Space was once believed by a certain species to be vacant of others. If others did exist, it was because they were dormant, waiting. In the dark passage of time itself, history has repeated time and time again. War is the common characteristic of the strong and the weak, who fought each other often. Beyond the systems many grew accustomed with, these same things were carried out every day and bloodshed was just as common. There was more for some, but more than plenty for most. The tribes of mankind, a militant race - if not a weaker one, expanded into the new worlds some became lost. Bordering the lawless Terminus Systems, they were without the protection of the Alliance. With the Attican Traverse at their back more than ever, these new pioneers found themselves to be the victims of pirates from nearly all species.

Around the time 2160-2169, pirate factions found themselves locked in war. As a result of their conflict, entire colonies would soon revolt when a small army came to conquer them. The demand of man power and resources were constant, but with such need came the age-old flaw of conscious beings. Whether it was Turian, Quarian or Human, greed and the desire for power grew strong. Rather than fight each other for another decade, unable to take over even the smallest of worlds and prey to those from deep within the Terminus itself - a coalition of the pirates were made. While hesitant at first, they had a common goal. To destroy a system that they leeched off of and take the riches it had to offer.

But something changed, which would change the course of their history forever. Decades of destruction had past, heroes such as Shepard were laughed at and mocked by these rag-tag warriors. Barbarians who only saw gratitude in the fact that their target was preserved from another threat, allowed to be attacked by themselves for more years to come. Some will see it as a stain to the timeline, others as a missed opportunity. For a brief time, Skorpius allied with the Confederacy growing in the Terminus. It was the beginning of a new era, what would soon become a cold war.

The Federation did not hold the same goals or ambitions. Their absorption of several armies under Skorpius resulted in some internal conflict among the feudal standing of the organization. Aggression rose, a schism was threatened at one time. A civil war was unneeded, especially if it would simply lead to another decade of suffering. Under the threat of being destroyed by the Confederacy itself, the wolves within Skorpius had found themselves glued together indefinitely. Many expected to see the front of war, its ugly face and whatever was offered as a result of combating Citadel forces. An enemy soon to become utterly hated by the leadership, under a man known as the second Zenith.

They split from the Confederacy and the Skorpius Resistance Front was formed. As the fight with the Citadel lowered in priority, the States of the Terminus found a new target. It was a dark time for Skorpius, but they were remembered for their fight. They had the heart to rebel, making them a hero to some in the Citadel, before the eventual 'return'. But with political assassinations on the rise, numbers lowering, the growing pirate organization went into what was known as the "Days of Retreat". At the rim of the Attican Traverse, asylum was found. The pillagers were being pillaged, but as the light faded from their direction the end of the golden age drew near. Some thought that they died out, or continued on their nomadic ways, traveling with Quarians. For awhile, they walked out of the picture of existence.

The face of Skorpius was hidden among a billion stars.

But with every new era, there is a surprise.

ATTENTION: THE FOLLOWING IS A BROADCAST FOR SKORPIUS NETWORKS.

CELLS BE ALERTED - MEMBERS AND NEW RECRUITS PREPARE FOR A MESSAGE FROM YOUR ZENITH
The following is being broadcasted to you - be sure to make your terminal or omni-tool be secured to prevent possible leeching from the enemy

Saul had taken power not too long ago, he had plans that some did no anticipate. He was a man of strategy, despite his condition. The Skorpius network was an invention suggested by him. An independent news system, transmitted to major Nadir - cell leaders, to be distributed widely to Skorpius members and associates. New recruits had the honour of receiving such news. Those fortunate enough to have functioning omni-tools in the sectors, hacked so that they can receive the transmission without interference, would hear the words of Saul first. It was rare these things were made on a large scale, the constant threat of someone listening in was apparent. This was not to be an announcement made for the galaxy, but rather those loyal to the Mark.

The image was blurry at first, but one would have had to expect such. Zenith Saul positioned himself on his throne, being sure to remain comfortable and professional. He had to represent the power he had, despite his disease. His disease ate at him, something long cured on Earth. An age old sickness, tearing away the leader, it was a depressing sight. To keep the morale, his face was that of a metal mask. Saul was the face of Skorpius, not an iron fist, but a single man who hid behind an immortal expression. With the heavily armoured 'Iron Giants' beside him, they only added to his already evident confidence. A born leader, the Zenith was also a talented political speaker.

"It has been awhile, since we have come together like this. Before my time, as Zenith and as a living being, Skorpius had strived in the darkness. But why do we hide, when we can finally capture light for ourselves? Life in general is the following of a path, whether it is predetermined or not. We have power, we have influence, and we have an agenda that will benefit the universe as a whole. We are bringing order through chaos, a spear to the heart of an already dying universe. As a reward for this righteous deed, this pillaging of a galaxy that resembles death like carrion among open graves, we are to take the riches of the enemy for our own."

He leaned forward, his eyes visibly blinked. The eye lids looked repulsive up close, but merely scarred at a distance. Saul's skin was littered with an unmentionable plague to his humanity, something that will end him before his time. The looming death that stalked him manifested carefully in his left eye, which looked emotionless. Not lazy, but simply like it had died, like much of his flesh. The right eye however, was lively and intense. It stared down the lens of the device being used to record him, to broadcast this message to his people. For the new recruits, this was the first time they saw the much talked about leader. Zenith Saul was weak physically even now, he could only hope that his name and words would outlive him by centuries.

"As you may know, the Smuggler's Legion of the Runner's Guild is stationed on Omega. We have an opportunity, before our rivals, to take more territory for ourselves. This is one step closer to our grand check-mate, our final victory which will come centuries from now. Those who will walk in line, fight among the Smuggler's will be rewarded with the Mark of Skorpius. To new recruits, your membership will be fulfilled indefinitely." Saul let his back touch the chair once more, simply hovering forward made what remained of his nerves ache. But he could not show weakness or the true advancement of his illness, if any enemies were somehow tuning in. With a voice of pride, as soft as it was, he announced a message somewhat surprising. "I do not declare war, just yet. Prepare your men, we will wait for the proper opportunity. Members of Skorpius, leave prejudice at the door and work with the Smugglers when the time comes. Loner-Mercenaries, your contract states that you will fight for us in times of dire need. New recruits - I am a merciful leader - for each of you dead there will be a name for a memorial."

In a final display, Saul stood. The image drew back and refocused. His throne in full view, his loyal bodyguards stood by with intimidating looks. So far, he had spoken of kindness and with gratitude, almost like he was to beg. But that was not the way of Skorpius at heart - there was always a catch. Infamous for his conclusions, it would take a physical struggle to once again prove his dominance - to surpass similar messages given in the past. The Zenith forced himself to stand, without assistance from his servants, he succeeded in such. He did not feel the pain, but his body certainly did. "For those who are not Skorpius members watching this, may the punishment extend to your families as well."

TRANSMISSION END
Skorpius network transmission is now offline.
This message has been produced and written by Zenith Saul.
Brought to you by Nadir Heinrich.
Distributation and leaking of this message to outside sites, information or media outlets - will be considered treason.

[Please excuse tardiness... christmas, shopping, pandamonium... short post is short but wasn't quite sure what to post]

Things had been quiet... too quiet in fact, in some ways that could be considered a good thing, it meant Skorpius hadn't been on the receiving end of any attacks from its enemies... on the other hand it meant Skorpius hadn't made any progress for a while, things were starting to stagnate.

Fortunately, Kyle, the ever faithful or if not faithful.. comitted, he remained within the disreputable organisation because anywhere else likely had a certain level of ettiquette that he just couldn't hope to match.

Then the Zenith spoke, and his speech would most certainly reinvigorate those that listened, Kyle was certainly feeling inspired... or maybe it was the booze he was drinking?

A lil from column a, a lil from column b...

Heinrich was already preparing the troops, all members of the Smuggler's Legion - his rule over the Runner's Guild allowed him to temporarily take control of the reins indefinitely for this faction. His ship approached the docking bay where the Smugglers typically had their product shipped in. The smell of Omega was an intoxicating one, which is why Heinz personally war his helmet everywhere he went outside of his casual 'homes'. The Legion themselves were the same in appearance and just as intimidating. He was greeted with utmost respect, the pirate-soldiers gave a salute as their superior passed them on foot and proceeded toward the apartment building which was taken over by these ruthless individuals years ago.

Before heading into the lobby area, someone at the entrance had addressed themselves toward the Nadir, the cell leader. His mask had the imprint of a skull on it, which made his rank all the more recognizable. Surely this one had seen some devastating battles - it was a beautiful thing to the fighters of Skorpius. Heinrich took upon this greeting well and paused his pursuit for the elevator. His voice came out deeper than it usually was, it was enough to startle the once confident trooper. "At ease, you have proven yourself worthy already - there is no need to try and impress now." The Nadir, one who had taken many lives and has collaborated even more in similar cause spoke like a true gentlemen. This seemed less like a military arrangement to him, it was probably far too natural and set into the rut of his life for it to be anything special.

The soldier's body movements proved to be nervous, despite the reassurance. He may have been on high on his own supply, which was excusable considering what will soon take place on this planet. Either way, the pirate cleared his throat and straightened his posture. It was less a sign of a respect as it was a representation of being comfortable with the company of such a higher ranked member. "We have moved the final shipment in for the day - we are very glad to have you here Nadir Heinrich, welcome to what Omega calls the 'Merchant's Guild'." The name has not been too popular on Omega, or at least not yet. It has been established for awhile, but has had far too little notice from the media. At times, it felt as if the only people who knew of this small Skorpius presence on the hellhole Omega were the nearby, low-time scum who rivaled them.

Heinrich was pleased. He had high expectations for these men, despite their outdated gear and weapons - they will soon become some of the best that the force has to offer. Their name will be risen higher than the stars in due time, as long as they followed the orders of the Nadir of course. "Do not fret, soon there will be war greater than you ever imagined my friend, the Syndicate dogs will know death in the following hours." Those words alone perked up the surrounding soldiers, some of which who were just barely in ear-shot as they moved large crates containing red sand into the compound opposite to the apartment building. It was a parking complex, not to mention a vantage point for Smuggler snipers and artillery.

"Perhaps you were not informed, there will be more of us soon, in fact the Hand of Skorpius will bless us when they arrive." While hard to tell, Heinrich had the feeling that the skull-faced pirate had his eyes open wide. He did not know, neither did the others, how important they were strategically to these events. If the Halcyon Myriad was approaching the planet as they spoke, then something surely was up. While of course, only a small number of the entire armada would join in on the conflict - their placement could only be given due to an order by the Zenith them self. Everyone now knew, Syndicate blood will be spilled soon.

Heinrich continued on, but soon there will be more ships in the bay. More than there ever have been before and not a single one would be carrying any drugs. Just troops, hardened veterans who wanted to mutilate, rip and tear the hearts out of the Syndicate who would more than likely be part of the assault. With Skorpius' neutral 'friendship' with Eclipse - the Blue Suns will be an additional target. Soon, the gutters of Omega will be overwhelmed with blood and the guts of those who dare defy the master plan of the Zenith.

Flick was on the first shipment of soldiers. Some new recruits were nervous wrecks. Others were hardened and standing ready for anything. The transmission ended after he spoke some words of encouragement. Flick remained sitting on the ship when the pilot came on the speaker.

"We'll be docking soon. Get your game faces on!"

Flick watched everyone finally get into gear. People who were nervous were now calming down and the others remained silent. Flick hit his fists together and cracked his neck. One of the new recruits leaned over to him.

"Can't wait... I just need to kill something. I'm going to be the next best thing here."

Flick didn't say anything only thought that the kid was going to get himself killed. No one could rush into battle with that attitude and survive. Flick rolled his shoulders as the recruit turned his attention away from Flick and tithe other recruits. It wasn't long until they hit the dock and the doors opened wide. The recruits and veterans rushed out with their weapons.

Flick was the last one on the ship. He stood up and strapped his pistol to his thigh. He then strapped his assault rifle to his back and his shotgun to his lower back. He walked out of the ship seeing the recruits lined up to meet the commanding officer. Flick walked down and stood behind them. It was obvious he was there. He was taller than most any other species.

Flick heard two men talking. Them he heard something of the hand of skorpius. That's who hired him. Flick wandered if he should make himself present but he disagreed. He rather observe than to intervene at this moment.
