Reist stood slowly, rubbing the large bruise on the side of his head. His brow was drawn together and iridescent yellow orbs only peeked through narrowed slits as he looked himself over. The beasts’ claws had rent four large gashes through his blood red leather armor, exposing the jagged gashes beneath that had already begun to heal. The armor it’s self was beginning to heal as well, though much faster than his body.

His voice joined the wounded groans of two other Mor’Du’Kai who had suffered much worse than he, one clutching at his intestines which had split on the floor. Only one thought came to his mind as his hand tightened around the rough leather grip of his blade, letting the measured and controlled rage that came from it sustain him. Getting shakily to one knee, and then his second, he stepped over the corpse of the forth Kai and past the fallen bodies of the two sisters that had been stationed with them in the artifact chamber.

His boots made no noise as he used the wall to guide himself down the hall and toward the stairs that would lead to the Magus’ chambers. More sister’s came, they knew better, and instead passed by him heading for the chamber to treat their wounded. The alarms within the tower were sounding loud and annoying, letting everyone within the massive structure know their worst nightmare had come true, the Artifact had been stolen.

"What?" Hram stood when the Mor'Du'Kai told her what had happened, "How did this happen? What did this?!"

“We.. I don’t know.” Reist admitted with a sigh, slumping forcing himself to straiten before the head priestess. He forced his chin up, only a bit of blood leaking now from his wound before his leather armor closed before her eyes. The droplets disappeared against the similar colored armor, giving an illusion that he never bled, “Whatever it was it was fast, like a blur.. and they got past the shields and wards, so whoever did this must have been powerful. As I was going down I saw… one of your sisters hit it with magic… but there was no bodies but our own when I came too.”

She knelt down besideds Reist, "Go to the infirmary, you did your best."

She stood and ran off to where the artifact had normally been kept hoping to find any clues.

Sister’s had removed the remaining wounded survivor and only a few along with their novices remained to attend the dead. Two sisters, high ranking at that, were little more than charred and splattered remains on the floor. The wall was marked with thick black lines where whatever it was magic had struck against it, blowing away bits of the white stone. There were gaps where it had been disrupted by the Kai’s. Whatever it had been had apparently caught them by surprise, as one of the Kai’s hadn’t even turned before it’s spine was ripped form it’s body. Another lay split nearly in half, it’s intestines splayed out across the ground even as two younger sisters struggle to clean the mess.

Reist was there, behind her, his arm’s folded behind his back as he stood vigilant guard over Hram. Iridescent eyes didn’t stop moving, constantly searching over the chamber as if a horde was going to descend at any moment.

Hram held a hand to her mouth as a wave of nausea swept over her, "Oh...god."

“It was fast, but violent mistress.” Reist mentioned casually, though his eyes had never rested on her. His voice was firm and confident, but held polite and very respectful tone. When she spoke most of the sister’s looked up, a few of the younger ones gasping at seeing the Magus for the first time but all offered a respectful greeting. The novices looked like they were torn between running in fear and staring in open awe at seeing the most powerful of their order.

She walked to the wall running her fingers over the gashes, she had to pull away at what magic she sensed against her fingers, "Any idea at all where this monster came from?"

“Of course not, Mother!” Huffed a portly sister as she stepped up. Lynn, an older sister, was a member of the council and a very powerful sorceress in her own right though it paled in comparison to Hram’s. She bowed her head respectfully but not as low as the others as she moved next to her, gesturing at the carnage, “If we knew what could have done this do you not think we would have told you!? Aside from the residue of power left from whatever did this Mother, we’ve found nothing aside from death in this room!”

Hram pursed her lips, she wasn't quite fond of Lynn's tone but she brushed it off, "The gods wouldn't do this...they didn't want the heart in their realm...so the only other person of power who would want it is the King..."

“The.. king? What are you talking about, Mother?” Lynn asked, giving a frustrated sigh at their leaders response. She stepped around to stand in front of her, her pale blue eyes matched her stern features, “What king? Where? Do you know who has done this!?”

Hram rolled her eyes, "The King of Seph! Please Lynn you should know about that! He wants to gain more power then should be allowed to any mortal!"

“We’re not all allowed such information that you are privy to, Mother.” Lynn said with a hint of anger.

“But Mother said..” Another voice chimed in, sweet and innocent in sound, before it was silence by Lynn. It was Nashka, the youngest member of the council and a sorceress of some note who’d risen through the ranks fast.

“Oh silence your tongue child.” Lynn glared at the younger, and much more attractive sister, before looking back to Hram. She gave a restrained sigh, somewhat embarrassed she had forgotten what had been discussed shortly after Wilhelm had taken power a few years ago, “And as I recall, Wilhelm had not been appointed the true king yet. He’s just got the strongest support of the people. Do you really think he would try something this.. this foolish?”

"He is still young and quite greedy," Hram turned to look at her sisters, "We shall discuss this later once this is all cleaned and taken care of."

“Of course, Mother.” Nashka bowed her head and then scurried off to help with the cleaning and removing of the bodies. Lynn only grunted before she moved off, preferring to gather more sister’s to help in the effort while she stood over them, directing them with a sense of detachment.

Once the sister’s had stopped speaking Reist was at her side again, having approached in typical silence. He continued his vigilant watch around her, unfazed by the gore. The large bruise that had been on his face had all but withered away, now barely noticeable unless you knew where to look.
