Luciana cast in Caprica, At least five episodes (2010)

Yes, and she was very funny doing it, I loved it! But since Caprica isn't a comedy, I'm hoping for something else.

Anyway, a few hours ago Lucci posted the following on her Facebook:

So this should put people's worries about her playing Kat's grandmother to rest.

Hadn't been by in a while but I was sure glad to get caught up to this news. I thought it awesome she had a recurring role to begin with but I'm also happy she won't be wedged in there as a "shoutout character" related to Kat.

Welcome back Manip! Yes, Lucci needs a lot more screen time on camera. We are all thrilled she got this new gig.

Like you, most fans, including us on this board, are relieved her character in Caprica won't be related to Kat.
I would have watched Caprica anyway, but with the announcement of Lucci joining the cast, it is now right on top of my "need to watch" list.

Hey Manip, what a nice suprise to see you again! I hope you (and other old friends) will be around when Lucci's eps air in February. Would be great if we enjoyed and discussed them together.

Luciana's new character not being related Kat: Aww man, I so would have loved to see "Really dope - Drug running with Sasha". Seriously, I think we're all very happy Lucci gets to portray an entirely new character.

She says her role is "really dope", which suggests she doesn't play a bumbling sweetheart or something like that. So while her character will have at least some attitude, I am confident they didn't cast her in a role that feels just like Kat. I mean, we all know Luciana is so versatile in terms of looks, style and emotion, so they better take advantage of it.

In fact, there are so many exciting possibilities! She could end up being a witty love interest for Barnabus, or a delusional mid-morning snack for Duram, or an immoral polytheist who is a threat to the security of Graystone Industries, or a mysterious friend to Joe's mother. And just as Kat wasn't an infallible pilot, Luciana's Caprica character will hopefully have several facets. Last but not least, it would be great if they anchored her in more than one setting or relationship.

In other words, I'd like to see her in a role like the one in Everwood. I enjoyed Stephanie Meyer so much because the tone and setting of Stephanie's scenes, as well as the characters involved, often changed from one scene to another - instead of hvaing very similar set ups over and over again.

Well, I can't wait to find out more, and to see what she does with the material

Yes, I fully agree with you. So first of all, I hope she'll be different from Kat, and I hope we'll see different sides of her in the course of the series.

Mid-morning snack? No, that wouldn't be what I'm hoping for. The other things would be nice, though. It would be great if she played someone who is kind of tough, but still nice. Not just a sweetheart (Lucci is one in real life, and it's more interesting if she plays someone who is different from her), but not just the tough chick either.
Whatever she'll play, I hope they'll make good use of her, and not just make her a background character for the five episodes (which will hopefully become more than five).

As some of you may have read on the blog, the writer of the fantastic Dragon*Con panel recaps, Script PhD, said the final update to her post will contain some new info on Luciana's character.

Just to avoid any confusion: I didn't mean that in a sexual way. We've already seen Luciana in two recurring roles that focused on her character's sexuality, so her upcoming recurring role should be about something else, I think.

Ah, okay, thanks for the clarification. That's good, I fully agree with you, we already had The Chris Isaak Show and The L-Word, so I too want to see something different.

Loved Lucianas hair at DragonCon. She told me that it was done for her character in Caprica...although she also said it was a work in progress.

Meanwhile, Luciana dropped another tiny hint...

At one of the Battlestar Q&As, Mary McDonnell remarked that Luciana gets to wear pretty shoes on Caprica – four-inch high heels, as Luciana happily confirmed.

When she talked to The Sci Fi Guys, Luciana briefly touched upon Caprica. She was “flattered to be asked back” and enjoys working with the great material provided by that show. She shot three episodes already. Last but not least, Luciana mentioned that the high heels make her “look like a girl”.

It's so good to hear she enjoys working on this show. I'm looking forward to the "Lucci in heels" show. So, two more episodes to film. Hopefully the writers will bring her back later and not just forget about her character or even kill her at the end of her arc.

I hope they don't kill off the character either, but even if they do, what we will get is quite a gift and worth shouting about.

So four inch high heels will make Lucci officially 5.5 feet tall!
