For the last few years, we have held at least one Brot und Bier a year. These events featured an international scholar who would give a short presentation followed by open conversation. The name Brot und Bier came from the refreshments which were very German, i.e., breads, meats, cheeses, and beer (and non-alcohol beverages). These were great fun.
Unfortunately, my friend on the faculty who always secured the visiting international scholar has departed for Tulsa, OK. This presents an interesting problem: how do we proceed? Your thoughts? |

This is too bad. If we had another scholar from Hungary, maybe we could have hosted a sampling of Hungarian wines. This evening on WVPR, I heard that Hungary is currently ranked 11th among wine exporting countries. The industry of exporting quality wines from Hungary grew up from nothing since the fall of the Soviet Union. The WVU Civil Engineering Department recently hired a faculty member from Belgium, but I doubt that anything he could talk about would be of interest to the normal Brot und Bier attendees. :ph43r: |

At the last Brot und Bier, a desire for monthly programming was expressed. Thoughts?

I can't imagine that Brot&Bier could be sustained on a monthly basis. You would have to resort to inviting even pastors like me to come and do a presentation.

Currently talking with Elliot Kennel about the idea of him being presenter at a future Brot und Bier. Elliot would likely speak on the relationship of Ethiopic Enoch to the Gospels and Judeo-Christian Apocalyptic scriptures.
I'll be in Gettysburg this coming week. Is there anything people would like me to recruit from the seminary? |
