Title: "The Lost Episode..."
Description: Kat fanfic idea

Alright...

We all feel terrible about Kat' sacrifice in The Passage, and of course are left wanting more.

So here goes...

We know that she was one of the few to stay with the Admiral and his virtually mothballed fleet. When we finally see her as CAG of Galactica, she had obviously grown as a person and a leader.

Same thing with the other oft-overlooked characters of Racetrack, and Kat's buddy Hotdog. They went through hell too, but their story was almost untold, with the exception of the great "line of salt" scene, and Adama's "Finding Immortality" speech, that showed us some hard shots of what all the former "other pilots" were thinking.

I would have liked a whole episode!!!

So, because that obviously didn't happen, I decided that I'd try and make that "lost episode" about what the "other guys", the guys who had never shirked their responsibility had gone through. While it revolves mainly around Kat (AND WHY WOULDN'T IT?! ), it also will gives an opportunity to see growth in the other background characters. (When you watched the "line of salt" scene, you really got the feeling that those guys had become Galactica's new family.)

I'll be working on it till it's up to the level that Luciana and the other actors might actually enjoy :coffee: (I can only hope!!!), so bear with me... might be a bit of a wait. (I've got down the plot by now of course!) Any suggestions or obscure stuff that you guys might have noticed in the New Cap episodes that could help in honoring "the few", and especially our girl Kat, would be ABSOLUTELY appreciated!!!

Soon as I'm done, I'll put it up here for you guys to read!!!

bye for now...

back to work...

SamStarEagle this is a brilliant idea and I wish you luck!

I suppose (unless Kat is a Cylon) we will have to rely on fanfics and maybe even a lost episode or two from the series itself. Now wouldn’t that be cool?! :dancingbunny: :naughty:

Given how few the fan fics are that focus on or at least feature Kat, let alone in a serious way, I look forward to you fleshing out what happened to our favourite pilot during the first year after the discovery of New Caprica.

The first S3 eps hinted as well as "The Passage" hinted at the development of an interesting professional relationship between Kat and Adama. Also, her rise to the position of CAG and her maturing could and should be chronicled. There is not really place for something romantic - at least, this is what I infer from how she reacted to Enzo.

However, I'd like to see Kat in a more casual environment, having fun with her buddies. This would be a good opportunity to expand the virtually non-existent background of both Hotdog and Racetrack. Maybe it's gonna be a great pilot-centric adventure like those written by Thompson and Weddle.

Anyway, what's important for me is that Kat won't turn into a Mary Sue or a character whom everyone likes and admires.

Well, the idea for this episode is about how they all managed to hold together when the fleet was cut-off for four months. When it starts there hasn't even been a sign that anyone is alive on New Cap for months, and everybody knows that they can't hold together much longer. While Adama tries to come up with a plan for if and when they recieve word from the planet, Kat is starting to really feel the weight of her responsibility to her pilots, and to the man that has come to place so much confidence in her, Admiral Adama.

It's kind of like Flight of the Phoenix, 33, or Scar. So in a word... dark.

I'm making sure to keep them all true to character, and that means all their fears and doubts too.

If you're worried about it being dark just to be dark, don't worry! I just got done writting a scene with Kat and her buddy Hotdog that's an opportunity for them to have a fun scene.

And don't worry... this ain't a romance novel!!!

Thanks for the responces and ideas!!!

Maybe when I FINALLY get done with this one, I'll try some other eppy ideas.

This is really alot of fun!!!

Keep those ideas comin'!!!

Hey Sam, when's the story comin'? ;) I already had the pleausure of reading a couple excerpts, which, in all honesty, are very good! Sam knows how to capture the language of the pilots, their NC mood and the small details. What I've read of his story is way above most fanfics I've been treated do. So, here's hoping for more...
