Mimi simply nodded at his comment, not really saying anything else. She didn't really agree with his example, but didn't really know what else to say about it and really didn't seem to care. Everything she could think of involved examples from biology. This might have something to do with the narrators recent finishing of some SAT2s and the difficulty inherent in finding an example with insanity from Chemistry.

"Huh, hadn't thought that far..." she said vaguely, thinking. Truth be told, she learned quite a bit more than she'd ever let on, but most of it was from wikipedia rather than class. "Guess I'll have to steal J's comp again and look some stuff up on that," she said with a shrug, a small part of her annoyed at his implications and the rest of her continuing to be as uncaring as possible. "It's not like there's any shortage of things you can do in the world."

Josh had to laugh as she suggested stealing a computer to sort out not bothering to learn. "Not too late I guess!" He wasn't completely convinced, and as far as revision went Josh's discipline matched the time he'd put into training, but whatever worked. "The trick isn't finding something to do, though, it's finding something you want to do." Hell, there were already girls other than Mimi who were making some money in not keeping the zip to their pants closed; Josh didn't see them wanting to be a whore all their lives. "Got anything in mind?"

((Well that wasn't a good post, I need to improve...))

Mimi raised an eyebrow at his comics, supposing he totally missed the point of her last statement. "Yeah- but if you start by finding what you can do, it's easier to choose something you want to do," she said simply, shrugging. "And I haven't got anything in mind- that's why I need the computer."

'With more choice comes more problems, though,' she reminded herself, glancing somewhere else as she bit her lip. It wasn't that she'd never thought of what she wanted to do- but after she got older not so much. There were too many you could do and too many you couldn't do. "What're you planning on doing?"

Well, that was a point missed. His implication wasn't about the difficulty of finding what you wanted to do, only about making sure you had the qualifications to get it. He actually hesitated a bit himself when asked if he had any idea what to do, since like her, he wasn't entirely sure. "I'd been thinking the military but I'm shit at following orders. Athlete maybe?" Or martial arts competitor thingy. "So much to choose from it's bloody hard to pick."

"Athletics?" she asked, not really sure what she expected an athlete to look like, beyond 'not like him'. "What sports do you do?" she added, deciding to ignore the military. She really didn't like violence in general, but if he did this was no time to get into a debate over war and such. Those generally made her want to smack the other person, and that really didn't help her case.

''Bloody hard to pick' sounds like he's talking about a scab,' the girl thought with a vague smile, agreeing with his comment with a nod.

Well, here was an ignorant girl; Josh didn't know of many sports that he didn't do. They'd even allowed him on the football team, though on a tight leash due to his violent tendencies. "Soccer, B-ball, tennis, baseball, weights, you name it. Mighta missed one or two there." Not to mention the various martial arts and miscellaneous other healthy maneuvers. "Hence the main crowd don't reject me."

"Ah. Gotcha," she said with a nod, not really caring. The only thing about that that didn't bore her was that she'd heard 'b-ball' as both basketball and baseball, but never in that context. Not like she paid attention to sport stuff- she didn't care. Unless you're playing it, it's boring, and she wasn't exactly the pinnacle of athletic prowess.

'Subject change, por favor,' she thought vaguely, not really interested in sports. Why couldn't it have been 'Oh, this and that- if you don't already know, you probably don't care'? That was a good answer.

"That makes sense, though, for some reason the... 'main crowd' seems to be a sport fan in its own right," because it's just so much fun watching a group of people going against another group of people trying to get a vaguely spherical object into a hoop, goal, or whatever.

Clearly she wasn't interested in sports, which never helped as it meant she wouldn't work out enough to keep strong. Only the strong would survive if anything went wrong. Truth be told he wasn't exactly a fan of watching sports either, but he played them all too regularly to avoid all interest in them.

"You get your loonies I'll admit, but really," and here he was extrapolating, "for most people I think it's like some kind of substitute for war. Your side is victorious, you celebrate and make heroes of the guys who achieved it... just with broken bones instead of deaths." Given the amount of hate that passed between opposing teams at professional events, the analogy was probably appropriate. Josh had heard of fans throwing human shit at the other side's fans, just for being the other side's fans.

"Yes.... I'm sure that's it. It makes sense, anyways," she agreed. About 5 Dave Barry columns and you were already well acquainted with why guys liked sports. The girls still confused her, though. It really wasn't something she was interested in either way.

'This must be what it's like when I go on about... no, I've never done that to people who didn't feel the same,' she thought to herself, curling her hair and glancing back towards the school as she tried to decide if a clearly BS'd excuse or a realistic one would be better in the situation.

"And I should probably get back. I have some things I need to get done by tonight and this skirt is starting to get on my nerves," she said apologetically. "It was nice chatting with you, guess I'll see you around sometime," Mimi smiled a bit, remembering that all her real reasons tended to suck worse than the ones she obviously made up. The girl turned around, starting to head back to the school as she slipped her coat back on.
