I made this video a while ago, I hope you like it. The music is by Michelle Branch, the clips are from the episode Scar. Check it out, hope that the link works:
on youtube

I like it.

Looooove Michelle Branch

How do you download Youtube-Vids?

Pedda - August 11, 2006 09:44 AM (GMT)
Me likes it, too! :dancingbunny:

The scenes are well-arranged and the lyrics are quite fitting.

But then again, how could I not love a music video featuring close-ups of my favorite character, scenes from one of my favourite episode and a song from one of my favourite singers. ;)

I know, the vid is called "Scar". However, a couple of scenes from other Kat eps may have made it even better, IMHO.

I know but I was just too lazy to do that! It takes a lot of time to make vids with windows movie maker.
Thanks for all your comments. You made me happy.

A little offtopic question: Google has abandoned googlevideo in favour of youtube?

Sardaukar - February 17, 2007 12:52 AM (GMT)
Excellent! And your other Kat video same!!!

Solium - February 17, 2007 11:41 AM (GMT)
Excellent collection of vids! Scar remains my fav, everything about that episode, including script, acting, SFX, worked for me. I never grow tired of watching scenes from that episode.

Well found Lucci's Jeans vid on Google Video, however other links redirect from Google Video to YouTube....

Pedda - March 10, 2007 11:38 AM (GMT)
Well, Google bought YouTube, didn't it?

Aynway, here is another music video, a calm, respectful and well-cut tribute to both the female pilots who passed away this season. The song is "The Greatest" from Cat Power.

FrostyJG - March 16, 2007 07:12 PM (GMT)
Some really nice videos, thanks for the links!

Pedda - June 3, 2007 12:31 AM (GMT)
As Solium said in the myspace thread, Lucci's profile is crammed with YouTube clips, among them many BSG fan videos/music videos.

Of the vids Sardaukar and I linked to, "The Red", "Scar", "Kat" and "The Greatest" show up on her page. "The Red" is a cool rock song. Although "Kat" features both great visuals and and a fine tune (a track from the "Serenity" OST), they don't really fit together, IMHO.

I praised "The Greatest" above already (almost as good as "Farewell to a pilot"). Luciana, however, liked it (well, the re-edit at least) so much that she posted a comment about it on YouTube. (We know it's her because it just sounds like Lucci, and she used the same alias on Slide.com.) What a nice gesture. The cutter must be glowing. :)

Last but not least, Lucci somehow unearthed a video featuring Stephanie, her character on the last four episodes of "Everwood". "Amy and Ephram" is a sweet, romantic video about the eponymous couple, with some Lucci scenes scattered in between. Check it out, guys!

Solium - June 3, 2007 09:28 PM (GMT)
"Farewell to a pilot" made me nauseous. Kat looked so god awful sick. Like the walking dead. I cannot stomach that episode. I have never watched it a second time. I just cannot get myself to watch that episode ever again.

How dare you ignore what Lucci described as the best Kat script?

Well, I know what you mean, of course. It is so touching to see her deteriotate slowly over the course of 40 minutes, with the last scenes literally screaming for unconditional pity. :( :( Still, the power of the whole performance is overwhelming, and fascinating at the same time - I cannot look the other way.

On top of that, "Farewell" features fine music (...if only I knew who composed it).

BTW: Frosty just noticed a mistake in my post above. Lucci didn't comment on the original edit of "The Greatest", but on the re-edit. I apologize for any confusion.

BTW2: If you use Firefox, you may be interested in the Video Downloader extension. It allows you to grab videos from myspace, YouTube, GoogleVideo and similar sites. You can save them in the .flv format and play them with free media players such as Media Player Classic.

Next to having all the fan vids available on HDD, there's another advantage: You can watch them in the original 16:9 aspect ratio. (Ever wondered why faces look so weird on YouTube?)

I respectively disagree. I thought it was a " make it up as you go script" that had no merits regarding how Kat was introduced into the series and developed.

No fault of Lucci, she did an AWESOME job with the material- hence its to painful to watch. :(

While I really like the Serenity Soundtrack, I agree it doesnít really fit that well to this video. But since this video contains many different scenes which differ in mood and the feelings connected to the scenes, I canít really think of a tune that would fit to all of them.

Yes, seeing Kat like this is depressing. It makes me always so sad. But the Story itself was not bad; it showed how harrowing the fight for survival is. The Colonials have been in a really terrible situation ever since they had to leave the colonies. BSG is a show that tries to make the audience, who sits comfortably in front of the TV, feel some of that peril. To achieve that it has to get personal. Killing of some extras hasnít really that big an effect, but seeing a character you watched week after week suffer and die really hurts. Yes, I wanted Kat to stay for the rest of the series, she is my favourite character of the whole show and I hated to see her go. But I would have hated it even more if she was just blown up. No other character on the show got such a heartbreaking farewell; Kat got an entire episode for her send-off.

And you are certainly entitled to that, of course. Lucci is not The Word. Maybe I should have added a " ;) " to make my intentions clear. After all, I myself have always regarded "Scar" as Kat's very best script, due to the wonderful interaction between Katee and Luciana, and also due to the wide range of Kat's emotions (and Lucci's priceless facial expressions, for that matter  - see avatar).

True, Espenson's "Passage" script had a rather lame deus-ex-machina element (especially when compared to the mostly top-notch writing on BSG), but...

...Frosty made some good points here. In the respective threads, we discussed extensively how Kat was not just sacrificed on the altar of realism or "sense of peril". Espenson and the writers went some honorable lengths to give the whole tragedy a meaning, and to give the fans at least some time to say good bye.

Yes, Lucci really can express all the different emotions very well (thatís the main reason I like fanvids that feature scenes from ďScarĒ). And I liked the Kat/Starbuck rivalry in ďScarĒ much better than the way Starbuck treated Kat in ďThe PassageĒ. While ďThe PassageĒ is a very moving and touching story, I can watch ďScarĒ without getting depressed.

I guess I should be more grateful that the writers gave Luciana an in-depth send off. Point well taken.

I never grow tired of watching "Scar" for all the reasons stated above. Luciana's range of acting is so amazing in that episode. I also loved the interaction between Luciana and Katee.

Well, turns out, initially, she didn't (that is, initially hollywoodgrrl wasn't glowing, at all). In fact, the creator was very sceptical and discussed the authenticity with some of her web buddies on her blog. They ended up poking fun at the spelling mistakes of what they believed to be a lame impostor!

Just two days after I wrote the above-quoted post (no connection, of course), this led to a hilarious exchange between Lucci, who stumbled over this during an ego-surfing session, and hollywoodgrrl. Luckily for everyone involved, she didn't take it personal. ;) Ah well, I'd rather see her winning an Emmy than the Golden Spelling Bee, anyway. :D

Edit (Oct 29): Hmm, maybe I shouldn't have written that post. I hope she didn't feel offended, but I could perfectly understand if she was. :( You know, we want to share and dissect everything related to Lucci, yet there should be boundaries of decency and stuff. Anyway, I still think she's got the better deal. I mean, I got a dozen of spelling bees back in the day - but will I ever have a shot at any acting award? Hell no.

FrostyJG - August 23, 2007 11:14 PM (GMT)
Oh dear! Well, I can understand hollywoodgrrl might be sceptical whether misschecks is authentic, since it doesnít happen often an actress communicates with fans in such a direct way.

I just read the blog in question and the exchange on Youtube. One of Lucciís comments there:
QUOTE
I had a little 2 much time on my hands last night and decided 2 ego surf. I came across your lovely discussion about my atroshis spelling. It's all good, I aint mad. I just wept for 12 hours but I'll be ok lol. You see my lack of spelling ability has given me more space in my brain to memorize 20 pages of dialogue overnight. Even though my little ego has been crushed I love your work so much

Hopefully she wasnít serious about her crushed ego. I donít really care about her spelling (though I noticed it a long time ago in the Dorinha interview), she has a lot of other qualities. Nobody is perfect, and she is just human like everyone else. And I wouldnít have it any other way.
She wants the creator of the fanvid to make her official demo reel, how cool is that?
One interesting note: Lucci used the term ďego surfingĒ, something I first heard Leah Cairns say.

Solium - August 24, 2007 01:05 AM (GMT)
I cant spell either.... :( Guess I am in good company! :yahoo:

FrostyJG - August 24, 2007 11:57 AM (GMT)
When I write something on my computer I make more typos the faster I write, despite of knowing the correct spelling of the word. So, when I write longer textís I usually write them in Word with the spell checker on and then copy and paste them. This is especially the case when I write something in English, which isnít my first language. (I guess I make more grammar mistakes than spelling mistakes when I write in English.)
But I also make quite some typos in German when I write fast, for example in an IRC chat with a few other Galactica fans (including Pedda) yesterday. Thatís something that doesnít usually happen to me when writing the old fashioned way on a piece of paper.

In the end, itís important to understand what the person means; as long as thatís the case I donít mind the spelling.
And Iíve seen people on the Internet whose spelling is so bad you really have a hard time figuring out what the person in question actually intended to say. (Pedda knows who Iím referring to.)
I always understand the meaning of what Lucci writes, so I donít have a problem with it. She has a lot of more important qualities. :)

P.S.: Maybe one should add a sig to the messages, like: "Whoever finds spelling mistakes can keep them." :D

Solium - August 24, 2007 12:08 PM (GMT)
I try to use spell check at often as possible. But sometimes I am in a rush or just to lazy.

Multiply that by a thousand when a celebrity is trying to communicate daily with agents, business contacts, promotions, friends, family, fans, I think we can give her a break. ;)

I think unless someone gets as many emails a day as someone like Lucci must, ppl have no idea how much time (hours and hours) it takes to read much less reply to them.

The YouTube quality doesnít do Luciana any justice, this one is much better. With all these emotional scenes I feel kind of exhausted after watching this video.

Three new videos :yahoo:

It's Over Tonight by DeeKatThumb8

Featuring Jem's fetching song "24". This Kat fanvid is special, I think, in that it includes many "Scattered" scenes.

Kara and Kat: Full of Grace by mfirefly10

Scar-centric. You just can't get enough of Thompson and Weddle's wonderful scenes.

Read Less, More BSG [10.3]: Who We Are (The Passage) by cyborganize

This is not a fanvid, but one installment in a whole video blog series on BSG. Focusing on "The Passage" and the lamentable lack of gay characters in the show, this video is an entertaining, hilarious blend of great narration, funny scribble and bizarre decoration. Check it out, guys!

Btw, Luciana once discovered this, too, and when someone asked about her lesbian fan base during the Utopia panel, she answered: "But I saw something on Youtube. Iím a big Youtube fan, I could spend hours there. And I saw this video with Kat and Starbuck as lesbians. I thought it was hilarious, so funny." I think Lucci also said she especially loved the drawing of Kat and Starbuck kissing. :D

Yeah, there are many Passage scenes. Still, the video also features two or three from Scattered, which is not too common, I think.

Ah, gotcha.

thx for the videos, but the last one is very funny...

FrostyJG - November 28, 2007 07:29 PM (GMT)
While the music of "It's Over Tonight" isn't entirely my taste, I like the fact that not just scenes of "The Passage" and "Scar" are used, but also from a lot of other episodes like "Final Cut", "Scattered", "Exodus" and "Valley of Darkness".

"Kara and Kat: Full of Grace" is also good, I like the music actually a bit better, but it would have also fitted to scenes from "The Passage".

The last video is quite funny.

Did the person who asked that question watch this video? Because I can't think of a reasonable explanation why someone would consider Kat an idol for lesbians. Kat would have been an excellent character for this kind of relationship, and Lucci had already played lesbian women on "The L-Word" and "Passageway".

I can only assume she got some good feedback on some "The L Word" fan boards where this would be known? Some body read it and passed it on? I certainly never heard of Lucci having a lesbian fan base. But they have good taste in women if they do!

BSG - general - So this is Christmas

Back in December, Marcel found this Christmas-themed BSG video. Given that many videos focus on the gloom-and-doom aspect of the show, it's nice to see some uplifting stuff like this, for a change. (Not that I'm not looking forward to more darkness and depression in season four. :D)

Luciana's "towel scene" as well as her jumping-up-and-down towards the end of "Act of Contrition" are featured.

Pedda - January 29, 2008 10:34 PM (GMT)
Frak Off!

This is a funny collection of all the instances of "frak" during BSG's first season. Hear and see Kat use the word "frak" towards the end of the video (in scenes taken from "Hand of God").

Edit: Sigh, this flv is nasty, can't save it on my hdd. :(

Solium - January 29, 2008 11:31 PM (GMT)
Sweet, once I get a chance to watch it I will make my comments. Thanks Pedda. ;)
