Manufacturer: Felix Armament IndustriesYear Constructed: 12-2198
Classification: Combat Decoy Drone
Description: The Systems Alliance had been more receptive to expanding the use of unmanned combat drones, particularly when dealing with ship-to-ship combat. Although developing other projects alongside this, Felix Armament Industries unveiled the Doppelganger to Alliance military officials as a new weapon against growing enemy powers.
The Doppelganger is essentially a VI-controlled drone missile which emits a mass effect field for a period of time. The effect is that sensors detecting the drone will confuse it with a craft larger than it like a fighter or a dropship. If enough drones are flying in close formation, they can give off the silhouette of a cruiser or even a dreadnought. The illusion of a ship could then either prompt the hostile party to pull away and retreat or to move on it suspecting it to be a real vessel, distracting them and putting them out of position.
The ADE-31's development and fielding is currently a closed-tight secret of the Alliance military. Details surrounding how many have been produced or shipped are also under lock-and-key at F.A.I.
