Pandora

First surveyed in early 2262 by the Alexa Corporation, the Pandora system was heralded by it's discoverers as one of the greatest finds in recent history. Home to two habitable worlds and vast quantities of resources associated with colonization efforts, the star system saw the first human settlements just sixteen months after the initial discovery as six thousand colonists set their sights on Anesidora and Kylix. However, due to the proximity to the Terminus systems, Pandora would later become a haven for illegal activities as the Alliance lost its grip on colonial outposts in the system.

- Pithos -

Pithos is the innermost planet of the Pandora system, orbiting its parent star every 146.224 days. A rocky world, Pithos is completely devoid of life and has been marked as an 'unimportant' planet by the Alliance Geographical Survey. On its surface, traces of rare minerals and materials have been detected by recent studies, but due to the nature of the planet it is doubtful any attempts to mine the planet will come to fruition.

Similar to Pithos, Prometheus is the second-closest planet to Pandora and shares many of the same traits as its so called 'sister' planet. On its surface, several materials such as titanium and iron have been discovered and was slated to be home to a large mining operation.

- Anesidora -

The third planet of the Pandora system, Anesidora is a habitable world that was a prime candidate for colonization due to its natural earth-like biosphere and an orbital period of 384.115 days. Once home to nearly four-hundred thousand colonists from four Citadel governments, in recent years the population has fluctuated as they system drifted towards alignment with the Terminus systems with an influx in piracy and crime.

Occasionally referenced as 'Contention' due to its wild west reminiscent reputation and the vast deserts that cover the surface of the planet, the world is known to contain large quantities of valuable materials vital to the massive interstellar economic systems of the Citadel governments and a prime target for mining operations by private corporations.

- Kylix -

The fourth-closest planet to the star Pandora, Kylix was the second colony in the system and a very Earth-like planet in terms of planetary ecosystems and terrain. With an orbital period of 424.26 days, Kylix has two natural satellites similar to Luna, and Europa of the Sol System.

- Mordecai -

The third planet in the Pandora system to be marked for colonization attempts, Mordecai has an orbital period of 1023.446 days and has a single satellite, Esther. Although the planet appears to be inhabitable by terrestrial lifeforms, the world is virtually covered entirely by acidic grasslands that pose a significant threat to both colonists and equipment on the surface. With an unusually strong magnetic field, and its proximity to widely used shipping and travel routes, Mordecai is routinely visited by military and civilian vessels in order to discharge their drive cores; however, is considered risky for merchant vessels due to high piracy rates.

- Theogony -

The gas giant Theogony is the fifth, and largest planet of the Pandora system. Originally targeted for Helium-3 production, a permanent band of the rare material element zero was detected in the upper atmosphere of Theogony just months after the system was surveyed. Due to the presence of near-perpetual electrical storms within the planets atmosphere, the element zero band has been reduced in mass to the point that it is not heavy enough to descend into the inner atmosphere of world. In orbit, a small mining platform has been constructed in order to skim both eezo and He-3 from the planets atmosphere, and is normally host to an Alliance frigate to deter raiders.

Due to the presence of element zero, Theogony has been at the head of several conspiracy theories over the years trying to answer the mystery. Even recently, a number of universities have proposed attempts to better explore the interior of the gas giant in order to search for evidence relating to the unusual appearance of the material.

- Hesiod -

The sixth and final planet in the Pandora system, Hesoid is a small ice world that lies over nine million kilometers from its parent star. Rarely visited, the planet has no permanent population and is not listed as viable target for colonization or mining.
