Hello everyone!

Found this site after attending DragonCon where of course I got to meet Luciana.
It is my goal to collect as many actor's autographs form sci fi shows that I like.
DragonCon is a good event to do that, especially if you like BSG.

Anyway, "Kat" was on the list, but then I was really surprised that this actress was warm and actually talked to me like I was a person and we even had an actual conversation. I was like who is this lady? Is she new and not know any better?

Needless to say Luciana was the hit of the show for me. Now however, I realize that doing these events is not new for her which makes her all the more impressive. It is great that there are sites like this where fans can gather. It is also cool that she reads some of the boards. Glad I found this place.

To Luciana: May your star rise as far and high as your dreams. Nice to meet you.

Hello and welcome to the Luciana Carro Fanboard, Eurcides! friends3.gif

I'm very happy to hear you enjoyed meeting Luciana, and I'm also happy Luciana still is such a genuine person despite the relatively long time in the business. I met her for the first time about two years ago, and back then the convention scene still was very new to her. She really is very nice and approachable. smile.gif

Hey Eurcides!

Thanks for signing up, and welcome to our community! hello.gif (You may introduce yourself here, if you like.)

"Luciana was the hit of the show for me": Wow... given the abundance of attractions and excitement at Dragon*Con, that's quite a statement! I can imagine how much you enjoyed meeting her. And like Frosty, I'm happy to hear she's still treating the fans so exceptionally well. wub.gif

Well, now that you're here, I hope you'll stick around and check out some of her other movies and episodes... and don't hesitate to add to any other discussion.

Hi everybody!!! Well I made it to D*C again this year and had a GREAT time, especially due to getting to meet Lucci (at long last last) in person. biggrin.gif I actually made something for her in advance of coming there, and while waiting to get checked in Thursday evening, I *thought* I recognized somebody that had just gotten there with a small group...I kept looking and sure enough, it was her. I'd been wanting to meet her for...like, ever since I first saw her on BSG, but I instantly also noticed just how small she is in RL, and also being a guest that was just getting there, I seriously didn't want to freak her out by thinking she was getting mobbed before the Con even started ( laugh.gif) So I very, very carefully went over and remarked "I know you from T.V., right?" rolleyes.gif, and she politely said yes, so I told her I'd made something for her. She smiled and came over to where I had my bags, and I pulled out the painting I'd made for her carefully keeping it turned around and gave it to her. She took it, took one look at it, gasped outloud and almost followed her jaw to the floor, then looked back at me and looked for a second like she might tear up and told me "thank you" for it and gave me a hug. Apparently she loved it. Heehee... yahoo.gif

I asked her for a picture and she happily agreed...

(In detail, she's in the center, flanked by scenes from her Raptor in The Passage, her Viper taking out Scar in Scar, and a beauty shot of her MKII Viper against a nebula...and the brilliant light behind her represents her transcending her physical existence into Elysium where all the Humans in BSG go...wink.gif)

She told me she had some photos to give to me, and later on let me pick out two, one of Kat by her Viper and one promo shot of herself in RL, and I told her she could use the art I gave her for promo art however she wanted to.

She was an absolutely LOVERLY person, and while I didn't exactly get to hang out with her through the Con, I did cross paths with her several times, and went to most of the BSG cons and the fleet party, so I've got a few stories I'll have to remember to post here pretty soon. smile.gif

(Since I know you'll ask, no, unfortunately I don't have a good picture of the art by itself since I only finished it literally the night before I drove to Atlanta, but like I said, I told her she can use it however she wants, so I guess you can just keep asking her if she's got a good scan of it yet...wink.gif)[I]

Awesome story SamStarEagle! And awesome artwork! I am sure you made her whole weekend! What a wonderful piece of art, and its such a personal gift. I think its safe to say Lucci will always cherish it.

I can imagine how you felt about walking right up to her as she entered the building. laugh.gif
I was never sure when I should or shouldn't recognize a celebrity guest in the hallways and such. unsure.gif

Wow, Sam, I'm quite speechless. This picture is just incredible! Really wonderful. wub.gif You are very gifted. I'm absolutely certain Luciana loves it a lot!

And it's great you finally were able to meet her, you deserved it and I'm so happy for you!
I can fully understand how you felt when you saw Lucci, I remember my own nervousness when meeting her for the first time. And her small size was also one of the first things I noticed. wink.gif

Thank you for sharing this great story and the photo. smile.gif

The website CineGeek posted a report from Dragon*Con. It doesn't contain any new info, but anyway, here is the part about Lucci:

QUOTE (CineGeek)
The big announcement came from Luciana Carro who played “Kat” on BSG. You may remember her as the pilot that constantly challenged “Starbuck” and ended up getting addicted to Stims (a BSG drug) before her character was dramatically killed off. During the panel, she announced that she in fact will be in the upcoming BSG prequel Caprica. The only detail about her role that she was willing to share is that she is definitely not playing “Kat” or “Kat’s” grandmother. Her character in Caprica is completely unrelated to the one she played on Battlestar Galactica. This announcement is surprising since producer Ron Moore seems to really be trying to build continuity between BSG and Caprica. Bringing in a familiar face from BSG to play a different character on Caprica could easily muddy the waters a bit.

It's interesting how Luciana's casting in Caprica, which was announced a month ago, was a big surprise to them now. laugh.gif
Also, "Stims" isn't a BSG drug, stims is just short for stimulants. rolleyes.gif

While I understand their concern about bringing in an actress from BSG to play a different character in the same universe, I don't really have a problem with it as long as it doesn't become a habit. And Luciana has proven to be very versatile, so I don't see any problem in her case, in fact many casual viewers may not even recognize her as the actress who played Kat - she can be very different.

Hey Sam!

Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing your great story. I'm so glad you finally got to meet her, after all those years. It really was about time.

And you certainly know how to make such a moment extra special, for both of you! That painting is simply amazing. I had no idea you were so talented. Needless to say, it made for a fantastic present! I can imagine how surprised, touched and grateful she must have been. I wasn't there, but you probably made her day.

Btw, did you tell you were the one who wrote this incredibly touching letter in the aftermath of "The Passage"? As you may know, Luciana even mentioned it in an interview.

Well, the news was neither officially announced nor reported by any major outlet, so I don't find that surprising a lot of people did not or still don't know about Luciana's latest gig.

It was a weird article. First, it correctly reports that Luciana won't play Kat's ancestor - yet just a few words later, it accuses the producers of "muddying the waters" in terms of continuity. Silly.

And I didn't expect the majority of people to know about it, but it shows this website didn't do any research regarding recent Caprica news before writing this BSG/Caprica article. But well, they don't seem to be very professional anyway. wink.gif
