashton, called the remained of the men together and managed to force the enemy to withdraw. When the King's force arrived they found a few dozen men and Ashton cradling one of his dead brothers, soaked in the blood of his kin and enemies. The King was inspired, and dubbed the man a count and made him new nobility. The house motto since then has always been Earned in Blood, a reminder of how the Canmores got their nobility. Over the generations the Canmore has became very wealthy producing effective statesman and generals.
Matthias was born the first and only son to the Late Lord Henry Canmore. Like all first men in the Canmore family, it was proper that he was made a follower of Tor and trained as a capable commander and swordsman, even if he was not to serve in the military. From the age of 5 he began his training. His father hired several men from faraway lands to train him. He would live a disciplined life his entire childhood. He was taught the basics of swordsmanship, and was handed down a rare steel longsword from his father when he got into his teens.
Matthias became exceptionally good at fighting and tactics. However his father hired an a very cruel mercenary to train him when he turned 15. Already slightly patriarchal and thinking highly of himself, the mercenary taught him that he need to be more, he needed to be the best. All of his traits came down on Matthias, male superiority, class identity, and skill as a fighter. This was augmented by the brutal training that Matthias went through. Matthias developed a dislike for women as leaders, and magic users who he saw a cowardly. He was educated in economics and war, and he wickedly used his scholarship to undermined and downplay rivals. He saw that the only way to gain power was through himself. The training did not break him, it made him stronger and more confident.
His parents die of illness just after he completed his training, and he inherited the house and became its head. Matthias although disappointed took on the responsibility. He however would take a more interesting stance, like his anti-feminist trainer, he would become very supportive of decreasing the roles of women in society. He earned a reputation to be biased and prejudice although intelligent and administrative. He also used took on a distrust to mages, and advocate they should not have as strong of roles in society either.
Despite his views, his family’s wealth and status earned him a right to sit on the Chorus when the next seat became available. Matthias inherited the seat when he turned 29, and has only sat on it for a sort while. He has taken a disliking particularly to the Kalen supports and dully speaks out against Ashar ones. He however is not a supporter of the war and feels that Myridia can’t win no matter what. He argues it’s a matter of exhausting one’s against one empire, then asking another for defense and autonomy.
Publicly as the escalation between empires increased, Matthias supported the Council and the city of Myridia itself. However this is a veil, Matthias heavily supports the Ashar cause secretly. Committing crimes close to treason Matthias tried to negotiate a deal with Ashar to make him a Viceroy or province overseer in exchange for information and perhaps later a defection. He has move carefully, no one has fully caught on, but some suspect that he does in fact support Ashar.
Personality:Matthias has a dominator personality which can make him at times very mean and sometimes diabolic. To those who are not of noble class he can seems very cruel. The young noble does in fact think nothing of those who are commoners, their advice, experiences, anything is meaningless to him, and he shows them no respect or kindness for it. To nobles and Matthias is understanding and appreciative, however he can be condescending towards that he does not feel deserve the title of nobility. In opposite to commoners Matthias treats nobles of any rank very well in all aspects.
Despite his good treatment to nobles he always has his own agenda. Anything he does must in some way, shape, or form have a benefit for him and house Canmore. The only person who can command Matthias without having to repay him in return is his parents. Even the royal family is an obstacle. After all, to Matthias, his family should be the rulers of Myridia.
To others Matthias seemed slightly detached emotionally but very realistic. Feelings for others and personal agendas aside externally he likes to get down to business and address the matters at hand. He is slightly curious about others, but in more of manner to find leverage than becoming friends. Others can even see him as pessimistic, he will focus on the negative on other's ideas and constantly reminds of it any way possible.
Trust and friendship is something that is very hard won for Matthias. From what few friends the knight really has he expects loyalty and trust. Likewise he extends these traits as well. Loyalty unto his family and friends is very important to him. Matthias hates those who are disloyal and untrustworthy to him.

Scenario 1: “Halt!” The guard at the gate shouted. “Who goes there?!”
It was dark and cool, and a light fog had come in from the west earlier in the evening. As Matthias approached the gate he could see to figures in the dark. He came to a stop as one ordered for him to stop moving. He let out a sigh, with the war going on it was getting harder and harder to move around without someone asking what he was doing. However it was late and nobody could see well in this darkness or fog.
“Lord Matthias Canmore.” Matthias replied.
It seemed as if the two guards looked at each other, then one jogged down to the spot Matthias had stopped at. He moved quickly over to Matthias and squinted to see if he could recognize his face in the dark. “Sorry Sir.” Came a response from the guard. Matthias rolled his eyes. “The Ashar and Kalen have not made it this far yet soldier.” The guard bowed in respect. “I know so but we-.” Matthias cut the man off. “I know you’re doing your job.”
There was a moment silence between the two of them. “Can I ask what you are doing out this late sir?” the guard asked. Matthias eyed the man suspiciously, he boiled up in anger inside. What was a common low life soldier like this asking about what he was doing after dark. “No you may not soldier, my business is my own and a noble like myself should not haft to remind someone like you this.”
The guard gulped and apologized. “Sorry Sir, Open the Gates!” He turned and shouted. The metal bars and chain creaked loudly open as the gate slid open. Matthias brushed by the guards and moved into the keep. He was tired, it was time to get some sleep.
