And so they came.
The drums of war beat furiously on the plateau, as the armies of Kalen and Ashar began to ascend. Using both skill and magic, the armies appeared on a foggy afternoon on opposite sides of the city, chanting, singing, and setting up their camps for a siege. The Myridians, locked inside their city, suddenly faced the two most powerful armies in Farrah. Initial skirmishes to keep the armies from climbing the plateau were repelled. Ashar, using the skill of its earth mages and the labour of its soldiers, built ramparts to climb the plateau. Kalen used hidden trials, and once an area north east of the city was secured, they began to come in the thousands.
War had finally come to Myridia City.
Inside the city, unease stirred. This was the time. This was the place. Myridia had chosen war, and there would be backing down, no surrender. Mages were assembled, as were the men. They’d trained for months, waited for months. It was time to prove Myridia’s mettle against both Ashar and Kalen. Personal opinions and tragedies would have to be put aside. The turmoil that raged within Myridia would have to be exchanged for the turmoil that raged outside the gates.
In the east of the city, Kalen began to move. Sounding the horns of its intention, the women and men of Kalen hoisted the green banner and began to march towards the city at dawn. The first battle for the fate of the proud city had begun.
