The War Is Beginning...

FIVE YEARS AGO, Hancock had thought that he and his mate, Mary, were the only superpowered beings left in the world, but they were both wrong. There were many of these beings, from all over the globe, hiding themselves amongst the human population so that they could lead normal lives. But that all changed with the arrival of the villain, Thorn.

A superhuman, just like Hancock, he challenged the world's hero and when these massive powers collided, the city of New York was nearly left a city of smoking ruins, millions were killed and what was worse: Hancock, the invincible superhero, lay dead among the casualties with Thorn the victor. In retaliation, the world's nations armed themselves and declared war on the villain. But no one knew that Thorn had had an army of superhuman followers, beings--who, like Thorn--were tired of hiding, beings who believed that they should be worshipped as gods over men.

The war was devastating: cities were levelled, homes destroyed, millions upon millions of human lives lost, and when it was finally over, superbeings were hated and feared by humans across the globe.

Now, five years later, the government has outlawed superbeings, hunting them down ruthlessly, executing them with a newly discovered substance that penetrates the superhumans' bodies, called [LANTHIUM-45], highly toxic and always fatal.

The world has been a powder keg since, and in one city--once the city of New York, now a rebuilt metropolis called 'New City'--there are rumors that a new war is on the horizon.
