Hi all , Just a few words about Airbase , its a museum consisting of about 30 classic Aircraft, ranging from Dragon Rapides, through to Nimrod. About 85% of the Aircraft are live and flyable. It is also home to Shackleton WR 963, this is I think the worlds last LIVE Shackleton.
Next weekend (10th)we are holding the annual night run, at this we will be running around a dozen of the collections Aircraft, this is of course open to the public.
the following weekend 18th we are having an open cockpit day, where again we will be opening up a number of Aircraft to the public that cannot usualy be seen from the inside.
I will also post on here any significant Aircraft movements, just in case there is any interest

Well we managed to deafen a few people last night at the engine run, but we did take 963 up to 2000 rpm on each engine , also made a few photographers happy with the fire on no 1 engine, not sure about outside but it looked fairly spectacular from my seat!!!

Hi all its been quiet on her over the winter but there are now a few things coming up that some of you may be interested in.
On the 21 of April we have the 206 SQDN reunion and an engine run by the Shackleton,
On the 9th of June we have Project Propeller, for those who dont know this has been set up to allow around 300 WW2 aircrew veterans the chance to fly again, the BBMF will be there with at least a flypast and all the aircraft will be available for viewing, it may be that PA 474 and WR963 will be running at the same time, something not seen for many years.
On the 30th of June we have the summer open cockpit day, around a dozen of the Airbase fleet will be open, and there is the chance to sit on the cockpit of these Aircraft. In will put a list up as soon as it is confirmed.
On the 21st of july there is the open cowlings day, this is just what it says. We will open the engine cowlings on as many of the classic flight as we can, a great photo opportunity for us modelers, if youve never seen a Griffon uncowled before this is your chance, again a list will be on here as soon as it is confirmed
At all of these events there are no restrictions on photography, but on the open cockpit day there will be a loose object bowl at each aircraft
