The sky was having a hard time making up its mind, it seemed. One moment it would be bright and sunny, forcing Kat to use her arm to cover her closed eyes as she lay down on the grass next to the flowers and plants of the garden. Then a dark cloud or two would throw a blanket over the sun, allowing her to move her arm and look up at the sky without the threat of evil sunlight blinding her. For the moment, the clouds were covering the sun, and Kat was looking for shapes in the clouds. "There's a... pretzel!" "Ooh, is that... a bird? No, two birds... how cute." "That looks like... ooh, that's not nice. That looks like a lady hanging herself in a really long poofy dress... um...." "That looks kind of like Rowan, with his hair in his eyes... right there's his other eye." "Ooh, there's a pretty tree...." "...Rose. Definitely." "Aw," The sun came out again, forcing Kat to hiss quietly as she covered her face again with the back of her arm. The lack of a distraction because of the clouds caused Kat to think about her original reason for coming here. Rowan. She hadn't gotten to talk to him in a few days, and he seemed kind of sad. Plus, she couldn't remember what had happened about Isri... everything just got fuzzy and then blank after a bit. And so she was in the gardens, waiting for Rowan to eventually come, as she knew he would.

He had noticed the switchback immediately (or as close to it as he could get; he only saw her when she was in class, after all) and felt relieved. That whole incident with mean-Kat actually managed to make him look a little bit upset on the outside rather than just on the inside. But he always had his plants to come back to, to be with. So he was, as usual, okay.
And there he was, strolling (if one could call it that) into the gardens that day. He stopped and chatted with the plants every once in a while as he meandered around, finally finding a patch of grass in the sun to sit in. Immediately he felt better; the sun always did that for him, before yawning slightly. Though the sun energized plants, and on most days him, he was still human and he hadn't slept much the nights before.
Shrugging his shoulders a few times to loosen them up, he sighed softly before flopping backwards into the comforting grass, eyes squinting against the sunlight.
And then he bolted upright, causing the plants in the area to snigger at him. How had he missed the other person's presence that the plants just so kindly alerted him to? God, he was tired, exhausted even. He was far too distracted.
He then took the opportunity to turn to the person, who was farther away than he'd anticipated, and smiled a soft smile. It was nice-Kat.
"Ah, hello there." he called, though it was more of a quiet, forced-calm sound. He was truly enthused to see her, especially after the incident, and was trying to hide his obvious eagerness...

Kat took her arm away and winced, sitting up as fast as possible. "Pretzels!" she said suddenly, looking at Rowan with wide-eyes, before blinking multiple times. Breaking out into a grin, Kat crawled over a bit and sat next to Rowan, facing him. "I have no clue what that was about, but hi! I feel like I haven't seen you in forever! Isn't that odd and creepy and weird? It was not cool. I've been like 'Rowan-talk time!', unfortunately, we have a habit of not talking in class, which I still don't understand." She smiled and wiggled around happily. "You seem happy. This is note-worthy because you're generally only slightly happy appearing, but right now you really do seem happy-happy, which is just awesome. And Rowan has seemed like sad Rowan lately in class. Not cool. Did something bad happen?" Kat tilted her head curiously and curled her knees in, pulling them closer with her arms. Her ears twitched with energy as her foot tapped on the ground, giving her the appearance of someone barely able to stop themselves from jumping us and doing a three-hour-long happy dance. Which was... about how she actually felt. His happiness was definitely a factor in her exponentially happy... happiness.

"Ah, thanks, I guess." he muttered when she finished talking, quieting his voice to an almost-whisper, looking away from her as a faint blush twinged his cheeks. Before meeting her (really meeting her, not just the "oh yeah, she's in my class" way), he'd never really blushed. And now, that's all he seemed to be able to do.
"No, nothing really happened. You know, usual stuff." he told her in way of an explanation, which was mostly the truth. But he didn't need to delve into specifics, did he? He looked back to her at this point, a soft "heh" escaping his lips. "You're hyper today, yeah?" he added, as if she couldn't tell that she was acting as if she was full of nervous-energy.
And then he spotted something he never thought he'd see again: the bracelet he'd given her days ago was still on her wrist! Unconsciously (or was it?) he reached out and took a light hold of her wrist, admiring his handiwork. "Heh, nice bracelet," he mumbled, a soft smile tugging at the corners of his lips.

Kat giggled. "Me? Hyper? No way! And if you're sure that's all, then OK." She grinned and wiggled a bit more, stilling suddenly as he held her wrist, looking at the bracelet. She blushed and giggled again. "Yeah, actually, this really awesome super spectacularly ninja-tacular best friend of mine made that for me because he can make perfect jewelery food silly kittens. I love it. It's fun to play with. Plus, I've tried to kind of make one by looking at it, but I'm afraid I'm just not able to." Looking at the bracelet, she poked it a little, running her other hands fingers over it and smiling hugely.
Wiggling happily again, she readjusted herself and stretched out her leg while using her free arm to prop herself up as the end of her tail swished back and forth across the grass happily. She seemed to calm down while remaining happy. Her foot stopped bouncing, though her ears still gave the occasional twitch. "So, I've been meaning to ask... what happened? I keep trying to remember what happened after we ran into Isri, but it's all fuzzy and then in just gets blank. It feels like something not so nice happened, but we're both alive and well and fine so... yeah. It's confusing." She looked up at the clouds now blocking the sun, frowning a bit. How confusing and annoying her it was when she blanked out. It happened less and less now since she'd met Rowan but still, on occasion a few hours or even days would fly by without her awareness. It was honestly pretty scary, but she didn't want to worry Rowan with it.

A calm smile spread on his face when she complimented(?) him and seemed to calm down. They were really best friends? Well, at least they were friends, that was always good. At least he knew where he stood with her. Not quite a romantic interest, but a great friend. It could possibly build from there, if he was lucky.
Well, for now, he was happy. He could be upset about that later.
"So, I've been meaning to ask... what happened? I keep trying to remember what happened after we ran into Isri, but it's all fuzzy and then in just gets blank. It feels like something not so nice happened, but we're both alive and well and fine so... yeah. It's confusing." So she had an ulterior motive to being out here. Well, she was part cat, after all, thus extremely curious. However, like with mean-Kat, he found it difficult to explain to her about her multiple personalities and such. So he went with a no-details story like he had for mean-Kat, hoping to anything that she would not be upset by it. "Well, we met up with Isri, who needed directions, which you gave her. Then once she left, I walked with you to your room so you wouldn't get in trouble for being out during the lockdown." he explained, not offering any more than that. If she really wanted to know about the personality switches, she should ask a teacher or something; he refused to explain it for fear of being wrong or shunned for it.
Thinking he needed to get rid of her frown, he asked the plants how long she'd been there. They replied that she'd been there for some time and had been cloud watching. Lucky break. Those seemed to be favoring him lately with her around. For the most part, anyhow. "Huh, that looks kind of like a... poodle. Don't you think?" he asked quietly, emerald eyes trained on the sky.
Then it dawned on him that he was holding her hand (well, wrist) still, and that friends didn't hold on for that long and that he should probably let go even if every fiber of his being screamed against this. Letting loose her wrist, he dropped his hands into his lap before falling into the grass similar to how she'd been laying before he'd called her over.
