God, this place is boring,” the dull mutter slipped from the painted lips of a teenager, leaning against the great statue and staring down the driveway. For a moment she glared at it intensely, almost daring something to happen. Anything, really. A delivery, a car coming, a plain crash, locusts, plagues, famine, bring on disaster, she was bored, already.

Eh heh, joking on that last part- God,’ she added quickly, crossing herself as she realized she had just wished locusts, plague, etc. on herself and the world. She would never be that bored, but she did wish she could leave this place and go somewhere else. Somewhere that she hadn’t already done everything she might want to do. It was a great big world- places to go, people to see, things to do. School only got so interesting.

The girl looked different today. She was several inches shorter, about 5’2, although her proportions remained the same, although she looked tall as always in platform shoes that were made in the style of combat boots but, really, would prove useless in any real combat situation. Her hair was short, just under shoulder length, and spiked a bit so it loosely stuck out in various directions- the majority of it black with streaks of bright, neon colors. Her clothes were unusual, too, with a black tulle skirt covered by 3, tiered, layers of the black mesh-y stuff that barely covered her knees and a laced-tight-up-the-front black silk corset under a biker-style leather jacket.

Her wardrobe had probably exploded onto her, as it sometimes did when she got terribly bored with life. Although, despite her usual together-ness and fashion sense, she preferred dressing like this. Noticeable, different, but not necessarily in the way she normally was- which was a good thing, really.

A couple of mere humans were conversing with Josh out the front of the school, walking along, about the deserved fate of the even lower life forms that dominated this world, the non-gifted. General consensus before the other two hopped into the minibus for a trip to the nearest commercial centre was that, while they would win if it came to war, it would be best to avoid that. Grudgingly, Josh had to agree intellectually; his heart screamed against such a view, screamed that all those weak fools deserved to suffer for their crimes against the master race, but this time his brain had time to overrule his gut feeling.

He'd be on the trip as well, but he was barred from all activities for the weekend as a result of what he'd done to Krista earlier that week. Besides, he'd only just finished the detention half an hour ago, and it was still bright out here. Thanks to the heat, his cloak was in his dorm, but he'd made no other concessions to temperature (the rest of his black gear was not the warmest of clothing). It is thus that now I take the chance to describe more thoroughly his usual attire: the sleeveless vest showed off the wiry, deceptively delicate musculature of his arms, as well as being fairly form-fitting - not exactly skin-tight, but definitely no larger than his size. As for the trousers, they were a bit looser, made for sports, and the trainers were similarly made for use, rather than style. It was noticable in that he basically never varied this outfit, though the exact details changed from time to time as he couldn't always get to the same stores when he had money. He'd done what he usually did with his radiant white hair - ignored it - and as he turned away from the two who had amused him for a while, walking back up to the building, he noticed what looked like a new student leaning against the statue.

Hmm, he hadn't heard anythingabout a new student. He almost opened his mouth to greet her before he realised he hadn't heard about any newbies, and that only one girl on this planet was so perfectly designed to be sexually arousing. Natsumi Tebelle. The local slut. Nothing like Haylee in strength or in determined mindset, nothing to really make the younger boy interested in the long run, and he wasn't going to mess with someone to get sex. That punk wannabe gear didn't suit her, though, and those boots would be no help in an ambush, but at least she was consistent in showing off those master-crafted legs.

It was the mesh stuff combined with the leathers that got him, though it occured to him that he wasn't here to piss anyone off and that his first idea of how to comment would be as bad as that walking drink's words to him.
"Alright?"

"Alright?" The question drew her attention for a moment and he glanced over the boy briefly. The white hair caught her eyes especially. She had never liked white; it drew your attention but then was too boring to keep it. It was fine for giving the illusion of space in a room or accenting, but beyond that it wasn't terribly great.
She recognized him, couldn't remember his name, didn't really care to know it. Mimi probably should have cared, or at least tried to remember, but just wasn't in the mood to bother with such.

"Alright?" she echoed his question, a bit increduously. It sounded like asking if a plan was fine "I'm going to head over now, you meet me there, alright?", not a random question. "Ah, yeah, did I miss something?" That was likely.

'Better question- should I care?' she thought to herself with a bemused smile, not really in a rude sense so much as a "go on, get my attention" way. Either way it wouldn't matter- she wasn't about to say it out loud.

((Meh.. shouldn't've written that sick. ^^; Heh.
What's a "walking drink"?))

She seemed not to understand the fairly standard word of greeting; no surprise, Josh hadn't picked up on everything to do with how the sheep interacted with one another after all. Maybe it wasn't standard. He couldn't get over the multi-coloured, spiky hair... it looked oddly tough, but in a way that seemed not tough enough to not need proclaiming, if that sentence made any sense. Like the combat boots, it gave the appearance of a danger zone to some, while to Josh both indicated that this entity was no danger whatsoever.

She seemed to think he must know something she didn't. There was the J-316 affair, and his as yet semi-hidden feelings for Haylee, but nothing that she had any specific business knowing.
"Nah. Can't always tell though."

It suddenly struck Josh that there was one thing missing from the scene. Why did Natsumi not have Yet Another Walking Dildo with her? Why wasn't she in need of some other guy who'd mumble the right words, use her the right way, as always seemed to be the case?
"Where are your friends... and why do you NEVER stay recognisable?" It had to be asked, and it wasn't exactly a deliberate taunt.

((If Josh refers to "the walking drink" he means Krista.))

"Ok, then," she said vaguely, not really sure what to do with his comment. Apparently she hadn't missed anything, although his choice of greeting still perplexed her. If he stuck a y-apostrophe in front of it, it would have made sense. No point thinking about that. Didn't seem like this was going to be any more interesting than watching the grass grow. Not that she expected him to be.

His dual question made her pause for a moment, not entirely sure what he was asking. Where where her friends? And why did he, or anyone, care if she stayed the same? Better yet- where did he get off asking her something like that?

"Where are my friends? Last I checked," she turned slightly to face him and get a better look at this boy, "it wasn't my job to keep track of anyone. As for the..." she waved a hand over herself to indicate her appearances, "I change how I look when I feel like it- looking the same as I always do isn't that important. Why do you want to know, anyways? To either of 'em?"

Probably not the best answer. To either question. She wasn't sure what the best answer was, though, and still couldn't figure out why this kid... boy... he wasn't that much younger than her, was kid right?... wanted to know. Those weren't the normal things she was asked about.

That Josh had missed out a vital part of using that word as a greeting had evidently slipped past his mind. He didn't have anything really to say to this girl... but he felt that it would be better to talk to her than do nothing all day, and training wasn't really an option right now. Not with the so-called Child Protection Officer who was meant to be helping Josh now against his ways.

So he hadn't asked about screwing her. He didn't feel like sex right now... Then again maybe she did, and anyone who could metamorphose into a much more dangerous enemy had to be worth worrying about. Eh. Her problem.
"Failing to make conversation, that's all. Besides, you get enough guys interested in you for sex, why should I join their number?" Blunt. Impolite. Some would even say crude. But you couldn't fault Josh for not honestly expressing his feelings on the matter of Natsumi's 'love' life. "And the thing is, some evil bitch could sneak in here and we'd all think it was you until too late..."

'Failing is right...' she started to herself before he broke into the random tangent about sex. Right, that made perfect sense. To someone. Was he honestly so conceited as to think she'd have any interest in XXXing him? Hmm, doubtful, maybe she would if she wasn't in such a mood.

"Right... that didn't sound pathetically like a preemptive strike to avoid rejection..." she muttered vaguely, shaking her head. Rejection wasn't the right word, but she couldn't remember the right one, and rejection was probably be more insulting than whatever the right word was.

The girl sighed, wondering if it was better to walk away or if she was really bored enough that this would count as conversation. "And there's a handful of people who'd recognize me however I looked... since you're apparently not one of them, it'd suck to be you if that happened."

The easier way would be by voice, not that she felt like sharing this bit of information. Vocal chords were a witch to try and change, Mimi still hadn't worked out an easy way. Not like she cared too terribly much what happened to anyone here. Except one or two people- but not really. It'd be interesting if that happened, though.

Josh growled under his breath, but buttoned it for now, remembering he was only stuck with this whore because he had lashed out earlier. It was becoming clear that she reciprocated his lack of any real interest in her, and that this would give a new meaning to boring if he kept it up... but his blood was heating up, he wouldn't back down now.
"Rejection? You make it sound like I give a shit what the local whore thinks." He couldn't shake this feeling, when among those who stood out from the human sheep parade, that he was the only one who cared what happened to the place... He wasn't passing comment on how she was meant to be told apart from an impostor; if he saw someone acting too suspiciously he'd deck them, and if it was her, tough luck.

'The only difference between a slut and a whore is that at least a whore gets paid,' she thought vaguely to herself. Whether it was reaching new levels of effed up or that she felt as if she'd just been compared to Inara, Mimi took that particular noun as a compliment. Not that explaining this to him was high on her list of things to do.

""The lady doth protest too much, methinks"," she quoted, her voice chiming with mild amusement. "I was merely pointing out that the comment came from nowhere and someone might get the wrong idea. But with that little 'insult' you added on, one might wonder if it might be the right idea."

Her reply, while possibly confusing, was at least a bit unwarranted. Although he had clearly intended to insult her with his insistence that her opinion mattered so little, it really hadn't worked as intended. Not that Mimi was ever one to care if she was being more than a little rude or out of line.

'I really must get this... charming boys name for the next time I'm completely bored out of my mind. This is fun,' she thought to herself, making a mental note to try and remember to do so.

OK, so his insult hadn't worked as planned; he should have remembered how well Natsumi was known for putting up with walking dildos for company. And, of course, how much pride she seemed to take in being free sex for almost everyone in the school. Comment from nowhere sounding bad, fair enough, he'd take notes on what to avoid next time. Josh wasn't exactly an expert on how to sound like anything but a lonesome and fearsome being to be befriended or avoided.

He took a while to answer, as he decided to use the self-control techniques normally meant so his anger could be channeled into useful things like the extra edge in sports. As it was, it was simply to get a grip on the situation. He didn't need to get too involved with her, this was just passing time during what would doubtless be a boring weekend. Some fifteen seconds of pause later, he got to the point.
"I'm guessing you're only here out of boredom. Why didn't you go on the trip? Barred, like me?" He was calmer now, but it didn't sound unusual.

"You got barred?" she asked incredulously. It happened, sure, supposedly. Mimi just had never been faced with that sort of reality. What could people do to get barred? She didn't want to know.

'Oh, wait, that was a good excuse,' she thought vaguely, not really wanting to explain reality. Honestly, she had gotten sick of school trips by the time she was 7. Any trip that wasn't mandatory or actually sparked her interest, she avoided.

"I didn't get barred or anything, just didn't feel like going is all," she said, shrugging. "What did you do to get barred?"

Natsumi seemed shocked at the idea that Josh could have got barred from one of the weekend sthingies, which just demonstrated that his reputation as general dangerous entity wasn't widespread enough in the school. Eh; neither was the fact he'd accessed another personality that had proceeded to murder a whole GDC militia platoon. Why Natsumi would have avoided the opportunity to decrease her budget with clothes shopping he wasn't sure, though maybe her budget was already low enough at the moment.
"Giving an annoying kid what was coming to her, basically." He didn't hold any remorse whatsoever for his act, though he regretted having been foolish enough to think he'd escape punishment.

"What did she do?" Mimi asked with a half laugh, not sure she wanted to know. What could some "kid" do that would make him respond as to be barred? And he was younger than her... how young could this girl have been for him to call her kid? Probably not too much, a lot of people were idiots about what you could do and get in trouble and what others could do, much worse, and come out without so much as an annoyed glance.

The girl sighed, running a hand through her hair. It was much too short, couldn't recall why she had had it that length. It was a good length for lab days or gym when you don't want to deal with tying it back, not for normally. With a shrug she ran a hand through it again, the hair growing to meet her finger tips until it was a bit over shoulder length. It fell to her back, no longer the almost spikey thing it was though the color streaks remained.

"I'd had a bad day and she really thought a random poking session and an insult to my pride were both in order. This having happened a few times before, I took justified action and was reported to Mr Campbell." The rest of the story needed no telling. While it was fairly obvious that he had a soft spot for those orphaned here, like Josh or Haylee or Alan, Mr Campbell was known for giving harsh a new meaning when it came to serious verbal or physical abuse to students. If Josh had had a home he'd have been sent there and suspended from boarding here for at least a week, with no provision to get him to lessons.
He couldn't help but pass comment when Mimi changed the haircut before his eyes. "Suits you so much better than the spiky, but doesn't help the punk wannabe look, y'know?"

"Heh, I'd like to say we have a different definition of 'justified action', not that I know what yours is," Mimi said with an uncertain smile, guessing at what it was. Generally that meant violence- and if that was the case, they probably did have the same definition. Different willingness to act, though.

His next comment almost made her blush, she wasn't expecting it from their earlier conversations. She agreed, it just caught her off guard. For one thing because she wasn't sure if she'd call it 'punk wannabe', without the jacket it might be closer to 'wannabe goth'. Not that deciding which stereotype she fit was that important. "Ah, yeah, thanks. Guess i'll just have to figure out a way around that until I get the chance to change," she said with a slight smile. She probably could have taken off the jacket, removed the color streaks, curled the hair a bit, and maybe lighten the skin. Could work, she just didn't remember the dress code well enough to be sure if it was a good idea. The girl really had to look that up.
