Title: Physics Errata

Yokozuna - September 21, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
Hi, I searched on the forums to see if this has been mentioned yet, if it has, I apologize.

I was subbing the movie and noticed this statement:

time squared = distance squared / acceleration

The law for free fall is:

distance = 0.5 * acceleration * time squared

or:

time squared = (distance * 2) / acceleration

It is not distance squared, distance squared would be (distance*distance), it is
distance*2 or "distance doubled" if you want to simplify it. The thing is the numbers are ok because you have doubled the distance instead of squaring it, but you have to correct the formula, its a huge errata that affects credibility.

Sry to doublepost, but while I'm at it may I suggest an alternative configuration for this screen:

Something like this:

Or acceleration instead of gravity if you want. I can see that you have tried to simplify it but I was a little confused the first time I saw it, maybe it's just me but I think that this way it is clearer for people that knows how to read it and people than doesn't get it isn't going to bother anyway... just my 0.02
