Howdy All.
I know this isn't exactly the place to put this post, but I am placing one here just to cover everything.
I am looking for a air filter and intake tube for a David Bradley 1956 Super Power, with the Briggs 8-B motor.
The item in question has the filter sitting nearly above the carb., with a sort of straightened out S shaped air tube going down to the carb.. The tube that I am looking for, attaches to the side of the carb., not the top of the carbs intake. It's a horizontal air flow carb as in nothing turning to point up or down.
Any help to located that intake part and filt would be very much appreciated.
Heck. maybe I should have sent it to the scrapper last summer when Iron was high! banghead.gif
Thanks for any help.

Here is a photo of the intake that I need for my machine (Circled in red).
One of these photos is from eBay and I missed out! banghead.gif I would have bought the whole motor, just for that Intake tube and filter.

I hope that this helps someone I.D. it, because I could use the intake set up like this. This one silly part is holding me back from enjoying my '56 D.B. Machine.
Thanks.

I did look but I don't have any of those parts here.

I can offer a snip from the Model 8 manual identifying them.

Sorry it's nothing more than part numbers.

Hey Rake!
Thanks for the part number sheet.
Do I have the wrong carb on my machine? Just wondering as my intake tube attaches to the top of the carb with a freeze plug affair in the side opening. You can see the plugged opening in the lower photo of the complete motor.
Can my carb go with either intake tube?
Which one is correct? Mine looks to be original to the motor.
Just more questions for needed answers. LOL
Thanks Again!

Briggs made many variations of the Model 8B that included the
8B, 8B-FB and 8B-R6.

You can still download a copy of the original manual for that
engine family directly from Briggs in .pdf format..
Here's the link Model 8B Series Manual
It may be of some help.

Oh Wow! woohoo1.gif
Thanks for that info Rake!
That's sure going to be a big help!
Now those parts don't show that bent air intake that keeps showing up in the D.B. manuals. I have heard that I need one, so that the hood will clear the air filter or vis-a-versa.
Has anyone just mounted the air filter direct, with no clearance problems?
If that be the case, I'll still need the air filter. I suppse that's a trip to eBay as something that old probably isn't available any longer.
Again!
Thank You very much Rake. Big help that is!!!

I have a few original Briggs oil bath air cleaners here but I'm
afraid they are not for sale. They will show up on eBay from time
to time. If they are authentic Briggs parts expect them to go
in the $25 to $40 range.

Rusty,
Watch the swap meets for your air cleaner. I picked up 2 for 25.00, both complete and one was sitting on top of a nice little Briggs 6S that came as part of the deal. biggrin.gif The air cleaner tube is DB only, if you haven't already checked I think there is a yahoo group for DB tractors, that might give you a lead.

Thanks for the info Peter!
I have joined several of the Yahoo groups, but sadly nothing in the way of parts as yet.
As for Swap Meets, there aren't any for either the little tractors/mowers or the bigger machines in my area.
In fact. There is only one old car show/swap meet in the area every year.
When I can, I chase items on eBay, but the majority of those selling D.B. items won't ship the items. Let alone clear over to Idaho, as most sellers seem to be in the New England states or Pennsylvania for some reason.
By chance. Do you know if the air filter would sit on the carb and not need the tube, without interfering with the hood?
Thanks for your info!

Rusty,
I'll try and remember to do some checking & picture taking this weekend. I know where there is a collection of DB tractors, in fact we were mounting bar tread tires on rims for one a couple weekends ago. I don't think he has what you are looking for in his spares but I will ask.

Wow!
Great photos of what things should look like and where they go!
I am really starting to wonder if I have the right carb. on my unit. Guess that I'll have to change it, or whatever, so that I can get an air cleaner on mine.
That carb. with the turned up intake end was very different than what I have seen.
Thank You for sharing the pictures.

Beautiful collections of DB's Peter.
I can understand why he isn't selling parts.

That has me kicking myself again.
I went to an auction two years ago for the sole purpose of
bidding on a Maytag Model 72 engine. There was a fully
equipped DB at that sale. I chased the Maytag engine up to
$275 and quit on it. It sold for $325. Disappointed with that loss
I left the auction. Two days later a buddy of mine who was also at
that auction told me that DB went for $75.

I need to learn patience.
