Nothing to worry about with the MRI unless you are claustrophobic. It is a tunnel type scanner and is noisy. You will need to remove any metal attracted to magnets as this is what the scanner is. You can take a CD and they will play it for you to listen to. They will also give you a buzzer to press if you need to come out. It usually takes 20 to 30 minutes.

Hi SHS, when I had mine they only put you in the magnet about half way so you are not completly inside the tube. I'm also a bit claustrophobic so was worried about it, but because you are 'outside' from the waist down then it really reduced the feeling of being 'trapped'.
I didn't have to change into a gown. Be prepared to remove all metal jewellery or leave them at home that day. It's quite noisy but you have headphones on. good luck Kathx |

Hi SHS
I have had two MRI's one was my whole body(for my spine) and the other was just my head and shoulders (for my vertigo). I was really worried because I don't like being enclosed but in both cases I just wanted to know what was wrong with me. And the nurses were very reasuring and you have a button to hold and you can press it for them to pull you out. Just think there is nothing in there to hurt you and just relax. You will be fine. Hi SHS
I've had two MRI's. One for Menieres and one for my liver. The one on my liver was more involved as I had to lie with a heavy weight on my stomach and had to keep holding my breath for 30 seconds, which wasn't easy!! I also had the contrast dye injected at various intervals. The one on my head was much easier....in fact although I didn't actually fall asleep, I did go into an almost trance like sensation, even with all the banging! It's really nothing to worry about, you'll be fine :) |

I SURVIVED!
Was in the scanner for 45 minutes which felt like a life time. I was ok until one scan which sounded like a pneumatic drill coming for me and i had a major panic. I managed to breathe through it just about. I really did not like being pinned in! But it's done now. Someone is going to go through the scans then i'm going to get an appointment to see Mr Slack again. Once again Circle Bath triumphed! They really could not do enough for me and i was so grateful for their reassurances and it's amazing how much difference a smile and a bit of kindness makes. :mexican: |

I don't think that will be anything to do with the MRI. It sounds more like you've got a bug of some sort.
Hope you feel better soon |
