Description: The Assignment

Mr. Dust - January 25, 2012 02:12 AM (GMT)
Location:
The Citadel, Presidium, Citadel Tower, Councilor Vragul's Office

Date:
14th January, 2201

Charles Hunter had been given six months to get a handle for the SUS Picasso, six months was all the time Vragul was prepared to grant the human. While Charles was certainly not the most experienced pilot amongst humans he'd ever heard of, he did bring a certain 'charm' to the ship that likely would've been lost on a more seasoned pilot, that and he was human. Elenor would probably find it easier to sleep at night with a human at the helm though he wouldn't be able to make him and Elenor get along with each other.. that was completely out of his hands.. effectively.

If nothing else, he didn't have doubts about entrusting the ship to Hunter, it would've been a disgrace to all the effort put into the ships construction not to mention demeaning to Elenor as well. He'd have none of that!

"Spectre Elenor, the councilor will see you now" said Vragul's assistant, motioning her towards the office door.

Inside the office, it was still as littered with art displays and canvas's, some yet to be finished, others scarcely started. There was one picture, while not quite finished suggested a very macabre event, Vragul had done a self-portrait of himself, the incomplete background suggested he was in the presidium garden area, and also included in the background was the illustration of a sniper though its species was impossible to determine.

"Good.. good.. glad to see you here, reviewed your evaluation, quite the military experience, a few humans followed similar patterns, former alliance moved onto special response..." he took a short breath then continued ".. first to become a spectre however. Expect good things to become of this, please.. sit" he beaconed Elenor to sit down on the seat opposite his desk.

"Have assignment for you, long term goal, likely to take months to accomplish. First part, C-Sec recently discovered caches of narcotics upon the Citadel while ousting the remnants of a criminal organisation here, queen of hearts they called it. Troubling, narcotics of Bacalou origin, oya dust.. amongst other things. Unsure how they slipped through customs, not important, being handled by C-Sec Investigations for the moment, news hasn't been released to public yet. Task for you, need you to go to Illium, source out organisation responsible... likely Eclipse, enjoy smuggling rackets."

He took yet another breath before continuing "Illium serves as hub world between council and terminus space, most logical place to start, determine who is responsible and shut down their smuggling operations."

Elenor nodded, stepping into the room, quickly gathering a mental picture of the room. It was clear this Councilor was an art lover, though... the self-portrait was creepy in more ways than one. She'd only just gained her Spectre position, and was still getting used to the fact she was now, technically, her own boss, CO, and the like. Granted, when the Council called, she came, but for the most part, she was on her own. A feeling she was not used to. So, stopping in the center of the room, roughly 3 paces from his desk, she stood at a respectable 'At-Ease' stance.

As he described her ascension to the place of Spectre, she merely wondering what he was getting at. Though, when told to sit, she sat, wondering what was in store for her. As she listened to the report, she almost wished she was on the team that had cracked down on the drug dealers. If there was one thing worse than slavers, it was drug dealers. Selling poison like some sold candy. Addicts would spend everything they had and more, just for one more high on their chosen drug. Most would never overcome it, and die from it. Others just withered away, fading into nothing as their body ate them alive in it's hunger for the drugs. Oya dust in particular was a nasty one.

So, she was bound for Illium. "I see Sir. Should I find the source of the distributor, I am to turn them over to the local authorities, or do you have something else in mind?" She asks, already attempting to decide which style of transport she would be best suited to using to find her way to Illium. It was a moderate distance from the Citadel, but it's location, as the Councilor made mention, made it ideal for find a link, if any existed, between Citadel Space, and the Terminus Systems.

"I see Sir. Should I find the source of the distributor, I am to turn them over to the local authorities, or do you have something else in mind?"

He clasped his hands together "As a spectre I leave the methods of which you use to shut down this operation up to you, eliminating the operators of this cartel will send clear message to others thinking of repeating this line of business.. least where citadel is concerned, however.. culprits may contain wealth of information on similar operations, not neccersarily their own... information best used to shut down others as well. Primary task still.. shut it down, turning them over to authorities also has merits, establishes rapport with Illium authorities for future endeavours though.. some.. prone to corruption.. bribery, may prove only temporary fix, can't say for certain."

Well, that was somewhat refreshing to know. "Yes Sir. If there is nothing else, I will need to begin looking at chartering a flight to Illium, and likely craft a cover, so as to avoid drawing too much attention to myself from these dealers. Nothing will make them scatter faster than word of a Spectre hunting them." Elenor said, waiting to stand until he'd dismissed her. Well, one thing was nice, at least she didn't have to worry about dancing around the bush with this Councilor.

It would make life so much easier knowing this, because then she could easily just state what she needed to know, or needed to tell him, and not worry about spending half an hour to get there.

He pressed his digits upwards against his chin, blinkling silently at Elenor for a few moments. Sure enough, the news of a spectre in the area tends to put anyone on edge, anyone but the foolhardy anyway. Might just be a good thing to scare people, scared people make mistakes, mistakes can prove very costly to people trying to keep their activities on the down-low.

"Unnecersary, already taken care of" he said simply, beaming a smile. "Went one step further myself, acknowledge your past experience often involved working in small teams. Catering to that, best use of your abilities when in situations your accustomed to."

Vragul leaned back in his chair a little bit, tapping his terminal to active-mode. "Have arranged a ship for you to utilize, cutting edge design, no other ship like it, already supported by competent crew.. helsman, human, feel you'd be more comfortable having one of your own piloting the vessel, a Mr Charles Hunter. Don't believe you've crossed paths before."

She thought for a moment. The fact she was being given a ship for this mission, told her it was of something of an importance. But the name of the pilot didn't ring any bells in her head. "I'm afraid the name of hte pilot is not one I'm familiar with. I don't suppose you have a file on him I can review while I get to the ship?" She asked, knowing he'd had access to her omnitool, and it would be an insult to assume he didn't.

Mr. Dust - January 25, 2012 04:01 AM (GMT)
If the human was suprised, she hid it quite well, the fact she was being handed a whole ship as well as crew to manage it with didn't seem to phase her, he'd be lying if he didn't feel a pinch of disheartening, he'd been the one to name it afterall.

"I'm afraid the name of hte pilot is not one I'm familiar with. I don't suppose you have a file on him I can review while I get to the ship?" She asked.

He continued to maintain the small smile across his features "No, as said, don't believe the two of you crossed paths before. Will supply you with file now" he said idly, transferring the dossier to Elenor's omni-tool as well as her private terminal aboard the SUS Picasso.

"Also have several dossiers available on individuals that may catch your interest to help you on your assignments, not convinced that your activities outside the citadel will come to an end with the decomissioning of a smuggling operation, no.. tasking you with bringing safety and stability to the galaxy, no small task.. incredibly difficult to do by ones self!" he said excitedly, even using some mild hand gestures to enthesise his statement.

"Pulled a salarian from Special Response to serve aboard your ship, felt perfect match for both team cohesion and multi-species rapport, Venat Kexen. Good salarian, follows orders. You might say.. rough around the edges, still.. very capable."

Elenor's eyes widened slightly at the mention of that name. "You mean to say sir, you managed to convince Pokerface to join us on this assignment?" She asked, unwittingly using her former co-worker's nickname amongst the Special Response shifts for hte Salarian. While she supposed that this would give her a chance against the Bacalou, since at some point, she'd have to go up against them at some point.

Elenor's eyes widened slightly at the mention of that name. "You mean to say sir, you managed to convince Pokerface to join us on this assignment?" She asked.

Ah, finally, a reaction, she was a human afterall it seemed. Vragul for a fleeting moment wondered if they'd inducted a synthetic lifeform into the ranks of the spectres, fortunately that seemed to be simple lunacy. He gave a curt nod "Yes indeed, though.. to be more accurate, your assignment. This is why the spectres exist afterall, achieve results however they deem neccersary as the council cannot be directly involved."

He tapped his terminal a few more times, bringing up more dossiers. "Again, felt good match, have similar training, know how to co-ordinate with one another, understand rigors of high stress situations, specially when under fire."

Looking to his terminal directly now, he started sending a couple more info packages to Elenor's omni-tool and private terminal. "Received support from human intel group, SAIS to be specific, loaned us one of their agents. Drell, infiltrator, Niyol Akshar, housed on Illium, your own discretion if choose to utilize his aid, been informed to ready self to aid spectre if neccersary."

His face turned into a bit of a grimace with the last dossier he had on file, this one was a bit of a two-fold deal. Firstly, it'd get the being in question off the citadel and out of the councils hair, crests and folds, secondly it'd be a tangible sign that krogan can work co-operatively with the citadel that it was trying to get an embassy with. "Also... one.. last.. dossier, krogan profile.. information.. not incredibly extensive, cannot dismiss combat prowess however. Warmaster Ganar Vrix, currently on the presidium. Should prove good demonstration for krogans in showing they can work co-operatively with citadel forces. Again, all these individuals are but suggestions, being the CO it is down to you to determine whom you want aboard."

Giving each file a quick skim over, she knew she would need allies, but she was concerned over tipping her hand too much. This kind of task, was going to need stealth, covert support, and most importantly, sure intel. "While it is good to know I have options... For this kind of task, I will need more than just good allies. What are the chances of aiding me in crafting a believable cover story for why I'm recruiting these people, when not on the Citadel? For this kind of rag-tag group, most likely cover would be either Mercenary, or paranoid spoiled rich girl. Actually... I will need to manage a trip to my home world on my way to Illium. I think I can piece together a decent cover." Elenor said, working out her basic plan.

She would certainly get a hold of the Krogan. Brute muscle was always useful in combat, maybe even the Drell. As for the cover she had planned, she'd need to speak to her Uncle. The cold hearted bastard he was, in order to get the kind of documentation she needed. Her family rarely did business off Maic would be to secure either valuables for the Household, or to attempt to garner favor with groups that could aid the family, legitimately, improve their standing in the colonial eyes.

He rubbed his horn in thought "Unsure how best sell story of not being affiliated with the citadel once prospective recruits are aboard your ship, fielding a full compliment of navigators, engineers amongst others... feasible for mercenary.. if barely. Common goals may prove to be best tool in your arsenal, anyone being brought upon your ship.. likely co-operative to your endeavours. No sense having them aboard otherwise, tip-toeing aboard your own ship hamstrings ability to carry out your duties."

Elenor nodded. "Yes sir. I think I can convince my family's Head to help craft a story for us, at least to Illium. Suffice to say, once I leave the Citadel, any messages I send will be less then... clear-cut. I'd advise your code-breakers use Alliance Pattern Omega-Delta-5 2194 edition." She said, giving a quick, crisp salute before making her way out the door. Pulling up the file available on the Krogan, Ganar Vrix, she began to review the paperwork, while she awaited for the elevator to reach the Council Floor. Once it arrived, she had to go to the Presidium, looking for the Krogan.
