Base Commandant Misaki sighed, "It can't be helped," she concluded, relaying the final orders to the Seraph's Captain. Even though the ship would not be leaving at full capacity, there was nothing they could do about it, the orders had arrived and the Seraph was already needed. With ZAFT drawing most of its available forces back into space, there just weren't too many options on the table. The Kaohsiung Mass Driver had been buzzing with activity for the better part of the past couple weeks after news of Victoria was confirmed. Despite most of the ZAFT's free Earth forces converging on the location, they were there to use the Mass Driver, not fight a prolonged battle in the region.

The fact that intelligence insisted there was a high probability for the Earth Alliance to attack the facility only complicated things further. Would they be there to make another push and reclaim the territory? Or would it just be an effort to stem the flow of ZAFT forces returning to space? It was hard to tell, they could only be sure that something would happen. The Seraph would be deployed to assist in the defense of the Mass Driver while ZAFT continued regular launches, "Please inform your crew, the Seraph has been authorized to launch immediately for the Kaohsiung Facility," Commandant Misaki offered a parting salute before turning away and departing with aide in tow, "Good luck, Captain,"

"Understood ma'am, I wish you the best of luck as well commander." Rain returned the salute hoping that even as trouble kept coming down on ZAFT's ground elements things would hopefully be lighter as the Alliance made it's mad dash for space.

With the exchange over she ended the video communication and sighed as she went over their situation. They weren't at full crew capacity, but they had their mobile suits, still it was yet to be seen how they'd all work under real battle conditions. "Prepare the Seraph for launch and recall the remaining maintenance crew."

While she left the remaining tasks towards her bridge crew, Rain plucked up phone handset in the armrest of her captain's chair before searching for the pesky broadcast button and rested the handset against her head. "Attention all crew, this is your Captain Rain Meiers; we have received our orders and thus the Seraph and all crew aboard will make best possible speed too the Kaohsiung mass driver. We will be underway shortly."

Setting the phone down the broadcast was stopped as the bridge crew made it's final preparations, power from the base was used to speed things up but soon enough they'd cleared through all the launch procedures and the Seraph soon eased out of Carpentaria with it's crew onboard.

The bridge crew had made final preparations and the ship was slowly inching it's way out of Carpentaria. As the ship moved, a man approaching the bridge suddnely held the side walls as he felt the ship begin to move into launch position. "Ah come guys! Can't a guy get his bearings first" the man said. He had on a pair of sun glasses, black soldier pants and wore a red tank top, with a coat tucked under his arm. Putting a hand through his white hair as he yawned and rubbed his eyes, the man approached the bridge of the Seraph. Cracking his neck he started to put on his jacket as he approached the bridge and a soldier on station saw him.

"Hey who are you? What are you doing on board?" the soldier asked as the man finished putting on his coat. However as he did, he stopped when he saw the red jacket the man wore. "You you your a-a-a!" The man nodded and removed his sun glasses showing some tired wrinkles under his eyes. He then held out a folder with orders to the soldier. "Yes I am a elite, at least that the jacket means. Though I've never been one to push for rank soldier, so don't worry about it. I'm hear to see the Captain of the Seraph, Captain Rain Meiers" The soldier nodded and nervously pushed an intercom button.

"Captain Meiers, there is an Elite red coat here to see you. He has orders to speak with you from High Command" the soldier spoke into the intercom. After recieveing confirmation, the soldier nodded to the red coat and allowed him entry into the bridge. As the doors opened the man nodded in gratitude and entered the bridge of the ship, yawning a bit as he rubbed his eyes and pocketed the sun glasses he had on orignally.

Walking up to the Captain's command chair he felt all eyes on him as the bridge crew looked at the newcomer. However the man cleared his throat and stood at attention as he saluted the Captain professionally dispite his tired apperance. "Captain Meiers, I am Johnathan Ritter newly assinged as Executive Officer of the Seraph by High Command. Forgive my apperance Ma'am I only got the orders this morning and didn't get a full night's sleep. Suffice to say it takes a toll after training new pilots for a 12 straight hours" Johnathan Ritter explained.

Rain glanced towards the so called elite red coat as he entered the bridge, the uniform didn't look stock and while Rain would normally comment on such a thing she passed on that for the moment. Saluting back Rain waited for the man to lower his salute before thinking over her next few comments.

"Welcome aboard Johnathan, maybe people got last minute transfers so do not worry about it for now. I was honestly not expecting command to assign a red as my executive officer but if you accepted the position then it must be fine with you." Considering the amount of said Red Coats onboard, Rain was more expecting a Green or another Black coat to be assigned for the XO role. Ether way anomaly or not Rain and the crew would likely adjust within time. "If you just got on however you might've missed the announcement earlier, the Seraph is on course for Kaohsiung." Turning her chair to face the man so she wouldn't have to turn awkwardly.

Johnathan smiled a bit as he lowered his salute and finished adjusting his coat. Now complete his military lapel displayed the various ribbons and medals he had earned in his time in ZAFT, among them the Order of the Nebula for his prowess at Yggdrasil and Carpentaria. Looking up, he saw a young female bridge hand offer him a cu of black coffee which he accepted with a smile. Taking a sip, he sighed happily and felt rejuvenated as he addressed the Captain again.

"To be honost Ma'am I do have my own suspicions as to why I was selected for this role. I'm afraid it's a little known fact that at the start of the war I was something of a poster boy for the military; though in my opinion I think Athrun Zala's posters look better then my own. I guess thier idea is that an older and experinenced pilot and stratigist would be an inspiration in this time of stalemate what with moral where it is and all" he said as he sipped the coffee in a professional way.

Looking back at the Captain he nodded and smiled saying, "Don't worry Captain Meiers I'm not some pompus, stuck up officer who plays the occasional pilot. I know my duties on this ship and I assure you I will carry them out to the complete fullest. That and I have my own reasons for accepting this position."

Looking up again he nodded as Rain told them thier destination and seemed intrigued by it. "Kahosuing huh? I hear it's lovely this time of year.....plus it would be nice to get out of the deserts around Carpentaria for once. I do like the idea of visiting Asia though" he said with a smirk.

Rain watched Johnathan as he took the time to fit on his awards before waving off the crew from pampering the XO. There'd be a time and place for such things later if he impressed the crew, right now it was the first face to face with the head officers of the ship. The entire self introduction was a bit much, but Rain held back her opinion for now.

"I'm sure Kaohsiung would be a place to go on a normal occasion, but the situation doesn't allow for it as you should know. If we are lucky the Earth Forces should be focusing on space and we'll only be facing the auxiliary forces that may or may not have mobile suits in their entirety." Rain paused as she sat back against her seat seat before turning the chair back forward. "I need you as my executive officer on the bridge if you've agreed to this position I expect the best and I might add..."

Rain stood up from the chair and turned to face Johnathan, adjusting her coat which was empty and nondescript aside from the FAITH badge. "The Supreme Council and the National Defense Committee have different expectations of this ship and it's crew, but they all expect this crew too preform their jobs fully. I hope you will put your star studded history behind you and focus on your position as the Seraph's executive officer, which will keep you on the bridge."

Rain had seen her share of red coat leaders who had gone out constantly in their mobile suits whenever they could instead of their job to lead their pilots. She had heard her fair share of promises from others but she needed to set things straight with Johnathan given he was in her right hand position. "Still I expect great things from you and hope the situation here will work out just fine."

Approaching the Seraph and trailing the warship from behind the pilot removed his helmet as he gave the vessel’s radar operator his IFF confirmation code. It was a familiar ship to him because he participated in the mission to recover it. Theodore was part of an elite special operations unit that was disbanded after the causality count skyrocketed beyond even the staff headquarters’ wildest imaginations; after all they were mostly thrown into battles where they had to operate without heavy support; armed with only ingenuity and creativity to save their hides, the weak were quickly culled and left a small core of pilots that became increasingly skilled at their job.

The DINN Raptor descended and entered through the open hangar gate the ship operator had deployed for him to enter through. It was a hastily refurbished unit; a symbol of his past in the Schwaltzmarken. Getting out of the cockpit he was instructed immediately to the bridge, where he would meet the new Captain of the vessel. According to what he was told, the captain assigned to the Seraph, as they called it was not the same person as the one sent to retrieve the vessel in the first place, which struck him as something odd. Either way, he was eager to meet this new captain, then return back to his bunk where he could get some well deserved rest after flying out from Gibraltar to play catch up.

Even though he had explored the ship during the time he participated in its capture, the vessel’s design still felt off to him, mainly because he was used to ZAFT designs: the Nazca class in particular. Still dressed in his black pilot suit, he was often mistaken for a black coat, even though he was a veteran red at best. The colour choice was obvious; he was previously from the Special Forces, and the military wouldn’t have had the time to reissue his new suit after the recent disbanding of his unit on short notice. “Theodore Edelbach, from the Schwaltzmarken; reporting to duty Captain Meiers.”

His deployment orders had come late, but there was no sense in arguing over details at this point. Jason Stuart cursed under his breath as he sprinted from the closing hangar deck to the CIC, his green uniform neatly pressed, and a black briefcase clenched tightly in his right hand. Checking his stainless steel navigator's watch, he computed the time necessary to reach the bridge, introduce himself to the command staff, and take his position.

Rounding the last corner at a slowing jog, he tugged at his uniform to eliminate any last minute creases, switched the briefcase to his left hand, and slowed his pace to an efficient stride. "Sir!" he saluted in front of Captain Meiers and the Executive Officer, Mr. Ritter. "Officer Jason Stuart, reporting for duty."

Still fresh from Icarus, the black briefcase stayed in his grip. He would not let this information out, not until he could speak directly with the captain, executive officer, and any other combat officers with the necessary clearance.

Jacob Carter wasn’t surprised that his orders came late it was his luck after all but he was surprised to see that Kelly or Radio as she was commonly known as by her friends was also late she was so nitpicky about being early to everything and it bugged her when she was late. “Come on Radio we got to hurry to the bridge and quit looking so worried.” Jacob said as he grabbed the girl’s wrist and pretty much dragged her behind him. “Slow down.” She could hardly keep up with him. They slowed down when they got closer to the bridge. They entered the bridge and joined the man who arrived before them in saluting the captain. “Kelly chambers and Jacob Carter reporting for duty.” Said Jacob saluting. “Sorry where late ma’am our orders arrived late.” Kelly said rather shyly while saluteing.

Dizzy had received his orders not too long ago as he arrived on earth. It was his first time being on earth, living in Maius City Plant all his life before joining Zaft. He got a ride with a mechanic that was heading towards the ship, Seraph. When he got a glimpse of it, he was reminded of the so called legged ship that he had heard about while out in space.

He walked calmly in his uniform with a small slouch, yawning his way to the bridge. He slapped his cheeks, straightening his back before entering the bridge to greet his captain that he would be serving. He entered the bridge noticing how different the bridge was from the Zaft vessel's he has served upon in his time in space at a glance.

"Sir! Dizzy Hill reporting for duty,"Dizzy said with a crisp salute and looking wide awake towards the captain."Sorry for arriving late ma'am. I just arrived planet side a few hours ago before we had set sail, ma'am. Won't happen again, being late that is."

With her little welcoming speech with her XO over, Rain had her attention quickly grabbed by the first newcomer, one Theodore Edelbach, it was rare to get someone from a named unit, but it was a welcome additional none the less. "Welcome aboard Mr. Edelbach, I take it you were held up since you did not arrive earlier."

Another arrival however and the third late person, drew Rain's attention to the rather formal green coat. Saluting back, Rain noted the pristine condition Jason was in and then the suitcase which was an odd sight. So ether he was very careful on how he presented himself, which would be odd given his green coat, or he was fairly new. Ether way there as no reason to judge him negatively. "Welcome aboard Stuart, is there anything I can help you with?" This like the initial conversation with Edelbach was interrupted, this time it seemed the next group first a duo and then one straggler appeared.

Holding back her annoyance Rain saluted the next three before motioning towards the bridge. "Report to your stations then and try to not make this a habit." Shaking her head slightly Rain turned her attention back towards the oddities, Theodore in his pilot suit and Jason with his briefcase. "Now then, is there something you two need?"

--

Down in the CIC pit a lone operator pulled her headset off as the last trio arrived and one Amanda Pierce looked up at her fellow CIC operators. "Psst down here, come on." Having had to deal with a number of things by herself the small teen was very annoyed with having to deal with all the landings and coordination earlier. Not to mention things were positioned very oddly compared to a ZAFT vessel especially this CIC which was isolated from most of the bridge.

Meanwhile another green coat sat at the helmsmen position since the assigned one was late.

“I was assigned by HQ to conduct operational evaluations on a stealth variant of the DINN while on duty with the Seraph, so they decided to hold off my deployment from Gibraltar until they shipped the MS back to Earth.” Theodore replied, he looked around as he saw the other pilots and specialist officers also giving the Captain a greeting of their own. He took out a grey file with a sticker that printed the phase ‘confidential secrets’ on it and handed it to the Captain. It contained the files regarding the specifics on the Raptor’s capabilities; mainly its stealth qualities and other technical information a commanding officer should have access to so as to more efficiently direct its abilities to good use. “This file was to be handed to you personally. It contains the specifications of the prototype, which may come in handy if you require an infiltration unit during the upcoming operation.”

"Sir," Jason started, waiting for the test pilot ahead of him to complete his report. Making an effort not to gesture towards the bag or its top secret contents, Stuart locked his eyes with Captain Meiers."I have been assigned to brief you on the latest developments at Kaohsiung, and stay aboard as your acting Intelligence Officer."

He had the opportunity to pull away for a brief instant, watching the other Greens take their stations before the captain replied. "Also, Sir, if you wish, I can shack up at the comm board, and monitor encrypted transmissions."

Kelly walked over to the comms station, there was someone already there. “I’m taking over.” She said to the stranger who in turn nodded and got up, she then sat down and got adjusted to her station. “Good luck Radio.” Jacob said as he passed her to the helm. “All right pal, break time.” Jacob said, the current helmsmen got up and Jacob sat down. “Helmsmen relieved by Jacob Carter steering course one one zero, engines indicating half ahead ma’am” Jacob said.

Johnathan nodded to his Captain and smirked a bit saying, "Don't worry ma'am I will carry out my duties well and follow all orders. I can also help run simulations for our next generation pilots as High Command would like data on those new Mobile suits we captured. I too admit I am excited about examning those new units" he said with a smile. As the other new crew members came in one by one, Ritter saluted and ackowledged the new crew mates one by one and even smiled at the frustration Capt. Meiers was developing as she had to greet one crew member after the other.

Clearing his throat so as to give the Captain some relif and some breathing room, Johnathan stepped forward and crossed his arms around his back standing like a full and professional officer. "Now that we are all aquainted and known let me say this not just to our new arrivals and but also to our bridge crew. I'm a pragmatic officer who doesn't believe in kicking people when they are down, only kicking your butt if you are in desperate need of it. If you do your job and get us all where we need to be and get us all there alive, we will get along just fine.....and I will glady give my life for you all to see home again. However if you slack off or endanger anyone on ths ship with rash desicions, poor judgement, or hopes of personal glory and heroics; your gonna find my size 11.5 boot between your back pockets, and seeing as how I was a soccor star back home, I can testify it won't be pleasent. Do we understand each other ladies and gentlemen?" he asked.

The bridge crew looked at him and a murmur of "Yes Sir" was heard. Ritter stepped forward and spoke again, this time with more authority and volume in his voice. "I Said Do We Understand Each Other Bridge Crew!" he said like a drill Seargent. "YES SIR JOHNATHAN RITTER SIR!" the bridge crew said in union as Ritter smiled and then stepped back behind his Captain command chair so that she could address the crew and it's new members.
