THE RULES
18+ ONLY
MATURE CONTENT
Out Of Character
RESPECT: Respect the site, respect the admin, respect the mods and most importantly of all, respect each other.
>>> We're on the internet here and being on the internet, you're bound to meet people that don't have the same viewpoints, religion, opinions, life experiences, personality or even the same skin color. We're all going to be different. Accept and respect those differences or you're out. Meaning we can and will terminate your account (including the character application and the respective threads). This counts as your one and only warning.
>>> We do not condone or support behavior that makes other people feel uncomfortable, so don't exhibit said behavior. It's fine to discuss certain differences from time to time, but keep it civil. It doesn't take much to turn a discussion into an argument.
WORD COUNT: 150 word minimum, though it's loosely enforced. Essentially, try to avoid uninteresting short posts as most of us get a kick out of a finely crafted piece of literature, and tend to get all frowny with 20-word responses. Writer like you're a write and you'll be ok.
ORIGINALITY: We will not accept characters that are directly taken (or clear rip-offs) from other types of media, such as Movies, Video Games, Anime,... We only accept characters that are entirely and originally made by the player.
ADVERTISING: You
do NOT advertise outside the designated area (the advertising board). Simple as that. You break the rule, you're out.
C-BOX: You cannot advertise on the cbox, period. It is for OOC or IC conversations only. Doing so will result in an instant ban without delay or consideration.
This is your only warning. All forum rules and regulations short of the word minimum apply in the Cbox; treat the Cbox like it were the forum itself.
Accounts
FULL NAME: You register your character account with the full name (FIRST and LAST name) of that character.
SINGULARITY: You have one account per character, not one account for multiple characters.
COMPLETENESS: You can only start posting In Character once you've completed the official character sheet in full.
In Character
GODMODDING: Overall, we do not allow godmodding (including controlling other players' characters and/ or killing them). We will, however, not punish you if one godmods in threads where all players involved agreed to allow it.
METAGAMING: Do not use information acquired OOC In Character, should be simple enough.
POWERS: The powers on this site are divided in 8 different categories (Physical, Mental, Molecular Manipulation, Force Manipulation, Energy Manipulation, Elemental Powers, Transportational Powers and Shapeshifting). Characters are allowed five [5] abilities that are
Related (i.e. make sense when paired together) and one [1] separate ability (any other power of your choosing). This brings the total powers a character can have to six [6].
>>> The "Force Manipulation" and "Elemental, Weather and Environmental powers" list is limited to one [1] force/element per character.
>>> Be logical when choosing the powers. Be reasonable when applying them in a thread. Don't have your character do things with his or her abilities that they shouldn't be able to do, don't try to find loopholes through the descriptions and limitations. If we notice you doing it, we will simply take that power away from you.
SEXUAL CONTENT: MVC is a Mature R rated forum. That means sexual encounters can and will happen on here and we are fairly open in this, however, we do not want detailed, borderline pornographic descriptions of said activities. You can IMPLY something kinky happened. You cannot DETAIL how kinky. We want to incite interest, not erections.
>>> We do not allow activity of the sexual nature with characters that are under eighteen [18] years of age NO MATTER WHAT.
>>> Rape scenes are NOT allowed here. The event can be said to have 'happened', but we do not need to read about it in detail.
>>> No sex-based threads. Fade to black.
>>> We reserve the right to delete posts we determine to be too graphic for others (sex, gore, language,...).
>>> Failure to abide by these rules will lead to a week-long ban.
Graphics
BREAKING THE SETTING: It's NOT allowed to have graphics that portray antiquated items, devices, weaponry, etc. MVC is STRICTLY future-fantasy. We also do not allow magic, mysticism, the supernatural as a whole and/or alien/extraterrestrial beings and technology.
STRETCHING: We don't allow images that stretch the board. The Maximum size is 300px, for character images and signatures, and 200x for avatars.
FICTIONAL IMAGES: Images of Real Life people are not allowed. We will accept an Real Life image if it’s fantasy-based [i.e., Sonny from I, Robot, etc]
OFFENSIVE MATERIAL: We do not allow images that contain content that may insult others (nudity, slavery, forced submission, etc.
We do not allow images that contain content that may insult others (nudity, slavery, forced submission, etc.
>>> Staff itself retain the right to decide what is and isn't allowable.
Activity
REGISTRATION: All new accounts require admin validation. Accounts that are not validated within one weeks time are automatically deleted. Staff does not validate 'ghost' accounts/accounts for players we have not 'met' in either the cbox or in one of the guest friendly boards. We dislike dummy accounts.
THREE WEEKS: Threads which go unreplied to for three weeks will be archived.
VANISHING: Vanishing or abandoning the site means you forfeit. However, if you make a LoA we will preserve your spot. You are responsible for letting Staff know you’ll be back.
ABSENCE: If you will be gone for a lengthy period of time, leave a message in the appropriate OOC Section.
POSTING FREQUENCY: We do not enforce a set posting frequency. However, if you cannot maintain a routine posting schedule, be so considerate as to let your RP partners know.
Tech and Equipment
FAIRNESS: MVC takes places in a distant future where science and technology have thrived, becoming as potent as any magic in another forum. This means a player could achieve affects similiar to those listed in the powers section via devices or gizmos and thereby circumvent the entire clause regarding superpowers and how they are to be portrayed in MVC. To prevent this 'loophole' from becoming a major issue MVC's policy towards 'acceptable' and 'unacceptable' technology and devices is a case-by-case basis. Depending on the nature of the devices in question we may or may not allow them. We, as Staff and the Creators of MVC retain the right to judge what is fair and unfair, and will do so accordingly. Overly powerful or 'perfect' tech will not be allowed, period.
