These are the rules. Please follow them.
A -
Names- Please register with a full name. That being a first and second name. If there is a reason that your character does not have a second name please state that reason in your application
- Please do not include middle names as it makes your characters names too long and makes everything look ugly.
- Any names that turn up like the following: Lucifer443 will be deleted as soon as we see them. The first part of the code is Sam’s, keep reading to find out the rest.
- If you are looking to have a title within your characters name, please read This Thread first.
B -
Thinking your character through - When applying with a new character please think them through. No Mary sue characters will be accepted on these boards. They will be declined immediately. Remember: Your character can not do everything, period.
- We do ask that every character has at least three weaknesses; this is mainly to make you think about what your character can not do. Every character on these boards, apart from the Creator, must be able to die and to do this they will need weaknesses. The second part of the code is Snail. Carry on reading.
- Please remember this is role play and not real life. Make sure there is enough of a distinction between your home life and your character. By making the character too much like yourself you will set yourself up for upsets. It’s a lot easier to take it at face value if the character is not like you.
- Your character and posts are your responsibility. As much as the Administrators and Moderators of the site will try and keep it tasteful there may be things that slip past us - feel free to PM us and let us know if there are any posts that cause you concern.
The opposite is also true. If your character is out of line you are the one responsible for it and you are the one that will be punished. Period. The third word is Army.
- If there are going to be any major changes in your character that have cropped up through RP - such as being bitten by a Vampire and being turned then PLEASE go to the admin/mod request forum and post a post letting us know before it happens. You will need to change and adapt your application so as it fits the change in your character and we will have to accept it. We do not need hundreds of vampires or werewolves running around Illiria.
- The death of a character has to be agreed by the player of the character. In the case of a plot character you will need to seek staff permission to kill off the character. If you place your character into a situation where death is unavoidable then you must follow through and allow the death of your character. Should you refuse (after ample consideration from the Staff) then the Staff reserve the right to over-rule and force the death of the character
- Choose a creature race that you can play. You may want to do a bit of research to aid you in your playing.
- If you have an idea for a TOTALLY NEW BREED of Creature, write your extended application, giving as much detail as possible and The Creator will contact you about it.
C -
The admins, mods and guidance - What the Administrators and Moderators say goes. No arguments. You may state your case, we will listen and make a decision but once that decision is made it will not be changed. Please do not try and play us off against one another. We have a forum that only we can see which we will talk about decisions in.
- Legends of Man is a fantasy RP site. The characters are likely to be adults. We understand that you will want your character to act their age but we do not allow any actual scenes of sex, drug abuse or self harm on the boards. You are allowed to hint at them BUT graphic detail will not be tolerated. If you are going to add anything of this nature into your posts then PLEASE let it be stated clearly in the topic title or description by rating it R and stating the word Caution. The forth part is Will. Carry on reading for the rest of the code.
D -
Posts- All RP posts must be in 3rd person and past tense. Unless the post is in a journal - then 1st person is allowed.
- All posts must be at least 200 words long.
- Remember - your character is not perfect. They can die. They WILL be hit at some point. They are unlikely to be able to dodge every sword and every fist. If we think you are trying to make your character too perfect then you WILL be warned.
- You are not allowed to power play/God-mod. If you are found doing so you will be asked to change your post. You can cast a spell/go to hit another character but you can not decide that it has hit them UNLESS they completely ignore your attack in their next post.
If the other person agrees for your character to do something to them then please make an OOC post at the bottom of your post letting us know. We are not mind readers. We will give you a warning if we see you power play without permission. Fifth part of the code is take. Read on.
- There is a tagging system in please on these boards. If a post has "Tag: Player Name" written here, it means that only that player may reply. If it says "Tag: Player Name Then Open" you may reply AFTER that player has posted. If it reads "Tag: Open" or just "Open" it is free for all and anyone may join.
E -
Images- Avatars are to be no bigger then 100x100. The board is set so as you can not upload them any bigger then that size.
- Signatures are to be no bigger then 500px wide. If you are using miniature pictures that are of a similar size to your avatar then you are allowed no more then eight of them within your signature. Over is the next part of the code.
- We would like your Avatars and Signatures, where possible to be real people. Please use actors and actresses wherever possible. Obviously, there are no Centaur actors but you can use head shots, you need not have full length pictures.
Some exceptions will be made if Fantasy Artwork is used and is of a high standard. For example there aren't any actors who are goblin like and green so using a fantasy picture is acceptable.
Anime pictures are not accepted.
F -
Cbox (Chat Box)- Please do not spam the CBox with random nothingness. Quirkiness is fine but please be sensible.
- Please no advertising in the CBox. There is a forum that is guest friendly for this purpose. If you are a member of the forums and would like to put a link in the email/url section then that is fine.
- Please do NOT place links or talk about anything that is over a PG rating in the CBox. Those that read it may be too young to do so.
We are able to get to everyone’s IP address that posts within the CBox and will ban them from using the CBox for either a set amount of time or for good if they do not abide by these rules.
G -
Other- You are allowed no more then 8 characters. Previously we allowed more but due to some people having so many that they were falling behind in posts we have felt a limit needed to be put in place. The is the seventh part of the code.
- Any writing on the boards is to be in English. No text talk or short hand is allowed. We have members from all over the world and some use English as thier second language, so please use proper English so as they can understand what is being said.
- If you wish to advertise or affiliate with Legends of Man then you are more then welcome although we do ask that your site has an area for us to do the same. Please only advertise and affiliate in the forums provided.
- The Administrators and Moderators are here to help you but we can not be online all day and all night. Due to this we have an entire forum for you to post your requests and questions to the staff of Legends of Man. The forum is names Admin/Mod Requests. Although we do encourage you to use the Admin/Mod Request forum as much as possible when wanting to get in touch with the staff of Legends of Man, we do understand that sometimes questions or requests are a little more personal to you and would like to stress you are still more then welcome to PM an Administrator or Moderator.
- Please remember to be respectful. There are real people behind the characters on these boards. Please respect their feelings. World is the last part of the code.
- Plot Characters - Plot characters can be played by anyone but there are a few conditions to taking on a plot character. The initial idea and name (if given one) remain the intellectual property of the staff on LoM. If we feel a plot character is not being played to its full potential (ie we see it not in play for a long period of time) then we reserve the right to take back the plot character. In the event of us needing to take back a plot character, you forfeit any work you have done on the character, allowing us to give that work over to someone else to use or edit.
We reserve the right to adapt and add to these rules.
We reserve the right to use the creator account to restrict a character if we feel it is becoming too powerful
