- Guess who just got back from California and bought lotto tickets and won $170 million! Not me. It was a nice car ride back imagining it though. Got 1 number outta 6, no prize. - Anyways, I'm feeling young and reckless. On the way back, I had this whole plan concocted. I even had a skewed UNLV vs UNR cost chart. I was like, 2 days, that's plenty of time! I'll set up my Stafford Loan now, apply for classes and leave! But then I got home. My car is being repaired. My application hasn't been completely processed yet. Then I realized how short 2 days actually is. Last minute has never let me down before, just frustrated. It doesn't work when there's thousands of dollars at stake though. - And so...my final decision is to go to UNLV for 1 semester. Get all my stuff sorted out for the next 4 months. Education wise, UNLV is only lacking the Video Game Design minor I feel would be useful. Quality wise, it really is up to me on where my degree lead. I'm going to take a few classes that both schools have. Calculus II, Computer Science I (Yeah, I feel like retaking it despite doing it for 2 years), Composition I (Mid semester class), Drawing I (Wow, it's like I'm repeating highschool). And...I guess that's it. ... CARAPFfalsdjf;lajdf Just saw a huge flaw in this plan as well!!!!!

Perhaps one day I'll see you during the semester. I tend to notice people from SRHS. Although most of the time I don't care to strike up conversation.

- I somehow was able to reschedule a few classes. Math 182 (M, W, F), CS202 (T, R), and PSC101 (T, R). My problem right now is that I'm not sure if my classes are paid for. I faxed my credit card info, because I'm not sure if my Stafford Loan stuff is done. But, an ENG101 class opened up and I'm not sure I can add it anymore. - I'm used to Java. Actually, I need a little refresher after a summer of no programming. Will I have to know C++ beforehand for Computer Science II?

The professor of CS 202 will likely expect you to have the skills taught in CS 135 in C++. So yeah, it'd likely be helpful to have the basics of procedural programming and syntax in C++. Here's what my syllabus said in Spring regarding the matter... "One of the pre-requisites for this course if CSC-135 or equivalent. You are expected to have experience in developing small size programs in C/C++. In this course the emphasis is on developing moderate size programs using the concept of classes and data abstraction. C++ will be used for programming exercises. Written communication skill in the form of design, analysis, and internal documentation is required. . . ." "Review of CSC-135: User defined functions, parameter passing, scope, and overloading. Arrays and String. Design, analysis, and implementation issues in program-development." As for what I remember being taught in CS 135. The professor focused mainly on things such as ... the standard library string class, input and output, file streams (i/o), arrays (not dynamically allocated), and structs to store different kinds of data together. And, of course, C++ syntax as you go for things like functions, variable declarations, commenting, etc. You can look at that link I gave before to see all the stuff the professor taught by going to the lecture notes section. http://web.cs.unlv.edu/lee/cs135/cs135materials.htmlMy CS 202 class wasn't so great, I don't think the professor got through things as completely as he should have (that's just a problem with the professor I had, though; apparently others had better experiences elsewhere). From what I remember of that class, you're expected to know some basic C++ syntax already. I can't really comment as to what these "basics" are since I already knew the material from both of these classes for years now. Well, if you run into problems, you could always ask here.
