silence is a scary soundClouds. Nothing but clouds for days now. Kai found herself wanting sunshine as she packed up her bag making sure she had the necessities for the trip. Clouds meant that it could possibly rain, rain was never good for trips into town. Everything was easier when it wasn't raining, but it was Seattle after all rain was extremely common. Kai was particular about her weather, she liked warm overcast but not the kind of clouds that were in the sky now. She was tempted to ask Mason if they could reschedule for a different day, one where it was a guarantee that it wouldn't rain. But they had talked about this trip for a few days now finally gathering a list of things to get for the group. It wasn't going to be a big trip, they'd need more people for that. Just a quick one in and out. Kai had been on a few trips but they had been closer to the camp, she hadn't been to the CD after the outbreak so she wasn't too sure what to expect. The CD was always usually a populated area. Hopefully there weren't too many geeks there. Mason was skilled with his weapons but Kai was still learning, she just didn't want to make a mistake that would get them killed.Kneeling down Kai checked her shoe laces and buckles making sure they were as tight as they could be, she really didn't need her shoes flying off if she had to run. Hopefully she wouldn't have to. And if they did they had a get away car. Kai was lucky that she had found a car with keys in it with some gas not much but now that she wasn't on her own and people in the group were going out to get gas it wasn't too much of a problem. Standing up Kai pulled her hair into a tight bun knowing that the less she had in her face the better. Besides if she did come across a close encounter with a geek it's one less thing it could grab onto. Loose clothes and loose hair weren't a good combination after all.Kai let out a sigh as she looked through her things double checking to see if she had everything she needed. Nodding in approval Kai grabbed her back pack and threw it in the back seat of her Honda Civic. Turning away from the car Kai grabbed two more duffles and tossed them in the back seat. She didn't know how much they were getting but it was a good idea to be prepared incase they did find some more things they needed. They were a fairly decent sized group and more supplies was always appreciated by everyone.Shutting the car door Kai tightened the belted garter she wore, she originally had it for style before the apocalypse but now she's been finding it useful for holding things she would need immediately since it had a decent sized compartment on it. She usually kept her ammo in it and her multi-purpose swiss army tool. Pulling out her Colt Kai checked to see if she had the full seven rounds in the clip, which she did. Putting her gun back in it's holster Kai looked around for Mr. Leader. He was supposed to meet her over by the car, hopefully he wouldn't take too long since they needed to get going.Kai climbed up onto the top of her car to get a better view of the camp. Spotting the guy she was looking for Kai waved her arms at him. "Yo, Mason you ready? Kai called out to him. "We gotta get going man."TAG - MASON | 617 WORDS | Outfitcassie at atf.

CAN ONLY MAKE ME STRONgER“Alright. We’ll be back.” Mason squeezed Bell’s shoulder as he heard Kai’s voice sounding from across the camp. He always had to dispose of his plans onto his little sister before leaving the camp. Most of his decisions weren’t made unless talking to her first. Maybe it was because he looked for some kind of reassurance. Just to make sure that he was thinking logically about everything they did around camp and outside of it. Organizing and planning was his specialty. He wasn’t spontaneous and he cared more about being safe than anything. Each week he and selected few would have to take a risk and travel amongst the city. Supplies were needed and food was a necessity for their survival. For the past few days he had conversing about this trip with Kai and gathered up a list of what they needed. It would only be the two of them and even though he preferred more scouters or gunners by his side when traveling deeper into the city, Mas also wanted to give some rest to those who spend every moment protecting their group. Kai was a decent gunner. She wasn’t bad but there was always room for improvement. Practice makes perfect. He could use a little of that as well. Mas glanced up at the grayish sky as made long strides over to the blonde. The weather wasn’t great and it was likely that it would begin to rain while they were out but having lived in Seattle most of his life, the twenty-nine year old knew it would only get worse. This was their window of opportunity and they needed to take it. He swung his shotgun over his arm, allowing the strap to rest against his right shoulder while the other supported a black duffle bag. “Let’s get out of here.” He nodded to Kai as he placed the bag in the back seat with the rest. They may not have had a huge least to accommodate but there was always something more they would find that could be used or needed. Mason slipped on a brown jacket over his shoulder before taking a spot in the passenger side of the Honda Civic. He wasn’t preparing for the weather but giving himself an easy access to his gun rounds to both the shotgun and his Smith & Wesson that laid holstered to his side. Reaching into the jacket pocket was a lot easier than reaching into his pant pocket. Mason learned that the hard way and almost paid the consequences during the first week after the breakout had occurred. “Taking 15th Avenue might be easier than taking the highway.” Mason commented as they started driving. Having been from Seattle himself, he could only assume that most of the survivors in their group and those they found on the streets were native to the area and knew where they were going. He assumed that much from Kai since she was the one who obtained the car but a little guidance didn’t hurt. It was natural for someone who assumed the leadership role, even if he didn’t want to. “Taking the back roads might give us less trouble too. Less walkers.” At least he hoped. The areas at which the undead roamed were always changing. They moved around constantly in the search for food. Live food and placing themselves in the middle of them probably wasn’t the smartest idea.TAGGED: Kai WORDS: HERE OUTFIT: minus glasses THIS TEMPLATE WAS MADE BY WILMETTA OF CAUTION.

silence is a scary soundKai felt a smile grow as she saw Mason saying goodbye to his sister. No matter how hard he tried to be strong for the group you could always catch a break in his rough exterior when it came to Arabella. She thought they were adorable siblings and it was a nice change to see such care creep back into life through the darkness that was around them. Kai never had the experience of having a sibling being an only child, her cousin was the closet she would ever have to a sibling. Not that she really minded all to much, but it would have been nice to have one.Jumping down from the top of her car Kai grinned at Mason nodding her head in agreement knowing that they needed to get going before it got dark and while the weather wasn't completely terrible. Kai walked around to the drivers side as Mason threw in another duffle bag in the back seat. Kai would be lying if she said she wasn't nervous. She hadn't been on many runs since joining the group, and the ones that she had been on she hadn't gone further then the Wallingford area. But the CD was a whole nether story. It was a good half hour away where as Wallingford was ten maybe fifteen minutes. In all honesty Kai was surprised Mason wanted her to go with him. She wasn't as experienced when it came to weapons then some of the other members in camp. She'd understand more if it was just a quick trip to the neighboring areas but the group hadn't really explored the further neighborhoods. But she was happy to help to help the group in anyway she could, and if that meant putting herself in a dangerous situation for supplies then she'd do it. Besides she had a hard time saying no to Mason. She looked up to him like she was sure everyone else did. He did his best to provide for the group, to get them through the day. And for that she was thankful, but she knew that one person couldn't handle all the responsibility of looking after everyone by themselves. So she tried to be patient with him, because that's what he probably needed. Hell Kai would probably have been dead if it wasn't for Mason. She was corned with no way out when part of the group found her. She owed not just him but everyone else her life.Kai grabbed her rifle from where she left it rested against the car and stuck it carefully on the back seat. She gave the group who were there to see them off a mock salute and slid into the drivers seat mentally preparing herself for the trip. Get supplies, and come back alive. And have Mason’s back, Kai knew that Arabella would never forgive her if she let anything happen to her brother. In fact no one would in the group, if something went wrong on the run and he didn’t make it...Kai didn’t know what she would do. That was a worse case scenario and she didn’t need to think about it right now, she needed to focus on surviving. Kai started the car and carefully drove out of the camp. “Taking 15th Avenue might be easier than taking the highway. Taking the back roads might give us less trouble too. Less walkers.” Kai looked at him and nodded her head, he had a point. To her knowledge they had yet to move the abandoned cars out of the way on the freeway so that they’d have easier access to the city. But it really depended on luck about where the walkers were. Sometimes there were more on main roads sometimes there wasn’t. But if they ever wanted to take the freeway they had to take the wrong side since all the cars were heading out of the city.”We’ll have to take Nickerson and then Westlake to avoid most of downtown. I’d like to stay as far away as there as possible until we’ve planned a big group to go there. Kai said turning her eyes back to the road. She reminded herself that she needed to pay attention to the road for walkers and possibly more people, not her attractive leader. Kai tried to ignore any attractions she had towards anyone since she knew it wasn't really the time and the place of any of that. Especially not with Mason, he had too much to worry about with the group and watching out for his sister. Kai turned onto 15th and glanced over at Mason "So what's the plan? I mean we could go down to Rainer ave. There's the QFC and the two drug stores like right next to it. Oh and there's a Lowes across the street! That could be helpful." Kai suggested knowing that it was a good place to consider. It was basically a one stop shop.TAG - MASON | 839 WORDS | Outfitcassie at atf.
