“Surely we have angered the gods!” Nashka blurted loudly, jumping up at the table. She looked near panic as she smacked her small hand on the table, “They will kill us all! We must pray for forgiveness!”

“Now hold on!” Lynn stood now, placing her fists on her wide hips, “How do we know whatever took it wasn’t sent by them? Perhaps they wanted it back? Do any of you really think it’s possible any other mortal’s would have the power to take it from us?”

"I doubt it was the gods, they would have simply sent someone down to ask for it back. Why go and kill our soilders? We can pray for forgivness and ask for another chance."

“Well we can’t ask for forgiveness if we do nothing,” Sylina spoke in her dark, firm voice. She was tall and attractive for an older woman; no doubt she’d been stunning when she was younger. She’d lived long enough that her hair had faded from a deep purple that to a very light shade of bluish gray, “The soldier’s lives are just for that, dying. That is what they stand ready for, and this is exactly why they are here. We’ve failed to defend what was given, but we must get it back!”

“How heartless!” Called Nashka, looking appalled by Sylina’s callous nature. Lynn seemed to approve, though she was silent for once.

"Sister Nashka sit down," she waited til the young girl had seated herself, "While I don't agree with Sylina's theory, I do agree that at this point we can only take action and get the artifact back."

Sylina dismissively waved her hand, smiling slyly as the Magus had agreed with her in part. She folded her spidery hands on the table in front of her, tilting her head to the side as she settled her gaze on the Magus. “Then it is war, Mother?”

"Yes, it is war," she frowned looking down, "I will tell Reist the decision has been made. We will need some sisters to go as well when the heart is found," Hram stood, "I will leave that decision to you."

“Us?” Lynn frowned, leaning back.

There was a lot of whispering at the table at the Magus’ decision. Even Sylina frowned at first, though it faded and her smooth smile returned as she held up her hand, calling for silence.

“Ladies, ladies, please. The mother simply said sisters; it doesn’t mean any of us. It’s foolish to think we won’t need to send some of our younger sister’s with the army to provide them with protection from the thieving people’s mages. That doesn’t mean any of us will be in danger.”

“A-a war is not the answer! We should all just pray for forgiveness and let the gods handle it as is their will!” Nashka cried out, tears were starting to run down her cheeks, “More Mord Draken will die, haven’t we lost enough!?”

Hram sighed rethinking her decision before turning and leaving the room. She met Reist in the war room, "It has been decided, it is war."

The entire room was busy with activity, men were scrambling to get maps and sister’s were sending information via magic to the various outposts about mobilization. Reist had been standing next to two of the generals when he heard someone announce the Magus’ presence. Everyone stopped and dropped to one knee, except for Reist and the two Kai’s at the door. He turned and strode across the room, lowering his head in a polite bow.

“By your will, mistress.” Reist turned his head and nodded, the activity in the room exploded to almost frenzied levels.
