Title: I Need A Rant!!!

sharon - January 11, 2012 07:48 PM (GMT)
Oooo I'm fuming
Decided to drive into Town to pop into Boots to collect hubby's asthma prescription.
There is disabled parking right opposite the store and driving down the street I noticed a space.
I reversed into it, displayed my badge correctly and went into Boots.
15 minutes later I came out to find I'd got a parking ticket.
The cars in front of me had parked in a loading bay, bang next to the disabled parking and I'd not realised this. I thought I'd parked in the middle of the disabled bay! Typically they'd gone when I came out so I couldn't even take a picture on my phone to show what had happened.
My front wheels were only just over the line too!! At least 75% of my car was in the disabled bit!
I've appealed but don't hold out much hope....Torbay Council is notorious for it's parking fines

Fingers crossed that they cancel the ticket Sharon.
I think there would have been steam coming out of my ears :hissyfit:

WOOHOO!! :mexican:

I have now had the opportunity to consider your challenge. On this occasion only, I can confirm that this Penalty Charge Notice has been cancelled.

The Council may not be able to cancel Penalty Charge Notices issued in similar circumstances or where the conditions of use of the Blue Badge have not been fully complied with. To avoid receiving further notices, you should ensure that you carefully observe any restrictions in force when you park both in Council owned car parks and on the streets of Torbay.

Yours sincerely

Well Done Sharon. It is always worth 'appealing' in these situations.

Not the same thing but I was once blocked in by a car. When I parked there was a motor bike parked as first vehicle in a bay. I slid in behind without problem and a car parked behind me. When I returned to the car the motorbike had gone and been replaced by a car which had reversed up to touch my bumper and was slightly still outside the bay.. I could do nothing but wait for the driver to return. I explained to the warden and that was ok and he hung around. When the driver returned and I challenged him as to why he had blocked me in he said I had no right to park leaving such a space in front of my car. Why hadn't I pulled forward so a car could park behind me. I tried to explain that there was motorbike there when I parked but he would have non of it. The traffic warden gave him a ticket for being slightly outside the bay and told him he would have got away with it if he hadn't blocked me in.

I was lucky that this warden had some common sense.
