Physical Description: Aden when we first met was a bit thin, mostly a man of energy and not power. However, that was a few years ago yet, and Aden has swelled to 180 pounds of toned muscle, standing just under 6 feet tall. To take him lightly because of his unintimidating size as a human would be a inexcusable mistake, and even though he looks wry and quiet, pacifistic and controlled, he is anything but. A bit on the pale side with a wry face, Aden is again not very scary, and the last few years have only helped to make him more pale, a bit more scared. He does have striking features, a sharp nose and a well defined chin, with eyes are a sharp blue, a side-effect of his Element Zero exposure. These eyes are so potent that they actual pulse as he speaks and fights, glowing a brilliant blue that looks almost unreal. His hair, a dark brown, is short on the sides, but long on top, spiking up in the front usually. Because he is mostly quiet, his face is rather simple, his lips plan and his eyes often looking out into the distance. When he does smile, it is one that can move you, a beautiful bird hardly ever left out of his cage. This does change however, the moment he enters combat. For many reasons, Aden is an intense fighter, one who revels in combat and is known to shout and curse, rant and rave. His face contorts to positions one would not expect of the stoic and almost silent man.

His attire is rather odd, a mix of his very long and twisted past. Once a mercenary with the Eclipse gang, Aden was usually seen in yellow armor, but, now that he has left the group, his armor is black with yellow detailing for effect, to show his complete mirror of the group’s current goals. His armor is a light-model, his status as a former Eclipse Vanguard made him accustomed to the lightweight but low protection suit. Now, atop this he has put a black coat that reaches down to his knees, very similar to a once famous assassin. His thin armor and his coat give him the look of an Adept, a man without in-depth combat experience. Once again though, Aden is very contradictory to his look. The final piece of his puzzle lies in his old helmet, one that he wore in the Eclipse Group’s special Vanguard Team, the EVT. It is wedged at the front, with one large, red screen over his eyes, with a single mandible going over his face. On the back of the strange-looking helmet are four appendages that come out in a block formation, reaching out about 9 inches. It all looks very strange, and its purpose unknown, but when he dawns this helm, Aden’s transformation becomes complete…the calm Aden is gone and the brash “Overkill” has arrived. Despite the last 3 years being spent with the PMC Phoenix, his gear does not show any change to it.

Personality: The duality of Aden’s personal was best described by his alter-ego and fighting persona “Overkill”. While the man himself was quiet and serious one, he was more recognized by his fierce nature in battle. Aden himself is a blunt man of few words, one who was forged from biotic experiments and Mercenary work. He shed all the frivolous feelings he had, and kept those that mattered; anger, sadness, pain, happiness, and lust. When he uncovered the full scope of his childhood, Aden decided he would bring payment back in full to the crooked system that had created the likes of him. But as he did just that, slaughtering nameless other mercs and crime bosses, he discovered the unending truth, that they would always exist, these evil men that plagued the galaxy like rats in a cellar. He decision then, was too accept the inevitable, and take as many of them out as he could at one time. His plan was diabolically simple, and would without a doubt end in his death, but he accepted it freely. His blunt and serious nature took a tapering of sincerity then, and he accepted his repentance of death by fire as the justice for his life of desire. Now alone, he would creep towards his death, preparing in every way possible for his ultimate demise. His acceptance only made him more human however, adding light to the darkness that had controlled him for so long. A conscious began to develop where only violence had ruled, and his march became more of a crusade, his journey became a pilgrimage to the rightful death, instead of just a crazy act in a stupid play.

But his now tempered realism would never change his other half, the side known to the galaxy as “Overkill”. Identified by his maniacal laugh and over the top enjoyment of destruction, “Overkill” was the name derived from his tendency to cause wanton damage when fighting. He was taught at a young age that the use of his severely enhanced biotic powers would result in an injection of endorphins, as well as a meal and a chance to sleep in a life-long training room, he grew into a lover of the drug. When combat arises at his biotic levels spikes, Aden became a laughing maniac, who kills almost indiscriminately, all the while enjoying every minute like some possessed mad man. Playing almost the foil to his calm and now sincere demeanor, this phase of his personality was characterized by psychotic and perverse uses of force.

Only by understanding both sides can the man really be seen as he is, a man facing the demons of his past with every waking moment; a product of corruption greed and hatred, and one who is willing to throw that hatred away just to spite those that nurtured it. What the world will do with both sides of Aden “Overkill” is still up in the air, but either way it will certainly be one hell of a ride.

Biography: Unlike many of those around him, Aden was born in the Terminus system, on the rock known only as Omega. Born to a poor family, with nothing to their name, his druggie mother used him as the necessary tool for advancement, and within a few days of his birth he was sold to some Asari scientist on the planet of Illium. It was a good cover-story, and upon his arrival the experiments began. Because he wasn’t exposed to a great deal of Element Zero before being born, he would simple have to be caught up. And, even though Aden had a biotic inclination, his affliction would have been rather minimal if not for his Asari owners. With cutting-edge implants and great exposure to EZ, Aden became a walking time bomb with extreme potential as a biotic user. It wouldn’t take long for the young man to find a place that would be conducive to this attitude, and at the tender age of 12 he came upon the Eclipse Mercenary Group, or private defense firm, depending on your inclination. The group immediately saw his potential, and he joined quickly.

The next few years of his life were a blur, running from system to system with his Merc brethren, doing what was necessary. However, it wasn’t long before he made a stop back to Illium, and saw his “parents”. Without many words, the once-upon-a-time runaway made sure that no one would suffer the same fate as himself, laying the ‘clinic’ to waste. The hardened gunner took what he wanted from the place and fell back in line with Eclipse, where his skills earned him a place within the selected group of Vanguards. There, Aden would be transformed into a force of nature, and he would benefit the organization of course. But, nevertheless, not even this glorious relationship could last forever.

One day, while working in Omega, Aden finished his daily rounds and retreated to one of the many wards for a quick eat before returning to his own makeshift residence. As he walked down a lone corridor, a slim woman backed up from a doorway. She pleaded with the unseen member of the discussion, begging that they leave her alone, she would bring them the money they needed just as soon as she could, and that she was good for it. Her thin frame and many scares portrayed a life of hardship, and as the assailant shot her in the gut, she collapsed to the floor. That man stepped out from the doorway, his blue armor appearing in the dimly lit space. He was a Blue Sun. Without a word, Aden took out his heavy pistol and shot the man in the head, the fool didn’t have a kinetic barrier shield. Stepping to the woman, Aden’s life would change, for when she looked up at him, his thin face and his short, cropped and buzzed hair, she smiled wryly and said but one word.

“Aden”

And so, he would spend the next few weeks traversing his own history of paperwork, finding out where he had come from, a subject he had never broached before. When he finally discovered that the woman he had stood over was in fact is mother, the man left his old life behind. He left Eclipse to find a new path, hoping deep down to destroy whatever had stripped him a decent, normal life; knowing very little where it would take him. Upset that his life, the one that he had made for himself off his own grit, the life that had forced him to plunder, kill, rape and degrade everything around him was a result of the very Terminus system itself, Aden decided he would fight that system until he took his last breath.

He holds no false dreams, has no fake perception of himself; he is a criminal, a man that has done great evils to those around him so that could succeed in building himself up. He is no prophet, but Aden has decided he will strike a new path, one that may take him against the organization that harbored him, but he does not fear.

Once he stood overlooking Illium once again, in a back alley with a surprisingly good view. His heavy pistol turned against his own head, Aden tried to do himself away, thinking that he could not make anew the life he had been stripped of, when a hand touched his shoulder. A man of immense strength stood with him, apparently in need of an able crew for his own exploits. Aden looked at the man, his pulsing blue eyes seeing something that he could follow. If he died on this trip, then who was really the worse for it, he would throw himself to the fate that he could find first.

“Overkill, at your service”

He would join this group, known simply as Phoenix for the next few years. Its purpose as a fledgling PMC was to more or less terrorize the Terminus Systems and its many other Mercenary Groups. They were going to cause as much chaos as possible, and then when the heat got too hot, like the Phoenix itself they would vanish into the ashes only to return sometime in the future. This appealed to Aden innately, as all he really required out of his life at the time of his employment was to break the Terminus. His anger fueled his rage and loathing of the many powerful players in the region, and he attacked with gusto, his Phoenix brethren destroying anything that entered their path. The organization collected some of the most ruthless and talented warriors inside the Terminus, and they did just as they planed, until finally it got to be too much; running from the galaxy was no way to live, and finally they had to burn to ash. But this time, when the smoke cleared, Aden was no longer the killer he had been before. He had come to see just what he had done in his life, but instead of giving into the deeper hatred and become the avenger he had been, Aden decided he would turn himself a new leaf, write himself a new script.

Aden the Repented.

The death he had brought about would only be cleansed by either his death, or the death of those who would harm others. It took him years of traveling with crooks and criminals, and 3 years with a crew of rebels to discover that his hatred was not of the world, but of those that sought power over their neighbors. It was the struggle to become the leader that jaded the Terminus, and the only thing he could do about it was draw the struggle to him. So good old “Overkill” took his leave of his Phoenix crew like the others, and set off to become a vigilante against the strongest members of the Terminus. He would at least go out with a bang.

And he was taking the world with him.
I have only slightly edited a very old character with a minimal timeskip, i will admit this is not my best effort, but hopefully it is acceptable.
Unapprovalable at this time.

The image in the profile is from an Artist I know does not allow their works to be used outside DA.

I had three pictures, so i assumed on the one you had a problem with and removed it. Frankly speaking i couldn't care less about the picture, but i would appreciate any substantive remarks of value as to the quality of the character and profile.

Sorry for a delay in response.

First off, impressive character in creation.
You definitely know your things regarding biotics and have done your research.
However, one of my bigger critiques would be against the fact he gained membership at the age of 12 under Eclipse.
I doubt they accept child soldiers.

Second of all, that image belongs to Hokunin on deviantart and he is quiet picky about his art being used.
After all, not to long ago someone actually made a profit off of work stolen for him - I doubt he would give permission for external use of it as well
Your written description is good enough to stand on its own.
So you can either find another, usable image or delete it.

Until then rating is pending.

In accordance with your grading i switched the pictures once again. I'm honestly not concerned with the picture itself, but felt the profile needed some color, so if this doesnt work then ill remove all pictures.

My concern regarding the Eclipse aspect, is that his history was previously approved when i joined the sight last time, and it would rub me the wrong way to have to change his fundamental history now.

However, if his skills alone could not warrant his use as a biotic in Eclipse, i could devise a larger backstory that had him in more of a trial role until he was a bit older.

Thank you for your response, i was beginning to wonder.

Admin bossman here, just want to clear a few things up with you since you seem to have some concerns.

In regard to image usage, Mass Effect Universe has earned an infamous reputation around several circles of being art thieves and plagiarists for the use of peoples' art/work without permission or even question/told that it was going to be used as a reference. The updated image rules is meant to reduce this. As an animator and graphic designer myself, I can understand completely where they are coming from in not desiring their work to be used without their permission.

Use of such materials under Creative Commons licenses allow individuals to use their works for non-profit reasons, such as a simple reference image to a character or piece of tech in the lab. However, the artist still needs to be asked for permission and cited as the original creator of the work even under CC licenses.

It is more or less a boilerplate disclaimer to prevent any further issues from arising.

As for your issues regarding this character's backstory and moral/ethical implications of Eclipse taking on a child into their ranks, as both administrator of the forum and the current Commandant (leader of Eclipse), I'm going to have to say that is a no-go for a plethora of reasons. As a business, they have no desire to implicate themselves into such questionable actions, especially after the clean-up campaign of their public image to appear more professional and increase business.

I understand that he may have been approved before, but that was beneath a different staff and different mindset of rules. Eclipse will take him on at the age of 18 as that is when humans are, on average, considered full-fledged adults physically and mentally. He may sign on and begin company training at that age, but no sooner.

My suggestion would be for him to acquire training at a younger age from elsewhere, such as mercenaries or some other form of freelance/non-associated training. This is the Terminus Systems after all, plenty of people around willing to lend their instruction for the right price.

Another question arises from this asari scientist in experimenting upon a human infant. While the goal is for the sake of biotics and harnessing as much power as possible, what does the scientist stand to gain with all this expenditure, time, and effort to do so? These things are expensive and no one performs such procedures and testing out of the kindness of their heart to turn anyone into a killing machine. A bit more information on the logic behind doing so couldn't hurt.

I am not opposed to him gaining training and control of his biotics as a growing child beneath the controlled environment that this scientist and whomever else oversees the progress, but I'm afraid him becoming a full-fledged mercenary at the age of 12 with Eclipse is not possible.
