It is a nice kit dude,

Im glad you posted this as I forgot Ive got one in the stash (somewhere unsure.gif )

The hasegawa one is a lot more expensive but Im not sure if thats just the Hasegawa hike up or if its any better. I still like this one and will only get more excited about this aircraft when the trumpy 32nd kit is released speak_cool.gif

Whilst we are on the subject of raptors, I seem to remember there was a special silvery grey paint that was brought out especially for this aircraft. Problem is I cant remember who did it.

Can anyone help as I will want some and no doubt others who are doing one (Mark whistle.gif ) may want some.

Ive googled it and cant seem to find it

It looks like they have taken over the old SNJ stuff which I have so I may try and mix that with some enamels. They dont ship outside the states anyway sadly unsure.gif

just recieved this from a friend on BM

QUOTE
Right, that product is called "Raptor Sheen" and is a metallic additive that can be mixed into any colour paint you want. Currently, this is available for enamel paint, Mr. Color, and acrylics.

http://www.hawkeyeshobbies.com/catalog/misc.htm

Alternately, you coud have a look at this:

How to Paint a Raptor without Raptor Sheen http://zone-five.net/showthread.php?t=15734

In case anyone is curious, the Lockheed Public Relations people have stated that there are no official FS numbers for the F-22. Here is their e-mail on the subject:

"Subject: F-22 Paint Federal Stock Numbers

NOTE: due to the stealth properties of the coatings applied to the F/A-22, the Raptor's appearance in photographs is somewhat different that what might be expected based on the use of standard FS paint numbers listed here. The topcoat's color is a function of viewing angle; therefore, it cannot be represented by a FED-STD color. This is due to its primary function which is not a color coat.

The generic Fed-Std-595 numbers of 36173, and 36251 are provided for painting an F/A-22 model. Please check the F/A-22 web site as we will be posting the decal markings, etc. in the near future."

Elsewhere I've read that the lightest grey (edges of wings and fins, etc.) can be approximated with FS36375.

Cheers,
Bill
