Title: Tut for using ImageReady to make animated Gif's
Description: Adobe ImageReady (Photoshop's sister)

Import your vid from the "File" dropdown.
I opened an AVI (Divx) trailer for the TV series BattleStar Galactica.

I mark what part I want ImageReady to import as frames:

Then ImageReady accepts my request and gives me my Avi's frames:

Now you can edit, resize, and export this into an animated gif.

Any questions, let me know.
ImageReady generally accepts .mov's.
Most of you will notice that avi's imported make imageready go screwy.
I found a loophole that allows Avi's to get imported into ImageReady.
If anyone's interested in this, post and I'll clue you in.

Thanks! :)
I didn't know that ImageReady can work with mov files.

This is great, considering I've never even cracked open imageready. you may have given me impetus to do so. Thanks!

Haha! It's so stupid. Adobe could just give photoshop this ability, but they don't.
Try importing a vid into photoshop and it gives you an error message.

But here's a tip:

Import your frames using imageready...
Then, if you'd rather edit your animation in photoshop..

Click this button:

This will transfer your project from imageready to photoshop.
Now you can edit, colour, and filter your project as you wish.

If you're worried about the animation, don't worry.
Photoshop also has the frame-by-frame animation tool.
By default, it's hidden. To activate, click Windows>Animation:

You'll see it appear (thumbnail - click to see full image):

Ashoka you rock. I prefer AnimationShop instead of using ImageReady, because ImageReady looks a little bit difficult and complicated to me compared to the other program, but know I see that it has some hidden things I never knew of.

Its never a stupid question if ya want to learn.

Image Ready is part of the Photoshop suite. It's considered the leading graphics software program so it's anything but cheap. Around $700 dollars give or take a few hundred and depending on what version one purchases.

What version is? My version is CS2, and not have this feature for import videos to make GIF's(or I'm not capable to find it).
