Have you ever hit a point where you start to rethink goals and wonder if you're on the right path?
For years I've really wanted to be in the animation field and lately I'm leaning away from it, it just seems too far out of my reach. When I logically add up the costs of the school I want to attend, and the cost of living, I just don't think I can do this. Of course, the lack of intelligence in most of today's American animation doesn't bring much motivaion to the table either. XD; I'm starting to wonder if I want to take another path now but I just don't know where I stand. |

Well, to be honest. You should follow what suits you the best. You have the biggest love for that field of work I've ever seen. It would be a shame to see you abandon it.
Personally, I would love to be on a concept team. I've been doing some thinking too and financially I just can't do it. Instead I'm going for a career in Physical Therapy. I have an interest in the field but I'd much rather be drawing and making worlds. The next best thing is to pick a career with a large pay-out to finance your personal studio, or a small local studio. If I get into my field of work, I'm going to use some of the royalty's to have my own personal studio and do some work in art as a side job. Things may be different for you. I've seen that you have your priorities together much better than others your age. I think you could accomplish your goal in animation. It will be a lot of hard work, but you're strong enough to handle it. And in the long run, you'll be able to do what you love every day. |

Hmm. Yeah, it something I really always thought I wanted. I've kind of yearned for my own studio too, and more and more I find myself wanting to pursue comics over animation due to the greater freedom of my own ideas.
I plan on going back to MCC for another round of Life Drawing, just waiting to find out when it's going to be available. I definitely need more experience and a bigger and better portfolio if I'm going to apply. Sometimes I think maybe I should have taken the opportunity Disney gave me when I applied to their park internship, but I don't really know if that would have gotten me anywhere. ^^; |

My friend is taking that internship soon. I'll let you know what she thinks of it.
Also, I think life drawing is offered at the main campus every semester. Gingher is amazing and I'd love to take the next level of Life Drawing once I get more of my core studies done. However, if you'd like, we can try to take the same section. I don't know if it helps you at all, but a good "rival" in class helps me perform better and learn more. |

I was really close, they had me set up to audition as a character actress as well, but I backed out and decided to stick around here, the pay was really low and they said there wouldn't be any art opportunities aside from hanging around the "How to Draw Disney Characters" attraction. *rolls eyes* It'd be interesting to know what she thinks, I've heard it's a lot of fun anyway.
I tried to search for a life drawing course for summer session, but I haven't found it (the new site set up is weird though). I might have to wait until fall...yeah I do like Gingher though I'm dying to take another class with Garrison. He's so mean but the fact that he was really hard on me made me learn a lot. I should put up some of the drawings I did in his class and see if you can give me some critique...and I need to see if I can get some other people to sign up here, lol. |
