David Templeton sat in a desk, crammed between rows of old, leather bound books. furiously his pen took notes, copying important facts and quotes from a thick tome. At the corner of his desk was a small, battery operated lamp casting enough light to light up the table, but everything else around him was dark. He'd cut off this small section the aisle by creating a wall, or at least the illusion of one, a foot or two from the back of his chair. Anyone walking by would just see a stack of bricks and a hanging painting, a copy of the aisle just a few rows away. If someone was to look through the shelf from an opposite aisle, they'd see the same thing, bricks. Of course he had a problem. If somebody wanted books of Italian poetry, Spanish satire or any other categories he had blocked off, they might catch on to his mirage. Of course, he had picked this area because he believed few, if any, people would have their hearts set on finding these texts.

There remained one way in which the illusion could be broken through: pure accident. It was a vision, not a physical object; were a person to slip, they would pass right through, and slipping was exactly what David Campbell managed to do, rather embarassingly, while trying to pick up a copy of a book on card-counting. Hey, he's a maths teacher, what do you expect? Maho! His first thought was that Krista must have strategically placed a banana skin to bring him down; his second thought was, to put it far more eloquently than how it actually appeared in his head, "how have I fallen through this wall?" Not to mention he didn't remember there being a wall in this aisle before... He got up (after a few seconds; he wasn't a young man anymore), dusted off his suit, and saw the reason for this strange occurence: poor little David Templeton, with his uncontrollable illusion power. This particular staff member had seen too much to be frightened of illusions when he knew them for what they were. Come to think of it though, he might have just startled little David, setting off his illusion powers.

David though he had heard something, but he figured it came behind the wall he had created. Within moments though, he heard something moving, breathing, and it was too close. His body tensed up and his pen froze upright between his fingertips. He held his breath, listening. Yes. Yes there was definitely somebody there. After a moment he slowly twisted his head and although it was expected, he was startled by the large figure looking at him. Without thinking, he grabbed the lamp from his desk at tossed it at whoever it was with a shout, the cord yanked out of socket creating a tiny array of sparks. The wall he'd created shattered and collapsed into a pile of rubble, falling on top and then through the person "He can't see my face" thought David, and immediately the aisle was flooded with a thick, red mist. He quickly snatched his notes, the and made a dash out of the aisle, only to run trip over the person he hid himself from and tumble to the ground, causing the mist to vanish and sending wrinkled pieces of paper into the air. (sorry it took so long, I had finals all week.)

The poor, poor child. Everything except this place had turned on him, all his life, with predictable results - so said the GDC file handed to the faculty when he first came. Thankfully, while he might take a while to recover, Mr Campbell's reactions remained sharp; he caught the lamp without it smashing, and since he was fully expecting to stumble when the boy tripped up on him, he managed to regain his balance without falling over even though he'd got blinded by another illusion. As for the paper, well, he tried not to step on any of the boy's notes. "David, it can't be this hard to find peace in the library."

David recognized the voice immediately. It was Mr. Campbell, one of the few people he had any trust in. Rising to his feet, his panic quickly faded into embarrassment as he saw the lamp in the adult's hands and the scattered paper. What a pitiful sight, he thought. Of course the shame only amplified his stress. "Peace? You think it's that easy to find peace?" he began, his voice wavering, still in panic. "I don't even know peace! Everywhere I go, no place is safe. This place was supposed to be different! It was supposed to be safe," his breathing increased to a rapid pace. "But I've heard the stories. I know what happened to those students. The mutilated bodies, the pools of blood. They say it's over. But who, who, who knows..." He couldn't go on. Terror had overtaken him. Images of cuts and lacerations began appearing on people within the vicinity. David's eyes widened in horror as he covered them with his own blood soaked hands, cursing and swearing.

Bastard.. The stupid little bastard... Of course it wasn't that easy. It might take years, it might require a prescription of something, but David Templeton wasn't leaving Lilliumn's with his fear unaddressed. No way, no how. But that was another issue. This questioning, this search for reassurance, served more to remind the man how stupid Allesandra had been about the whole issue. "All right, you have a right to know, whatever Mrs Morrigan thinks. I don't know the details, but the ghost of an angry old scholar was sealed on site, until fairly recently. She had a vendetta against the school and took it out by killing students; then we found and banished her. As it happens yes, we have acted to protect students; there's nothing else to surprise us on this site, we've got an eye kept on any student or staff member that arouses suspicion, and it's not exactly easy for any madman to find this place let alone endanger it."
