Hi, finally got the Brat out of winter storage, so celebrated the Jubilee by spending most of weekend fiddling and cleaning. Decided to treat the truck to a new set of spark plugs and when delving in the engine I discovered this alien rubber object lying on the block. It's about 3" long, stiff rubber with the numbers E81 & E71T on it? Any ideas where it's from? I can't see anything missing?

cheers Tim

Hi Andy, that's great but where does it go? I searched all over yesterday and failed to find where it should fit. Will it have done any damage by being out when driven?. Many thanks Tim

Looking from the front about 11 o'clock between engine an gearbox bell housing
No damage issues if not used. Just helps keep fingers and small animals out !

Yet again ive been beaten to the answer but just to add its the cover for the timing marks should you need the timing sorted thats where you point the timing light thats if you can find anyone that still has a timing light as they are few and far between these days what with engine managment systems and milti coil systems mine was last used at a mates bike shop to tune an old bmw 650 twin circa 1975 and he made his 2 aprentices watch me sort it as the modern c&g course doesnt cover points ah bless :D :D :D

Retired, old-school BT van fitter (took the golden hand shake last year having been with BT since leaving school) is going to sort split CV boot for me in a couple of weeks when he gets back from hols and said he'd look at the timing too.
