I'm new to the zilla's and my bike needs a rebuild, where's the best place to go.
I want it to go fast! I bought it used, with moter blowed up. Any help?
Its really nice almost like new, but the piston is stuck and won't move. Got it for 200 bucks from my neighbors dad, who bought it new in 89.
Its cherry man.

How much money are you looking to spend to go fast?
Duncan Racing charges $595.00 for a complete tear down and reassembly.

My Zilla: an 87 with a Uni air filter, no air box lid, a '90 carb with 25 pilot jet, 340 main jet, Vesrah clutch, OEM 10 over piston, B8ES plug, Boyesen reeds, Klemm research pipe, FMF turbine core muffler, 40 tooth rear sprocket, 20 inch holeshots, and a 13 tooth front sprocket.

Here it is.

595 for a whole moter that's cheap, where's ct at?

I was expecting to spend about 3-4k on one.
As soon as I get my camera back from the shop, I'll get some pics of it.
I mean this thing looks brand new, paint is cherry, no rub marks at all.
All the oe stickers on it, factory tool kit, etc.
The guy forgot to mix the gas and oil in it he said! It s been in a barn covered with
a old canvas tarp for all these years, probably 19 years or so.

Not for rebuilding. CT wants $1145 for porting, head rechamber, piston kit, top-end gasket set, Delta V-Force reed cage, 39PWK carburetor, throttle cable, and pipe/silencer. Duncan wants $1499 for PTR Pipe, Fat Boy 2 Silencer, NATIONAL or ELIMINATOR Porting, Powerhead, Pyramid Reed Valves, Pre-Jetted Keihin 39mm PWK Carburetor, Jet Kit, K&N Filter, T-Shirt, Instructions, and Tech Support. Tudors wants $835 for a Coolhead, V-Force reeds, clutch kit, and carb. Those are the only ones I can think of right now, and some more offer parts, but no kits.

Awesome! I look forward to them!

Oh boy. That's not going to be cheap. You probably need at least:
Piston
Rings
Wrist pin clips
Rod kit
Main bearings
Main bearing seals
Gasket kit
Spark plug
Bore
I'd also replace the:
Wrist pin
Wrist pin bearing
Wrist pin washers

Damn! Maybe you shouldn't use it? unsure.gif

I will search around before I drop all my money in one spot.

I have been reading about the wrist thrust washers or something like that and replacing them with some luminum ones, any idea what that is for?

thanks for your help
this isn't much info on these bikes out there.

Sorry I couldn't respond sooner. I was helping a friend with a snowmobile.

The stock thrust washers are hardened steel, and if they break, they will take a lot of other stuff with them. Not pretty. Making ones out of aluminum would not be difficult for a machine shop. You will need a different wrist pin bearing though.

Yeah, that's too bad. A lot of kids these days don't even know what a QuadZilla is. sad.gif
