Hijacking The People, .. or just the leaders ?

I just talked to two guys in Israel on the phone today. They are tech support guys for a company who's software I am using .
These guys talked me through a 35 minute re -installation of my software.
Very polite and patient , very bright people.

It never occured to me to yell at them to Get lost You are goddam Fascists or any of that . They were just two nice guys.
That is the puzzle . - I can't figure it out . Are the people still normal and their governments are mad?

I am scratching my head again. Technically , statistically. whatever , it can't be that entire populations have gone mad. It just can't be.

So, I'm thinking that those who say it is a long-term project of Hijacking the Political Elites , they have a point . When you've hijacked the government , you can do a lot. You don't need every single citizen. You need to hijack the commander -in-chief's brain and make him say" I am a War President" and so forth . Then you can go a long way.

Now, who can pull this off ? The Russians? The Chinese ? The Aliens?
