STOP THE PRESSES!! NEW MOVIE!! PHANTOM RACER!!

This is probably the biggest news in the last few months. Luciana has a role in a new made for TV movie called "Phantom Racer". She will play a character called "Deputy Monroe". Other than that, there is not much info available right now, so we don't know how big her role will be, what the movie is about or when it will air.
But given the fact that Luciana is in it, it's certainly something for us to look forward to! yahoo.gif yahoo.gif

I wish Luciana a lot of fun working on that movie! thumbsup.gif friends3.gif

Found it by accident. As some of you know, I'm working on cutting clips of her work, and since I'm doing it chronologically (with a few exceptions) I looked at the IMDb a few hours ago to decide what to do next. There was nothing new. Then, a bit later, still being undecided, I returned to the IMDb and there it was! You can imagine my surprise!
The funny thing is, I use a Firefox extension which checks websites automatically for updates, and it checks Luciana's IMDb entry every four hours! I sometimes don't go to her site for weeks, because this little software will alert me. It was a very big coincidence to find this info before it's next check for updates!

Yes. My guess is this will be a "movie of the week". The SciFi MOWs aren't always very good, to put it politely. wink.gif But I won't judge this movie before I have more facts, and I'm sooo looking forward to seeing it!
And "Deputy Monroe" sounds cool. So she will play a policewomen? I like her in uniform! wink.gif

@Micheal: I fully agree and hope she has lots of fun!

Here's some more info:

This production company also produced the following titles:

# "Painkiller Jane" (2007) ... Production Company
# "Young Blades" (2005) ... Production Company
# Zolar (2004) (TV) ... Production Company

Lucci has somewhat of a relationship with this company. The last title? Well not Lucci related but I thought worth mentioning. rofl2.gif

Yes, she almost got the lead role in "Painkiller Jane" and had a guest appearance in "Young Blades".
While I haven't seen "Zolar", my brain connects it with Nicki Clyne. wink.gif

My guess is it will be an action movie without a very sophisticated plot. But with Lucci!

Oh, and just now my update scanner finally told me about Lucci's IMDb entry! laugh.gif

Trivia:

Actor Winston Rekert credited on Phantom Racer had two guest appearances on BSG. While I am sure Winston never acted along side Lucci on the set its fun trivia to know all the same.

- Collaborators (2006) TV episode .... Priest
- Lay Down Your Burdens: Part 2 (2006) TV episode .... Priest

Awesome, that's wonderful news.I'm so happy for her.Let's just hope it's a good movie.I can't wait to hear what the plot of the movie is.The title sounds interesting.

I've seen the Painkiller Jane movie,it wasn't too shabby if I remember correctly but then again I might be a little biased since I'm a fan of Emmanuelle Vaugier who played Painkiller Jane.

I fully agree, Gnisten. Let's hope it's a good movie. The SciFi movies of the week don't have a very good track record, though.
But it still is a job for Luciana, and I'm looking forward to seeing her play a new character again, no matter how big her role is and where the character's place in the story is. smile.gif

Hopefully my cable company will have Sci Fi in HD early next year, which would be cool. Then I could watch this new MOW, (assuming it comes out early next year) and the last 10 episodes of BSG in HD.

Luciana in HD is definitely cool. I will probably be limited to a 700MB, or if I'm very lucky to a 1400MB video file of the movie. rolleyes.gif
But luckily I already have lots of BSG episodes in the reduced HD 720p format (but on my monitor I couldn't do much with full HD anyway, it would need to be downscaled), as well as "Blades of Glory".

As always, Pedda is late for the party, but this kind of news doesn't leave him cold, of course. To the contrary:

What a profound relief to know that our Lucci got a new project! The lack of news had all of us a little worried. Finally she's allowed to do what she does so well, again - honing her skills and experiencing a new "person" in the process, and entertaining a broad audience in the end. smile.gif

So "Phantom Racer" it is. According to Sci Fi's press release back in July, the movie's premise is as follows: "Greg Evigan ('B.J. & the Bear') hits the road again in this flick about a racecar driver from beyond the grave."

Hmm, I'm not sure what to make of this. I have never heard of Greg Evigan or "B.J. and the Bear" - a show about a trucker and a chimp. ^^ Well, PR's premise could mean anything. If I had to describe BSG in ten words (human-looking killer robots nuke Earth and procreate with survivors), that wouldn't sound very attractive, either.

On the other hand, as Frosty indicated, Sci Fi's original movies don't have the best reputation, as they range from a few excellent entries (BSG Mini), to ambitious stuff ("Tin Man"), to mediocre movies ("Nemo"), to a vast number of ludicrous monster flicks (like, prehistoric sharks attack Malibu), to movies of the so-trashy-it's-cult category. Well, let's hope for the best.

According to this document released by UBCP (a regional trade union), shooting started October 28 and is scheduled to wrap this Friday. Hence, if we're really, really lucky, we could read something new about this project pretty soon.

Anyway, I sincerely hope Luciana thoroughly enjoys her gig. Also, I wonder if this marks more than just a temporary return to Vancouver. I'm told a couple genre shows are going to be produced up there next year. wink.gif

Winston Rekert: Next to Luciana's, his name was actually the only one among PR's cast and crew that I knew. I remember his swearing-in scenes in BSG quite well, so I look forward to watch him in a different role.

laugh.gif As soon as I read "Deputy..." I said to myself: "Hmm, I know a Lucci-in-uniform aficionado who's gonna be really happy now". biggrin.gif Then again, who am I to say no to a fetching Italian-Canadian playing a tough-chick Deputy Sherriff in a genre setting (hint)? wink.gif

FYI: Although I'm late to post here, I did add a Phantom Racer page to the Fansite as soon as early Tuesday morning. tongue.gif

Btw: As for me offering to trade in my upcoming Christmas and birthday presents... that was just a limited December deal-with-the-devil special, of course. Maybe next year. wink.gif

How do I describe this? Its something I can't- I never watched it. I knew about it. It was a huge hit in the US in the 70's. It was one of those, "rednecks are cool" themes, that was popular for a short time back then. (ala Starsky and Hutch) So the actor or his previous works add nothing to the premise for me.

Don't forget I absolutely love Diana from "Murder at the Presidio"! I guess I got a thing for Lucci in uniform and cap. naughty.gif

Of course she could just as easily be dressed in casual wear and an over coat. We will have to wait and see.

We do not know if Lucci has a small walk-on role or a more lengthy character gig. Regardless of the type of movie it is, it will be Lucci's performance I look forward to. I enjoy watching her perform her craft. thumbsup.gif

You know, the first time I read the title "Phantom Racer", I had to think about "Ghost Rider". Judging from the trailer back then in the cinemas and the scenes I saw when a guy watched it on his laptop on a train, that movie was about an undead motorbike driver on a revenge trip. Maybe the SciFi people decided to do something similar with a racecar? And maybe it's not connected at all.

Me neither. unsure.gif I looked at all the other listed actor's IMDb pages, and there was no one who's name rings any bells.

Good work finding this! It's interesting, but I don't think there will be any news until the movie is well into post production.
Anyway, it's an interesting thought that right now, while we are sitting comfortably in front of our computers, Lucci might be somewhere on a film set where she faces terrible danger, fight for her life... or sit around bored and drink a cup of tea while waiting for her scenes to be shot. tongue.gif

Since I'm a science fiction fan, I would selfishly like her to do that again. And, also selfishly, if would get a role in a successful genre show, it would vastly improve the chances of seeing her at a con again. smile.gif

Yep, me too! When I read "Deputy Monroe", my first thought was how I loved her as Corporal Phillips! Then the mental image of her in "Murder at the Presidio" in a military uniform changed to her in a police uniform, and I decided that's not bad at all. biggrin.gif

I found the production company responsible for this film. While there is nothing on the web site about Phantom Racer, they appear to have synopses and trailers for many of their past productions. So its a place worth checking on from time to time in the weeks and months ahead. If were lucky will get a trailer before it officially airs on tv.

Yes. They have trailers for a lot of their stuff that's listed on their IMDb page, including these bad movies with Leah Cairns ("Thralls", "Deep Evil").
They even have a Trailer for "Zolar" with Nicki Clyne! I have never seen any scenes of her in that role before. biggrin.gif
