There hasn't been any news about it for EONS though. And some people say that they've announced a move musical several times before. We'll keep hoping anyway. *cross fingers*

The musical has always been cinematic, I think it'd transfer well from stage to screen. I really hope the project gets off the ground, but like delphicapollo said, plans have been announced before: I know because I've seen several over the years. sad.gif

I wonder who would direct.

PLEASE not Joel Schumacher. And I agree that it would transfer quite well from stage to screen, though the barricade scenes would bump the rating up quite a bit. They'd have to spend some time choosing/fixing up the sets etc too.

Oh, the barricade scenes. Am pretty afraid of what can happen. blink.gif

The barricade scenes will be amazing if done well.
Can you imagine the First Attack onscreen? ohmy.gif
And if it's done really well, it'll be quite a tear-jerker.

Do you think they'd put in Gavroche's death? Or is it too miniscule in the plot?

I think they'll put it. Gavroche's death exists even in the most hopeless Les Miz movies. You know, people always are moved when a little child dies.

The movies they made out of Rent and Phantom weren't as good as the actual musicals... think that'll happen with Les Mis? I certainly hope not.

Well, megustajake said the musical itself is quite cinematic, so hopefully it transfers well. Barricade scenes should be quite good if done right because they're quite action-packed and epic.

And at the end of the day there's another day over I think it really boils down to the choice of director and actors. If a really crap director gets the job there's probably no saving the movie.

Just wanted to point out: I've heard that ContactMusic isn't a very reliable source.

I really do hope they make a movie musical. They've already done it with quite a lot of musicals already, so Les Miz shouldn't be a problem. But you know how there's a School Edition and the Full Version? I wonder if they'd make a movie version (a la West Side Story ).
...or, dare I hope, they could make a movie-musical of both editions! cool.gif But at the moment, there's no real new news about it, I don't think. I think the article was in October last year...doubt there's been anything since. unsure.gif

Someone used to cradle them and kiss them when they cried...

"But...what are you doing here?!" Woman Two exclaimed. "Or are you all Marius in disguise?"

Thanks for the welcome! biggrin.gif
So...what about that musical-movie? I wonder if Cameron will let them do one of both SE and Full versions? That would be really awesome. I know some really really amazing singers myself. Cameron, do you hear? I have some numbers for you... tongue.gif
