In a quite strange pattern three control towers on the flight path of UA 93 have been evacuated during its flight.
Why I've tried to shown in the Delta 1989 thread that the evacuation of Cleveland raises many questions if there was any reason to do so. And I still fail to see any.
At 9:49 the FAA ordered Pittsburgh tower to evacuate.http://www.post-gazette.com/neigh_city/20010923city0923..
Between 9:40 and 10:00 the FAA adviced Johnstown to evacuate.
This has been presented in detail in the Johnstown thread.
Seeing all theses three evacuations together there is one central question that does arise:In none of the three cities were skyscrapers evacuated at that time. And UA 93 only switched off its transponder at 9:41 and Cleveland Center only adviced NEADS of UA 93 being hijacked at 10:07 (CR, 33). Why does the FAA give order to evacuate due to the threat posed by UA 93 if it not even informs NEADS at that time?
So, why were three towers evacuated while the controllers all of the US had there hands full of giving their best to help landing all planes in the UA airspace?
