MADOKA MAGICA;;
"Puella Magi Madoka Magica" is a 2011 anime produced by SHAFT. It is about an average middle schooler, Madoka Kaname, who becomes caught up in a war between magical girls and witches when she finds a small animal named Kyubey who tells her that she ahs the potential to be a great magical girl too, along with her best friend, Sayaka Miki. However, Homura Akemi, the new girl at Madoka's school is dead set against it, despite being a magical girl herself. Guiding Madoka and Sayaka is the veteran magical girl, Mami Tomoe. Will Madoka make the contract, or not? Find out in "Puella Magi Madoka Magica"!

While it's not out yet, here's the promo art. It's described as being a prequel to the events of the anime, including the first interactions between Kyouko and Mami, and a new magical girl, Oriko. Homura and Madoka will make guest appearances also.

People are already guessing Oriko becomes either Gertrud or Charlotte.

and why no Sayaka D8<

it looks interesting. The art is very...cutesy but I can deal lol. I wonder what they will go into in terms of back story. It will definitely be good to see Mami and Kyoko (and without the risk of them dying)

Interesting but yes, the art is not that great. It looks too cute.

But I didn't expect for a prequel... Great news for Mami & Kyouko fans.

I was just excited for the Mami. That is the only reason for my reading of this when it comes out.

I don't know if Kyouko will be the antagonist, though. From the description, I thought it would be a tag team of Kyouko, Mami, and Oriko, but I'm probably wrong.

I say that Kyoko would be antagonistic because of the fact she worked alone. She never worked with anyone. Plus, I am not sure if this takes place before or after her family died. Either way, she was very aggressive.

However I CAN see Oriko working with Mami. Maybe something happened to Oriko that Mami regrets.
